He's a good egg. Provided the famous Jesse Orosco scorecard.

Alls I'm saying is that your doppleganger is wearing a baby blue pullover.

I hope you're getting a cut, JCL - it looks like you may have started a franchise...

Baby blue pullovers should be in the sole possession of Brian Keith

Ditto!

Or at least a place of prominence on the acknowledgment page!

This apparently is becoming a series:

Vol. 1: Retired Numbers
Vol. 2: Numbers that should be retired according to Yankees fanbois.

They even copied your cover! You should sue.

I'm certain the potential for a series was part of the original appeal of Bucket's pitch.

Well, then I hope he gets a shitload of royalties and treats us all to a suite at Citi Field this summer.

It bugs me that JCL spent ten years of his life (perhaps more) devoted to the details for his book while these other authors are just whipping them out. At least that the perception I get.

You have to know that the Yankees version of the book will retroactively become the one that inspired all the others.

Way to feature four cards that don't show any numbers.

Yankees by the Numbers --- the book that makes all the other books on the shelf better.

seawolf17
May 26 2009 08:14 AM

Well, of course [u:7rj18hxc]Yankees By The Numbers[/u:7rj18hxc] came first. The Yankees INVENTED numbers. And besides, do you understand how hard it is to chronicle all those numbers? The guy who copied their idea and made that Mets book probably took twenty minutes and threw it together. He should send all his royalty checks directly to the Steinbrenners for mooching off their success.

The book isn't only a testament to greatness.
It is also a philosophical statement.
They feel that putting players' names on the backs of uniforms is cheap, tawdry and only for lesser teams.

There's only one true By the Numbers book.
