Check the bats and balls, the Mets are hitting ding dongs off a soft tosser.

Woot Castro!

Moyer on the run
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 07 2009 06:17 PM |
This is the can of whoopass I've been waiting for them to open on someone's ass. Better than 7 runs so far is that they've scored them in 3 different innings.
Benjamin Grimm May 07 2009 06:17 PM |
Six-run leads are very nice.
metsguyinmichigan May 07 2009 06:17 PM |
Nice job by Blastro! Pelf's got a nice cushion.
Kong76 May 07 2009 06:18 PM |
I looked at a quick discography for The Sweet and this isn't on the one I

Have you been paying attention the last two years?
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 07 2009 06:27 PM |
Throw a strike Mike.
Zvon May 07 2009 06:33 PM |
We needed 2 DPs to get outta that one, and we got em.
Benjamin Grimm May 07 2009 06:33 PM |
My hope for Pelfrey right now is that he go deep enough into the game to circumvent any need for Sean Green.
Zvon May 07 2009 06:47 PM |
Nice smooth 5th for Pelf.
Zvon May 07 2009 06:58 PM |
Howard smacks one over the 415 mark into the Mets bullpen.
Edgy DC May 07 2009 07:03 PM |
Gary: Jerry Manuel was talking earlier about getting Parnell a day off, about getting K-Rod a day off.
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 07:09 PM |
Would like to see at least one more strong inning out of Pelfrey.
Zvon May 07 2009 07:17 PM |
Nice 7th for Pelf.
Willets Point May 07 2009 07:23 PM |
Seven runs isn't padding a lead?
Zvon May 07 2009 07:25 PM |
Sure it is. So I'll relax when the score is 10-3 Mets.
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 07:28 PM |
I meant since the pitching change. We've be running in place against Happ & Condrey while the Phils have chipped away with one or two.
bmfc1 May 07 2009 07:31 PM |
MF Victorino ran into Reyes! These umps are awful!
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 07 2009 07:31 PM |
Jer-ry
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 07:32 PM |
Seems to me that we've gotten dicked on a couple of baseline obstruction/interference calls in the last year or two.
OlerudOwned May 07 2009 07:32 PM |
Awful call. Reyes made a clear effort to jump out of the way and Victorino forearmed him.
Zvon May 07 2009 07:32 PM |
That was one messed up play.
bmfc1 May 07 2009 07:34 PM |
That reminds me of the WBC game when Victorino stood on the base at 2d but subtly stuck out his leg so a throw from CF, after a catch, would hit him and he could advance.
Fman99 May 07 2009 07:35 PM |
Victorino's a real scumbag.
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 07:36 PM |
Same 1B ump who missed the call on a should-be GiDP before.
Zvon May 07 2009 07:38 PM |
fuck
Nymr83 May 07 2009 07:38 PM |
dont look now, we've got a game again.
OlerudOwned May 07 2009 07:39 PM |
Man, fuck Jayson Werth right in his stupid Spezio-douchepatch.
Edgy DC May 07 2009 07:39 PM |
Angel Hernandez has those intangibles. He inspires the other umps with his performance.
metsguyinmichigan May 07 2009 07:41 PM |
Feliciano got hosed there. Horrible.
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 07:41 PM |
Victorino's not the problem there. A runner caught like that should do everything he can to try to get a call. And it's not like he threw the elbow maliciously, he just needed to make contract. It's the stupid ump's fault for falling for it.
Fman99 May 07 2009 07:43 PM |
Not only that, he should've struck out but for the fact that he convinced the home plate ump that he had fouled off a pitch that he never touched. So he got the Mets twice in that inning. The fuck.
Edgy DC May 07 2009 07:43 PM |
So says the file cabinet with a bandito 'stache.
GYC May 07 2009 07:43 PM |
Victorino is a faggot and so are these umps.
metsguyinmichigan May 07 2009 07:44 PM |
Let's get some more runs here and send these punks packing.
Fman99 May 07 2009 07:44 PM |
I totally disagree. It's dirty pool, he goes out of his way to bump Reyes and put a shoulder into him when Reyes is moving out of the basepath. And the ump totally missed it. That's like defending A-Rod's ball slap in the ALCS back when. I am going to start calling Victorino "The Lyin Hawaiian."
Edgy DC May 07 2009 07:46 PM |
It's not like David Wright hasn't tried to take out the centerfielder with a slide.
GYC May 07 2009 07:47 PM |
Lol -- audible Jayson Werthless chant.
metsguyinmichigan May 07 2009 07:48 PM |
That was Super Joe's best line ever -- Why are you trying to take out Andruw Jones?
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 07:48 PM |
Playing for one run with Ramon Castro as the runner is a really bad idea.
Fman99 May 07 2009 07:49 PM |
Santos is in as the pinch runner actually. It's still a bad idea though.
metsguyinmichigan May 07 2009 07:49 PM |
It's Santos. They pulled Castro.
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 07:51 PM |
Serves me right for going into the kitchen during the pitching change ... but it's still a bad idea.
Fman99 May 07 2009 07:53 PM |
Frankie going for the save for the fourth straight game. Go get em kid.
Fman99 May 07 2009 07:53 PM |
Hey, Jimmy Dean fingers, get off my TV. I quit smoking eight years ago. Take that shit to Dateline.
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 07:55 PM |

Again, blame the ump. Making or even faking contact is exactly what runners are taught to do in that situation.
Not the same - either in intent or in degree.
Zvon May 07 2009 07:55 PM |
Rodriguez in for the save.
Fman99 May 07 2009 07:55 PM |
Can of corn. One down.
Zvon May 07 2009 07:56 PM |
Feliz swings at the 1st pitch and pops out to left.
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 07:56 PM |
I'm very Feliz that he popped up that first one.
Fman99 May 07 2009 07:57 PM |

How is it any different? They're both cheating and hoping to get away with it. The only difference is that A-Rod got called out and Hawaii Five-Fuck didn't.
Edgy DC May 07 2009 07:57 PM |
Love that .083 OBP, Miguel Cairo.
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 07:58 PM |
Cairo dribbles like an Egyptian.
metsguyinmichigan May 07 2009 07:58 PM |
Dos!
PiggiesTomatoes May 07 2009 07:58 PM |
Bye, Bye Cairo.
Fman99 May 07 2009 07:59 PM |
Dribbler to Reyes, two down. Stairs comes up looking for a Chunky bar and a hit.
PiggiesTomatoes May 07 2009 08:00 PM |
Stairs reminds of Rusty, the last years. He's only missing the rib sauce on the uni.
Fman99 May 07 2009 08:00 PM |
Foul ball to the upper deck. Creamed it.
Zvon May 07 2009 08:03 PM |
He did. Takes a walk. Phils talking heads note the shortness of the foul poles at Citi Field. They are kinda short, aren't they?
metsguyinmichigan May 07 2009 08:04 PM |
YES!!!!!
Fman99 May 07 2009 08:05 PM |
Put it in the books. AGAIN.
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 08:05 PM |
And Castillo [u:0ba0977424]two hands it[/u:0ba0977424] for the out.
PiggiesTomatoes May 07 2009 08:05 PM |
Put it in the books!
Zvon May 07 2009 08:05 PM |
YES.

Kong76 May 07 2009 08:14 PM |
Nice to see the guys with the straws on a stick ... two mini sweeps.
Frayed Knot May 07 2009 08:17 PM |
You're a bit broad with your use of the word 'cheating' here. There's a big difference between one runner using his hands to smack someone hard enough to make them drop the ball and another making it look like: 'ooh look Mr. umpire, I just plum runned into this guy standing right in my way' in order to steal a call. The latter is not only done all the time but is taught that way. The former is explicitly against the rules and was so rarely seen that ARod doing it not only invited the near universal ridicule he got but deserved it as well. And once more (with feeling); It WAS a BAD call - but the bad here was on Welke for making it, not Victorino for trying.
Fman99 May 07 2009 08:19 PM |
I respectfully disagree.
Gwreck May 07 2009 09:10 PM |
All 3 of the home runs were announced as being 400+ feet, with I think a quote of 425 for Wright's centerfield shot.
