bmfc1 May 12 2009 05:04 PM IGT Braves @ Mets, 05/12/09 Edited 1 time(s), most recently on May 12 2009 05:12 PM |
Nick Evans almost made the Mets, would have if not for Sheffield's arrival, and has now been sent from AAA to extended ST for a week. He'll then go to Binghamton.

Edgy DC May 12 2009 05:08 PM |
Those transparent pngs of the logos? With the reflections underneath?
holychicken May 12 2009 05:21 PM |
That lineup doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.
OlerudOwned May 12 2009 05:25 PM |
Reading the Mets.com game preview, it was pointed out that Manuel fully intended on keeping Church benched again today regardless of how Reed performed yesterday.
Edgy DC May 12 2009 05:26 PM |
Do it say why?

http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090511&content_id=4676824&vkey=news_nym&fext=.jsp&c_id=nym Mystifying. It really can't even be argued that it's just because of the slump, because Manuel made this sort of mindset clear from the outset of spring when he handed the starting spot to Murphy.
Kong76 May 12 2009 05:38 PM |
Another argument for spikes first sliding.
Kong76 May 12 2009 06:14 PM |
Swing the freakin' bat, David.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 12 2009 06:25 PM |
Let's go streaking!
GYC May 12 2009 06:54 PM |
Absolutely no reason to pull Pelfrey here. None whatsoever. This is dumb.
Kong76 May 12 2009 06:56 PM |
Was Rusty the answer to the SNY trivia question?
Willets Point May 12 2009 06:56 PM |

Jerry is a secular humanist.
GYC May 12 2009 06:57 PM |
Yes. Another fun fact: he is one of three players to homer before turning 20 and after turning 40. Who are the other two?
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 06:57 PM |
Ah crap.
GYC May 12 2009 06:57 PM |
Fire Razor Shines.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 12 2009 06:58 PM |
For fuck's sake.
Swan Swan H May 12 2009 07:00 PM |

Well, if you're counting the Fresh Meadows Softball League, me. Can't anybody here slide feet first and give the guy with the ball something to think about?
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 12 2009 07:05 PM |

Sheffield's one, right?
Kong76 May 12 2009 07:06 PM |
It's big names like Cobb and Mantle or someone.
Kong76 May 12 2009 07:07 PM |
Or Cobb and Sheffield ;-)
GYC May 12 2009 07:09 PM |
Yeah, Cobb and Sheffield. I forget where I learned it, but I read it awhile
PiggiesTomatoes May 12 2009 07:15 PM |
Rally caps, boys!
GYC May 12 2009 07:20 PM |
WHAT ARE YOU FUCKING DOING REYES?!
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 07:20 PM |
How fucking great and stupid at the same time
metirish May 12 2009 07:21 PM |

Never even looked the replay showed.....

(repeat)
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 07:27 PM |
Chef to hit for Muffy here vs. the lefty.
PiggiesTomatoes May 12 2009 07:28 PM |
How incredibly stupid. He's a very good but f-ing retarded player. If they fail to tie, that's two games in a row he's cost them big time. Nice ball to the gap, though.
TheOldMole May 12 2009 07:28 PM |
Is Sheffield for Murphy such a great idea?
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 07:30 PM |
Not the result we mighta hoped for but I'll make that move every time considering how Muffy has been going lately.

On paper, it kinda works. Shef's still got bat speed to spare, Muff is scuffling, and O'Flaherty has a massive platoon split. In real life? Apparently not.
Swan Swan H May 12 2009 07:32 PM |
The Mets have run for the cycle tonight.
PiggiesTomatoes May 12 2009 07:33 PM |
Do they have drug testing for managers? Between being asleep at the wheel last night leaving Feliciano in against Diaz, pulling Pelfrey and Danny baseball tonight. See if he's betting on the games.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 07:38 PM |
Rally panties on, NOW!!!
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 07:41 PM |
Swan Swan H May 12 2009 07:41 PM |
Tie it, then win it. Nothing to it.
PiggiesTomatoes May 12 2009 07:42 PM |
Thanks, Dave. Another useless AB.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 12 2009 07:43 PM |
Holycrapholycrapholycrap.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 07:44 PM |
Big steal of 3rd, holy crap.
Swan Swan H May 12 2009 07:44 PM |
At this moment I have for cahn-fidence in Tatis than Wright. This too shall pass, but let's see Freddy Teats yank one.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 07:45 PM |
Yeah Tatis.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 12 2009 07:46 PM |
"So... one out. Tatis got on, so... who do we have that can hit into a DP for Reed?"
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 12 2009 07:46 PM |
"Grab a bat, Luis."
Swan Swan H May 12 2009 07:46 PM |
I feel a sudden calm. Luis shall succeed.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 07:47 PM |
Hurrah, we're all free now.
PiggiesTomatoes May 12 2009 07:48 PM |
Dang, Luis is swinging hard....and it pays off. Yeeha!
metirish May 12 2009 07:49 PM |
HUH? WTF?
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 07:49 PM |
Boy are we making outs on the basepaths tonight.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 12 2009 07:51 PM |
Maybe we should run not-running drills before tomorrow's game.

Holy crap, McCann hits one and Gary makes the same foul-pole point LWFS and me and that other guy discussed last night.
seawolf17 May 12 2009 07:57 PM |
Sheffield.
TheOldMole May 12 2009 07:57 PM |
Damn Chipper.

Larry's got a very high baseball IQ.

Ah there it is.

IBB to McCann pays off as Frankie induces two cans of corn.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 08:00 PM |
Frankie and the Knockouts, here we go.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 12 2009 08:00 PM |
Good one, Churchy-- two hands is the way your savior intended you to catch.

Tension here
Fman99 May 12 2009 08:01 PM |
The SNY commercials with the two foreign guys running the souvenir shop are fantastic, every one of them.
Edgy DC May 12 2009 08:02 PM |
I like when the reality that we're home forces the manager to use the relief ace in a tie game.
metirish May 12 2009 08:04 PM |
They remind me of the guys that used to feature on Letterman years ago..

metsguyinmichigan May 12 2009 08:07 PM |
Sounds like Reyes is in Bennett's head...
Edgy DC May 12 2009 08:07 PM |
Interesting situation. A steal just means walk Cora and burn the last guy on the Mets bench and get Francisco Rodriguez out of the game.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 12 2009 08:08 PM |
Whew. (Nice try, Escobar, you sneaky little shit.)
Fman99 May 12 2009 08:08 PM |
Big steal there! IBB to Cora, and it's up to Ramon to get it done here.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 08:09 PM |
Braves not getting the 'Cora Sucks' memo, walks him.
TheOldMole May 12 2009 08:09 PM |
A steal also means a runner in scoring position.
PiggiesTomatoes May 12 2009 08:10 PM |
Bennett looks like Shakes the Pitcher.
TheOldMole May 12 2009 08:10 PM |
3-0!
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 12 2009 08:10 PM |
Well there was the chance Cora hits a single there and wins the game too. That also gets Rodriguez out of there.
metsguyinmichigan May 12 2009 08:11 PM |
Beltran! Just the guy we want up here.
TheOldMole May 12 2009 08:11 PM |
Bases loaded....
Fman99 May 12 2009 08:12 PM |
2-0 to Beltran.
Rockin' Doc May 12 2009 08:12 PM |
Bases jammed for Beltran with the game on the line. There is no one I'd rather have at the plate right now. Come on Carlos!!
Edgy DC May 12 2009 08:13 PM |
Beltran has some shit on his face.
Fman99 May 12 2009 08:13 PM |
3-1!
TheOldMole May 12 2009 08:13 PM |
One more pitch...
apmorris May 12 2009 08:13 PM |

When was the last walk-off walk in a mets win? i always remember losing those games.
metsguyinmichigan May 12 2009 08:17 PM |
Howie just said this is the first time all year they've won after being down in eighth.
Rockin' Doc May 12 2009 08:17 PM |
A walk-off walk. Not exactly how I envisioned it, but it works for me.
Swan Swan H May 12 2009 08:21 PM |
I also don't mind the Mets shoving a blown save up Gonzalez' bunghole.
soupcan May 13 2009 07:56 AM |
They did that? I must have turned off the post-game too early, damn.
metirish May 13 2009 08:18 AM |
