Nick Evans almost made the Mets, would have if not for Sheffield's arrival, and has now been sent from AAA to extended ST for a week. He'll then go to Binghamton.

Those transparent pngs of the logos? With the reflections underneath?

Shweet.

Now, can somebody explain to me what Ryan Church did to get into the doghouse? He starts the season on fire and now he's getting benched half the time or more as if it's intended to cool him off and keep him cool.

May 12 2009 05:21 PM

That lineup doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

OlerudOwned
May 12 2009 05:25 PM

Reading the Mets.com game preview, it was pointed out that Manuel fully intended on keeping Church benched again today regardless of how Reed performed yesterday.

Edgy DC
May 12 2009 05:26 PM

Do it say why?

OlerudOwned
May 12 2009 05:33 PM

]Jeremy Reed started in right field and Ryan Church, who has three hits in his most recent 32 at-bats didn't play. Reed had a double, a single and a walk in four plate appearances. Even before that, Manuel said he intended to start him again Tuesday.

Mystifying. It really can't even be argued that it's just because of the slump, because Manuel made this sort of mindset clear from the outset of spring when he handed the starting spot to Murphy.

Another argument for spikes first sliding.

oe: (I guess I should explain myself, Wright slid into second head first and
his hand was blocked nicely by recipient of throw and he was CS)

Absolutely no reason to pull Pelfrey here. None whatsoever. This is dumb.

Was Rusty the answer to the SNY trivia question?

500 hits with four teams; Houston, Mets, Expos, and Tigers?

Yes.

Another fun fact: he is one of three players to homer before turning 20 and
after turning 40. Who are the other two?

Can't anybody here slide feet first and give the guy with the ball something to think about?

Sheffield's one, right?

It's big names like Cobb and Mantle or someone.

I'm having a Mets panic attack ...

Kong76

Or Cobb and Sheffield ;-)

GYC

Yeah, Cobb and Sheffield. I forget where I learned it, but I read it awhile
ago. Well, when I read it, it was just Staub and Cobb.

How incredibly stupid. He's a very good but f-ing retarded player. If they fail to tie, that's two games in a row he's cost them big time. Nice ball to the gap, though.

On paper, it kinda works. Shef's still got bat speed to spare, Muff is scuffling, and O'Flaherty has a massive platoon split.

In real life? Apparently not.
