]"Maybe I want to try it one more time. If I don't feel the way I'm supposed to be feeling right now, I don't know. I have to make a decision what I'm going to do. I don't know yet. Hopefully next time I'll feel better. I want to wait for tomorrow and see how I feel. I don't feel I have any power so I tried to do the best I can do with whatever I have."
Freddy Garcia, after giving up 6 runs in the 5th inning of his last start in Buffalo.
]Garcia has an 8.18 earned run average and has lost both his starts for the Herd. He threw 80 pitches Monday, 54 for strikes. He twice hit 85 mph and had a few other pitches in the low 80s. He was mostly in the mid-70s and was throwing offspeed stuff in the mid-60s.
]"I want to do the best things I can the next couple days. I want to feel better. Hopefully it will work out for me but I don't know. I'm working really hard to try to get right but my shoulder doesn't respond. "I'm going to try my best. If not, I guess I'll go home. I don't know. That's it, man."

For some reason, I had had the impression that Freddy was breathing down Livan's neck. (Or Oliver's!)

Guess not!

So who's the best threat to dislodge someone from the rotation? Redding or Niese I suppose.

I was just hoping that over the course of all these outings Garcia might find his arm strength improving and getting his velocity back but doesn;t look good yet.

He's like the Ollie of the International League: Gonna give it one last shot.

By the way the Snooze notes that Redding pitched 4 scoreless innings at an xtended spring training start Saturday and is scheduled to go 75 pitches for St. Lucie on Thursday.

Redding suddenly looks an attractive prospect for a rotation spot , still that's a while away?

Whoa. Mets released Freddy this morning, snoozeday reports.

That saves 'em some $$$, anyway.

That's because you're insane. Mad, I tells ye'.

These guys we have are going to congeal into a rotation. They'll have their bad days, but they'll suffice. They key this team is an offense that shows up and executes consistently.

From Mets Blog:

"According to David Lennon of Newsday, the Mets released Freddy Garcia from Triple-A Buffalo.

Garcia will be replaced on the roster by Nelson Figueroa, who will start tonight against Triple-A Rochester.

Wily Mo Pena will be added to the Triple-A roster as well."

So he joins Glenn Davis, Andres Gallaraga and Brett Boone as former All-Stars who came to Mets camp and never made it to Queens.

My memory....my Dad won his white jersey when we attended the spring home opener -- signed and everything. I guess he wore it for photo day and never again.

Seems like every team in the Mets minor league system is averaging about two runs per game. So, a major leaguer pitching four scoreless innings against guys who didn't make those teams isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.
But, its something that shows he may be getting closer to being healthy.
