Batting .167, Milledge sent to minors

Associated Press
WASHINGTON -- Nationals center fielder Lastings Milledge has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.

Milledge is batting .167 with no extra-base hits, one RBI, one walk and 10 strikeouts this season. He has been hitting in the leadoff spot.

Washington is 0-7, the only team in the major leagues without a victory.

The Nationals did not immediately announce who will replace Milledge on the active roster. They were off Tuesday and scheduled to host Philadelphia on Wednesday.

I still love this trade.

Milledge patroling the outfield at Citi would give me more nightmares than Murphy.

this guy could easily have the "bust" label in another year or two.
they had a heck of a logjam in the outfield/1b (Johnson, Dunn, Milledge, Dukes, Kearns, and Willingham for 4 positions) so this helps get the other guys (and milledge, though at aaa) more regular at-bats. this team really needs to find someone who wants one of these guys (other than dunn and probably dukes) for a pitcher or at least a couple of decent (non-outfield) prospects.

One less Nat for Chico Harlan to cover.

Oh wait, they bring up somebody to replace him. Bad news for the cheeky beat reporter who hates writing about baseball.
