Mass Civil Disobedience on Global Warming Monday February 27, 2009 Worldwatch Institute, Center for Global Development, OneWorld US, PowerShift09, The Guardian, New York Times, Reuters

<img src="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/photo/homepage/hp3-2-09b.jpg" align="right">WASHINGTON, Feb 27 (OneWorld.net) - Thousands of protestors will stage an act of mass civil disobedience at the coal-fired Capitol Power Plant in Washington, DC Monday, in what may be the highest profile act of civil disobedience on climate change in the United States.

The action is timed to coincide with the final day of PowerShift09, a four-day "National Youth Summit" that is bringing some 12,000 students to Washington to lobby for action on climate change. Organizers have said the young people from over a dozen countries "will acquire the tools to build the movement larger," and over 5,000 people will lobby their elected officials directly. "Our movement is so big that we are meeting with our Congress members and senators on street corners, in parks, in hearing rooms, and on the Capitol Steps," wrote PowerShift fellow Laura Comer on the organization's blog.

Reminds me of the time AlGore (sounds more appropriate for some reason if you say it as one name) came to NYC to make a speech on global warming and arrived on the coldest day in some 10 years.

Not to worry though, since for global warming alarmists both warmer AND colder weather serve as proof of the threat.

And no doubt when you're campaigning on this issue year-round, this sort of irony is unavoidable. It'll kind of thin out the protest though.

Personally, I'm just waiting around for the 'More Nukes' concert.

Weather is different from climate.

Logical fallacy: the name of something describes it.

i.e., the two words "Global" and "Warning" do not describe the phenomenon called "Global Warming."
