From the News:
Former Yankees great Bernie Williams insisted Friday that he did not smack a woman in the face for snapping the center fielder's picture in a San Juan nightclub.
"Williams denies any wrongdoing, and we feel that some published media reports are inaccurate," Williams spokesman Steve Fortunato said in a brief statement.
Williams, on the advice of his attorney, declined to make any further comment about the incident that occurred around 2:30 a.m. in Puerto Rico, Fortunato said.
The unidentified woman filed a complaint against the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Williams hours after he played for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.
The popular center fielder and the woman were inside the nightclub when Williams became angry about the woman taking his picture, the complaint said.
Williams then grabbed and damaged the camera before hitting the woman in the face, the complaint said. Police in San Juan were investigating the incident.
