Tough stretch coming up -- four games in San Francisco, followed by 3 in LA and 3 at Fenway. These there teams are a dominating 39-12 at home this year thus far.

What do you think they'll do? What would you be happy with?

I am hoping for 6-4, expecting 0-10 or worse.

I voted 4-6 , obviously hoping for better....

Oops, I voted for what would make me happy. (5 and 5.) What do I expect? I'm afraid it will be 3 and 7.

Regardless of their record, if they come home within a game of first place, we should be pretty content.

This is the kind of trip that can kill a team in August. Less so in May, but it's still a dangerous week and a half coming up.

6-4 (or better) would be great. 5-5 would be perfectly acceptable. 4-6 would be realistic. Anything less would prove that this team really hasn't turned a corner and there is nothing to really be excited about this year.

I think they'll go 5-5. San Fran can't hit and LA is minus-Manny. I can only hope the Mets can put a better showing at Fenway than they did last time.

i voted 6-4, the mets are a little bit better then all those teams even with current malaises so I expect them to win a few more games.

I voted for fman's sister, but i'd like to see the Mets go 6-4.

I thought I'd bump this. After a 3-0 start, I thought my 3-7 prediction was overly pessimistic. But now it's at 3-4...

If they take one of three in Boston the trip won't be a total loss. They'll hopefully come home within a couple of games of first, and then they can take it from there.

This still doesn't feel at all like a championship team, (although cleonjones21 might say they've already won) but if they hang close and get a few breaks, good things might happen.

Oritz finally hit a home run last night , his first in 149 ab's , really hoping he doesn't explode this weekend.

Not for nothing but I think I nailed it when I said:

Losing Reyes, Cora and Delgado and going 3-7 is worse than going 0-10.

The Mets haven't hit a single home run on this trip. That's seven consecutive games without homering. The last Mets home runs were from Tatis and Sheffield on May 13, back in Queens.

After starting out 3-0 on the trip, anything less than 2 of 3 in Boston will be disappointing to me.

I'm hoping they're able to knock a few out of Fenway.

In fairness, they lost Delgado before the trip. They just couldn't find him again.

That minor minor controvesy about maybe it's time to move Reyes because he didn't run hard is coming back after us, as we're cosmically being reminded of just how hard it is find a shortstop who can hit a lick, much less hit like Reyes.

You dumb, clairvoyant son of a bitch! You could have stopped all this... madness!

Final answer = 5-5

Not too bad considering the all the travel, the level of competition, plus all the injuries and short-handedness.
Not so good considering it all started 3-0

I'll take it , it was one weird trip...........

Edgy DC
May 24 2009 06:16 PM

I'd take a lesser record on the trip if it meant not missing half our lineup (more or less, depending on whether you count Brian Schneider as part of our lineup, and I do), one fifth of our rotation, our top reliever, and our utility infielder.

Willets Point
May 24 2009 06:36 PM

I'd picked the what I thought was a tad pessimistic 6-4 and up to the fifth inning today I thought we were going to get that. With all the injuries, .500 is pretty damn good imho.

But not so bad considering they limped into Boston 3-4.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

I was expecting 0-10, no jokes, and consider us very fortunate to do 5-5 specially having come into this series at 3-4

Right results, though I didn't expect them to be slapped around by the Dodgers the way they were.
