Big Game for Freddy IGT

Suck lineup (all but Murphy could not make the squad) in Lakeland to face the Tigers this afternoon, but a big test for the Chief.

Mets say they're going to play out the Hernandez-Garcia-Redding thing to the end.

FWIW Ralph last night was pretty high on Hernandez .When Ralph left the booth I left the game.

Edwin Jackson is the opposing pitcher. Timo Perez in the lineup.

Mets going with

I think Evans, Sully, Valentin, Kielty, and such are still in the mix. If they really open with a four-man rotation, it could lead to a lot of interesting opportunities.

  1. Sullivan, cf

  2. Valentin, 2b

  3. Murphy, dh

  4. Evans, 1b

  5. Kielty, rf

  6. Reed, lf

  7. A. Green, 3b

  8. Santos, c

  9. Tejada, ss
Garcia, rhp

Lakeland must be a ride from PSL , if Gary Carter were the manager he'd probably ban such trips.

Absolutely. Just pointing out that 9 of the 10 starters in this game might not make it.

Probably about 2.5 to 3 hours. I bet the Mets miss having a team in Vero Beach.

Cats up 1-0 on a double and RBI sac fly by Timo.

Mets 9 up, 9 down so far.

HR to Adam Everett and Freddy is done

2.1 IP, 2 Hits, 2 runs, 1 whiff, 1 walk.

I guess that's not bad for him.

Parnell has relieved.

The NY Post Blog Guys sez of Freddy:

]The right-hander's ERA is down to 13.50 from 20.25, but that's it as far as the positives considering he struggled to reach 85 mph with his fastball. Most of the readings on the scout guns were in the low 80s, and one of the Tigers' hits was a long homer by light-hitting Adam Everett out of the No. 9 hole.

The upper bound of how "interesting" is constrained somewhat-- Every one of 'em but Evans is part of the Must Clear Waivers Club once added to the 40.

Sure, plus Valentin probably won't go near the club unless he gets some competitive reps in AAA to show his body's not finished.

After this episode of "The Freddy and the Tigers," it's Livan in the lead...

But with 2 2/3 scoreless innings today, Parnell is moving up fast on the outside. That 96+ MPH heater is intriguing.
