Mets

A walk, two singles and a double (in that order) lead to just one run, no thanks to a pickoff of Murphy and the slow-footed Delgado. Second and third, two out for Church.
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 06:31 PM |
Church hits a little squirt at the third baseman and that's that.
Willets Point Apr 21 2009 06:34 PM |
Swany - aka gf212121 - it's great to see you after all these years.
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 06:41 PM |
It can't be years - weeks at most. But thanks, and thanks to everyone else who has offered greetings, as well as to the folks who kept poking me to dip a toe back in.
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 06:47 PM |
Wellemeyer (which must be German for What the Hell?) walks Perez, then Jose flips one over Greene's head. After five hits and two walks it's 2-0.
Kong76 Apr 21 2009 06:52 PM |
S S H is gf2121 and Willets is back?
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 06:53 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Apr 21 2009 06:54 PM |
Last I saw, on a walkway at Citi Field surrounded by folding tables.
metirish Apr 21 2009 06:53 PM |
I'm with Swanie , the sound is rubbish . Not a bad thing if it were YES I suppose.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 06:54 PM |
TREMENDOUS!
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 06:55 PM |
Great sliding catch in foul ground by the Gold Glove Mets 3B. Can of corn and it's two outs, bottom 2nd.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 07:15 PM |
Holy shit! It's a two out rally and a hit with a RISP. I just choked on my Pop Tart here.
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 07:16 PM |
Greene doesn't make the play on a Perez grounder, then Jose and Murff single for one more run. Wright, who was frozen like Walt Disney last time up, with a chance to pile on here.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 07:18 PM |
It's nice to se Khalil Greene opening that inning with the kind of unsteady defense he gave to San Diego.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 07:19 PM |
Seriously. Looked like me trying not to step in dog poop while mowing the yard. But a 4-0 lead is nice. Jeez, it's been a week since we had that kind of lead!
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 07:23 PM |
A little adventurous by
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 07:25 PM |
Hey, Molina, stop adjusting your crotch.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 07:27 PM |
Greene walks on four pitches by saying, "Hey, Ollie --- let's party!"
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 07:30 PM |
Wow. Ollie strikes out Thurston with the bases loaded and two outs. And he's halfway to first before the ump rings him up. Close call!
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 07:30 PM |
Ollie walks Khalil, but the Cards can't Prophet as Thurston fans looking. Still 4-0 Metsies.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 07:38 PM |
Pujols = really good player.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 07:41 PM |
Ankiel rockin the porno moustache.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 07:43 PM |
Eh. Poo holes lines one into the corner and it's 4-2.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 07:46 PM |
Casey Fossum wearing 47 in the pen.
Willets Point Apr 21 2009 07:47 PM |
Cripes! Yadier F. Molina with a runner in scoring position.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 07:49 PM |
Ollie gone all ca ca poo poo on the strike zone, trying to get thru the 5th and hand it over to the new guy.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 07:51 PM |
Molina adjusting his nutsack again. He's grosser than Wright.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 07:52 PM |
My dad would always say the same thing. "That guy's a real ballplayer." Still funny.
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 07:54 PM |
Where's Ray Walston when you need him?
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 07:55 PM |
Ugh. Ollie can't do it twice, this time walks in a run. Hook for him, Casey Fossum in.
bmfc1 Apr 21 2009 07:55 PM |
I know the Braves overpaid for Lowe but it would have been worth it not to be subjected to this crap from Perez.
metirish Apr 21 2009 07:56 PM |
Down the swanny goes Ollie.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 07:57 PM |
Really? Casey Fossum?
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 07:58 PM |
So Fossum has been a starter in AAA, and now he's thrown in as a RP on his first day in the bigs? With the bases loaded? Dumb.
metirish Apr 21 2009 07:59 PM |
Balls
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 07:59 PM |
No question. I know Pedro's arm is going to fall off, but lefties can't hit him. Fossum's not a specialist, he's a long man. Dreadful call by Jerry.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 07:59 PM |
Welcome to the Mets, Casey. We prefer strikes here.

Of course LaRussa could have pinch hit a righty to face Feliciano, I suppose. Still -- give the rook a fresh inning for his first appearance. Right? I don't get it.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 08:03 PM |
Marlins lose. This is good.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 08:04 PM |
Slappy McSinglesmuch with yet another hit. Cora PH for Fossum.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 08:05 PM |
He's not a kid -- he's 31 years old and has pitched almost 800 major league innings -- but still, that's a rough assignment the day you get called up.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 08:05 PM |
I like this Castillo kid. He's spunky. We should sign him to a long-term deal.
PiggiesTomatoes Apr 21 2009 08:12 PM |
Perez...Million dollar arm; $0.50 head. He is a bloody horror show out there. Staked with a 4-0 lead, he just oozes trouble from every pore.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 08:23 PM |
Catcher's interference?!?! Fucking hell.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 08:23 PM |
YA! Pretty. I like Stokes.
Willets Point Apr 21 2009 08:24 PM |
Yadier F Molina with the bases loaded. Crap.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 08:25 PM |
Blue has not been our friend this season.
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 08:39 PM |
Nice, calm play by Feliciano getting the lead guy there.
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 08:43 PM |
Tony LaRussa, Boy Genius, sends up pitcher Adam Wainwright (from the olde English: Person who makes Wains), and Feliciano makes them both look silly.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 08:44 PM |
This is a grindy game. Who do you go to next?
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 08:50 PM |
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME, CARLOS?!?! SLIDE! WHAT THE HELL!!!
Nymr83 Apr 21 2009 08:53 PM |
yeah. that. what the damn hell is wrong with this team
metsguyinmichigan Apr 21 2009 08:53 PM |
Radio is making it sound like Molina had the plate blocked well. Was it as bad as it sounded?
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 08:54 PM |
Ah, fucking hell, Murphy.
metsguyinmichigan Apr 21 2009 08:54 PM |
Aw hell, Murph!
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 08:54 PM |
There's got to be sliding practice tomorrow. Enough of this shit. He's Molina; he's not a brick wall.
Nymr83 Apr 21 2009 08:54 PM |
Murphy, not Church, should lose ABs to Sheffield because i'm not sure you lose anything defensively.
themetfairy Apr 21 2009 08:55 PM |
I cannot take this fucking game.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 08:55 PM |
He had a foot in front of home plate. A slide beats him easily, because the throw was high and Molina couldn't have gotten down in time.
batmagadanleadoff Apr 21 2009 08:55 PM |
Nice stirrups on that Ryan guy, for those who prefer to look away from left field whenever a Met opponent hits the ball there.
metirish Apr 21 2009 08:56 PM |
Jeez they are playing like it's late September and they can't wait to hit the beach.
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 08:56 PM |
Murphy's play was gruesome, but those were two ropes off of Putz so far.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 08:56 PM |
Was Castillo not helping him?
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 08:56 PM |
He's getting exposed out there. I know they love his potential bat, but it's just not working. You need to have someone out there who can play, and if you're going to contend, you can't give games away the way they have tonight.
batmagadanleadoff Apr 21 2009 08:57 PM |
Who's in left tonight: Todd Hundley?
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 08:58 PM |
Scored a triple. I don't get that stuff.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 08:59 PM |
Just rewound it, and no. Castillo was still hanging out in the on-deck circle. And Razor Shines was pointing Beltran back to third; Carlos went on his own. A smart move to go for it, but a dumbass move not to slide.
PiggiesTomatoes Apr 21 2009 09:00 PM |
How Beltran doesn't slide with the play in front of him is amazin'
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 09:00 PM |
Good point by Darling - if Beltran scores Murphy isn't out there with the lead.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 09:01 PM |

Because his glove never touched the ball. He started in, then stopped and fell on his ass and the ball flew over his head.
PiggiesTomatoes Apr 21 2009 09:01 PM |
Poor Putz deserved a better fate, though they are hitting the ball hard.
batmagadanleadoff Apr 21 2009 09:01 PM |
Can't blame Aaron Heilman for this one.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 09:02 PM |
Gary's not on his game today. "With Ollie pitching well today"? Are you watching the same game, Gary?
metsguyinmichigan Apr 21 2009 09:02 PM |
Wheels off. Ick.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 09:03 PM |
Yeah, I don't think working by the touch-the glove rule is particularly rational. A free throw is still a free throw whether it hits the rim or not.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 09:03 PM |
Well this game has gone from bad to worse.
Swan Swan H Apr 21 2009 09:04 PM |
I get Edgy's point. Falling on your ass is as much an error as dropping the ball. Why one is considered an error every time and the other rarely is makes no sense to me.
PiggiesTomatoes Apr 21 2009 09:04 PM |
That's still better than The Mad Hungarian and some hack I'm watching on the STL Extra Innings feed. I love FIOS but they need to carry the SNY feed.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 09:05 PM |
Yeah. That's clearly an error. A mental error, maybe, because he misjudged it, but an error nonetheless. Come on, Looie. Let's get this fucking thing started.
Frayed Knot Apr 21 2009 09:05 PM |
Worst game of the year unless there's a miraculous comeback starting right now! (and seeing as how we haven't scored since the 4th inning ...)
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 09:05 PM |
He was fine through four. Jerry can rip them if he must, but bunting Churchie was his call.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 09:08 PM |
Who the hell is this Ryan kid? He looks like he's twelve years old, but he's been positioned perfectly on two shoulda-been hits tonight.
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 09:08 PM |
Last dance last chance for love...
Frayed Knot Apr 21 2009 09:08 PM |
What the fuck is that 2nd baseman doing there?!?
Fman99 Apr 21 2009 09:09 PM |
Well that sucked moose cock.
metirish Apr 21 2009 09:11 PM |
It was like two different games , horrible second half if I can say that and it makes sense.
seawolf17 Apr 21 2009 09:11 PM |
And Thurston's positioned perfectly too! He must have been playing twenty feet shallow of third base. Fucking hell.
Edgy DC Apr 21 2009 09:11 PM |
PotG: Pujols.

It's fitting that on a day when some guy named Casey debuts for the Mets, I'm asking myself: "Can't anybody play this game?"
Rockin' Doc Apr 21 2009 09:28 PM |
The Mets did all in their power to ensure the fans in St. Louis went home happy with a victory. Inability to throw strikes, poor baserunning, and Murphy once again playing the role of Santa Claus doomed the Mets to yet another frustrating loss.
Rockin' Doc Apr 21 2009 09:29 PM |
Edgy - "Murph has more wheels than I would have thought. Too bad he needs to go back to sliding school."
themetfairy Apr 22 2009 09:27 AM |
I had to put up with shit in the supermarket this morning from a smug Phillies phan.
seawolf17 Apr 22 2009 09:59 AM |

Screw that; kick them in the nuts. They're 6-6, with the worst pitching staff in the NL. Don't take that crap from them.
