IGT, 3/6 vs. St. Louis

The Mets go up against Dennys Reyes today at 12:05 with Jonathan Niese, and I'm declaring it a must-winTM after they needed a ninth-inning comeback to beat the Fordham Baldies yesterday.

With any luck, we could see a lineup accessoried with minor-league loanees like Reese Havens or even Wilmer Flores.

Valentin, 3b

And here are today's pitchers:

Jonathon Neise
Mike Antonini
Heriberto Ruelas
Adam Bostick
Carlos Muniz
Duaner Sanchez
Rocky Cherry
Eddie Kunz.

WOW!

There was a small blurb in the early edition of the Snooze that quoted Omar as saying that it "would be fun to see a 17 year old" (Wilmer Flores) hitting against major league pitchers. I hope he gets some playing time.

Mets come up empty in the first after Castillo leads off with a double and is sacrificed over by Valentin. Bunting in the first: not for winners.

Niese gets 'em in order in the bottom half, including whiffage of Albert Pujols.

Jonathan puked up a pair of runs in the second, courtesy of a two-run single by Khalil "The Prophet" Green, who is a key to hopes in Cardinalia this year.

The Mets turned a DP in the inning but a passed ball helped set up the runs.

Khalil Greene will probably cause me to hate the Cardinals more than usual this year, which is a lot.

The SortaMets thundered back, including a two-run triple from Danny Murphy. Michael Antonioni threw two innings of scoreless one-hit ball, but then Eddie Kunz gave one back. The KindaMets lead 4-3 as Adam "The Stapler" Bostick comes on.

Bostick gives one back!

It's 4-4 after seven!

Duaner walks two but escapes!

We've got a dogfight!

And the Mets score one in the ninth to win!

Win goes to Carlos Muniz for a scoreless eighth, save goes to Rocky Cherry for a scoreless ninth. Jose Velentin goes three for four with two runs scored, plus the stupid bunt.

From the box, looks like he went 2 for 2. The RBI may have come when he was acting as the "D"-word. *
