Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I predicted it, and stand by it ... the death of this place will be Facebook or something like it.
A lot of the camaraderie seems to be over there now and only referred to here. It appeals to the "friends only" (and you can be super friendly with pic tures and personal stuff) nature of our early elitist roots of only letting cer- tain people in unless you're already a "member" or are willing to act in an on- line manner acceptable to the group of friends.

This is the first site I come to every morning after the home page . This is far more important than FB.

There's no danger of my leaving the Cranepool for Facebook (or my space). I don't have an account for either and don't forsee getting one any time soon.
As with Irish, this is generally the first site I check, after my homepage, when I'm online.
I hope KC's prediction never comes to fruition. This place gets awfully slow at times and I would hate to see it grind to a virtual standstill because everyone abandoned the site or spent most of their time conversing on Facebook.

since i can't get facebook at work, but can get this, there's really no chance that fb'll supplant the cpf for the vast majority of my attention.

Not that I'm on FB often, but my name is Scott Gianelli. Look for the kitten.

Facebook is a nice place for light banter with dimly remembered friends, but there's so much noise there that it's not really made for conversation.
That's not to say that something else won't come along and make this forum obsolete someday, but it doesn't look like Facebook will be it.

Don't believe him for a minute folks. Mr. SoCal Surfer Dude has a pretty high sexy quotient in his friend list, and I say that without even counting myself.
Friend A Boy Named Seo and you are one degree of separation from Haht!

I have two Facebook pages now. One is for work, and I use it to post stories and drive people back to The Press Website. The other is a personal one with family and friends.
(You guys count as friends, unless you really want to know about Michigan schools. If so, have at it!)
I did this because I kept getting work-related people kept asking to be friends.
I felt strange about posting photos of the kids intended for my relatives and shots of my Shea rubble, which I thought you guys might like, in places where these school folks whom I know only professionally could see them, too.
This seems to have worked out pretty well.

If anything, I feel more connected to the CPF now that I have names and faces to relate to some of the posters. Facebook has its place, but it's a weak platform for IGTs and other useful discussion threads. It's no replacement for the 'pool.
