One week ago today, a frustrating 10-13 Mets team went into Atlanta and fell into an early 3-0 hole at the Ted Turner Egoplex. Maine settled down, the Mets scored six runs, and the new blood in the bullpen held on. As y'all know, we've gone on to win 7 straight and have taken over 1st in the division since then. The Braves, meanwhile, seem to have bounced back pretty well from the short-sweep, winning four of five on the road from the Marlins and Phillies. There's last week's edition, and here's the updates.
Lineup
2B - Kelly Johnson: .219/.313/.411, 3 HR Omar Infante: .329/.364/.414, 1 HR Johnson has been losing playing time to the righthanded utilitydude Infante, who is actually the same age (27) as Johnson. Assumed he was older, but that's be-cuz he made his ML debut back as a 20-year old with Detroit. Johnson has looked better the last week, and despite the platoon assumption, he has a 6-14 career line off Johan compared to Infante's meager 2-24.
SS - Yunel Escobar: .286/.350/.420, 3 HR Numbers over the last week have basically reflected his numbers on the season, which themselves are pretty in-tune with his career line. Nice article about his defection and his friendship with Brayan Pena. Don't read it if you don't wish to humanize Braves players. I wouldn't hold it against you.
3B - Chipper Jones: .284/.417/.455, 3 HR Martin Prado: .303/.395/.545, 1 HR Jones left Atlanta's last game with a hyperextended elbow, most likely suffered while pleasuring himself to that sick kind of porn where they, like, step on baby animals and stuff. He's iffy for tonight's game. His backup, Martin Prado, is notable for being a witch. (Video doesn't work, but the screencaps should bring back memories).
C - Brian McCann: .250/.375/.481, 3 HR Returned to the Braves lineup with some fancy new specs, which will hopefully stop him from attempting to stare directly into your soul.
Wife is product of Georgia's famed pretty-girl-in-sundress assembly line, which I can say firsthand is still going strong in these uncertain economic times.

1B - Casey Kotchman: .312/.370/.486, 2 HR Big week for him. Hit his first two homers of the year, then had a 3 RBI performance last night in Philly in a 4-2 win. His daddy is an Angels scout, and I'm going to assume his sister is familiar with Wikipedia editing techniques, as her college softball career is for some reason mention in the opening paragraph of Casey's page.
RF - Jeff Francoeur: .272/.290/.408, 3 HR His strikeout rate this season is down to 10%, compared to an astronomical career figure that comes in a tad below 20%. This would be considered progress were it not for his career low BB% of, drumroll, 3.
Only Neifi Perez, maybe!
LF - Garret Anderson: .191/.250/.277 Longtime member of the Los Anaheim Angels and Disabled List was signed by Atlanta after they missed out on signing his former DL teammate, Ken "Dystrophy as means of Steroid Era Innocence" Griffey, Jr. Apparently there was an error in the transaction paper work, as Anderson has spent most of this season with that old club.
CF - Jordan Schafer: .225/.363/.353, 2 HR Young talent who is right up there with the likes of Manny Ramirez, in terms of career PED suspensions. If you're wondering where all Francoeur's strikeout's went, look no further. (Leads the NL with 42, but has the decency to make up for it by still getting on-base.)
Pitchers and blah-de-blah coming up next, I just want to post this before I close the window or something stupid.
