Like the look
metirish May 19 2009 06:18 PM |
Damn , that's a weak looking lineup after the four spot.
DocTee May 19 2009 06:20 PM |
So much for the speculation that Church would be nailed to the bench.
soupcan May 19 2009 06:25 PM |
That lineup's gonna score some runs tonight.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 06:27 PM |
Yeah, but Castillo is playing like he needs a day off, and Reed might have an advantage facing RHP Billingsley. I soitenly prefer Martinez as a 2B than a SS.
Fman99 May 19 2009 06:39 PM |
Funny that Church could go from being benched for the better part of two weeks to being the #5 hitter.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 07:45 PM |
So much for Omar telling me that Tatis and Murphy would be firstbasemen while Reed was an afterthought.
PiggiesTomatoes May 19 2009 07:59 PM |
Any truth to the rumor of mandatory fieldig practice earlier today????
Fman99 May 19 2009 08:03 PM |
Ron Darling rightly calling out the Mets for their god-awful extra innings play last night. Good.
Fman99 May 19 2009 08:20 PM |
Not that they listened. Murphy runs the Mets out of the inning with white-hot David Wright at the plate. D'oh.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 08:22 PM |
Lookin' hot.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 08:23 PM |
Muffy.
metirish May 19 2009 08:23 PM |
And he drops the line drive......for fucks sake
Fman99 May 19 2009 08:24 PM |
For Throneberry's sake. That is some bad defense, glove blocking his view of the ball as it comes at him.
Ashie62 May 19 2009 08:25 PM |
Enough is enough..Send him to Buffalo and teach him how to play..or move him..Its major league baseball
Ashie62 May 19 2009 08:26 PM |
That 7 game winning streak is starting to seem a long time gone
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 08:31 PM |
Maine gets out of it with one run allowed. Coulda been worse.
metirish May 19 2009 08:32 PM |
Pierre scores and the Dodgers are on the board.
Elster88 May 19 2009 08:33 PM |
This is where you need to calm down AshieLarry.
Elster88 May 19 2009 08:34 PM |
What the record for consecutive innings with a two-base error?
Ashie62 May 19 2009 08:34 PM |
It must be me. I see things like Church yesterdays and Murphy and I want to pound the wall.
Elster88 May 19 2009 08:35 PM |
Nah it's notyou. Yesterday was awful for me too...probably partly because I was up all night.
apmorris May 19 2009 08:38 PM |
Anybody want my tix for tomorrows game, I'm planning on killing myself tonite.
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 08:38 PM |
As Murph used to say, "Baseball is a game of redeeming features." Churchie, redeem your own self.
Ashie62 May 19 2009 08:39 PM |
If you should kill yourself is your location of hell accurate?
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 08:43 PM |
Jim Belushi from Animal House? Fer Chrissakes. Hey Ronnie, how many Cy Youngs did Mike Maddux win?
Edgy DC May 19 2009 08:46 PM |
Where's my props?
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 08:46 PM |
Do your peeps have them?
Edgy DC May 19 2009 08:48 PM |
How does Santos take a 3-1 pitch for a strike? The pitcher's on deck with two out.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 08:48 PM |
I'm John Fuckin' Maine, bitch.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 08:49 PM |
CRACK!
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 08:49 PM |
It was a bastard pitch. if he swings he hits it off his thumbs to the second baseman. Besides, he moved Reed into scoring position for Maine. I live to second guess. I am NEVER wrong. BWAAAHHHHAAAHHHHH
apmorris May 19 2009 08:49 PM |
Hey
metsguyinmichigan May 19 2009 08:50 PM |
Nice job, Johhnie! They probably gave Santos nothing to hit to get to Maine, and he sticks it to them!
Elster88 May 19 2009 08:50 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on May 19 2009 08:51 PM |
Reyes swinging at pitches in the dirt like it's 2005. To be fair those looked like some nasty breaking balls.
Elster88 May 19 2009 08:51 PM |
Seriously. They pitched around TWO batters. Eventually a pitcher is going to get a hit. Grab your balls and try to get the hitters out.
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 08:53 PM |
That tends to shorten your stride. You're right, though. Load 'em up, no place to put him, get over-cahnfident you can put the fastball past the pitcher, and gak.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 08:54 PM |
Nice
If I'm Razor Shines, I'm flashing the hit and run there. But Maine sure cleaned up.
mario25 May 19 2009 08:58 PM |
I think the Mets need to platoon Tatis and Murphy at 1st base and use Sheffield,Church and Pagan in the corner outfield spots. Murphy cannot play the outfield and it is embarrassing. Reed is a defensive replacement at best and how does Pagan get a night off after 4 hits last night??? Also they should think about FMart who is on a roll in Buffalo.
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 08:59 PM |
Maine is bowing his neck, whatever the fuck that means. He will remain unscored upon, or I'll have to come back and edit this post.
mario25 May 19 2009 08:59 PM |
Hopefully the Mets will prevail tonight!!!
Edgy DC May 19 2009 09:03 PM |
OK, you guys aren't going to leave me with hust mario and ashie on my bandwagon, are you?
Ashie62 May 19 2009 09:03 PM |
I'd rather put John Maine at 1B or LF than Mufffy
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 09:05 PM |
Way too few appearances to bank on so far, but for what it's worth Reed is kicking a fair amount of ass.
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 09:05 PM |
I think Ashie just sprained an ankle jumping off.
Ashie62 May 19 2009 09:05 PM |
John maine silver slugger** yippee I'm less nauseated
Edgy DC May 19 2009 09:05 PM |
That's why I'm more than a little uncomfortable with you on my bandwagon.
Ashie62 May 19 2009 09:06 PM |
Wouldn't it make some sense to pick one position for Murphy and play him there everyday for the rest of his life?
Ashie62 May 19 2009 09:07 PM |
Why you Rube, why I oughta!! Get a twinkie
mario25 May 19 2009 09:08 PM |
I guess I would say play Murphy at 1b if he stays on the roster. I just dont want to see him in the OF. I wouldnt mind him going to Buffalo.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 19 2009 09:08 PM |
Late to the game to find it at 3-1, forces of good, with another run threatening... it's like coming back from the restroom to find your food waiting, with a 3-1 lead.
Ashie62 May 19 2009 09:09 PM |
You just want him in buffalo so you can drive up 4 hours from Albany...
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 19 2009 09:10 PM |
He'd get even more instep on there from the OF, methinks. You sold me with the 4-plus-1 argument from yesterday, Edge. (Although I was half-sold already.)
Fman99 May 19 2009 09:13 PM |
Twenty unearned runs so far in 2009. Ten years ago the Mets allowed 20 unearned runs over all of their games.
metsguyinmichigan May 19 2009 09:16 PM |
What's with the walks, Maine! Don't give back those runs.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 19 2009 09:17 PM |
Ye gods, this team walks a lot of dudes who can't hit.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 09:17 PM |
Let's turn 3.

Gwreck May 19 2009 09:25 PM |
Excellent.
metirish May 19 2009 09:26 PM |
That was Big Balls John dealing right there , I can lip read and coming of the mound he was uttering...." that's the real deal right there , yes sir , I'm the real deal".....
metsguyinmichigan May 19 2009 09:26 PM |
Just your basic impersonation of a typical John Franco save.
apmorris May 19 2009 09:28 PM |
Bunt for a out, did Willie call that one in?
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 09:29 PM |

What was he saying when Murphy dropped the fly ball in the 1st?

" I'm not the boss , just say nothing John......I hope Dan doesn't want to chat now"

Wait a minute, you're kidding right?
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 19 2009 09:41 PM |
Maybe he should've walked Billingsley all along.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 09:44 PM |
I'm getting an odd sensation that Billingsley is doctoring the ball.
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 09:45 PM |

Mayonnaise.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 19 2009 09:48 PM |
Salsa? EDIT: Beaten to it. Fwoar.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 09:51 PM |
I honestly don't know where I'm coming from. There's just something odd about how he comes to his stop with the ball in his glove and the pitching arm not touching it.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 09:52 PM |
By the way, the road grays are gorgeous. Hats are wrong, but what are you gonna do?
Elster88 May 19 2009 09:54 PM |
You're gorgeous.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 09:59 PM |
Hey, whoah there, Buddy. Not in front of the kids.
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 10:02 PM |
Yeah, take that to the David Wright thread.
Elster88 May 19 2009 10:04 PM |
Not Church's fault.
Elster88 May 19 2009 10:04 PM |
Maine at 99 pitches.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 10:06 PM |
Fuck you, Casey Blake.
Elster88 May 19 2009 10:06 PM |
I can't do another 2:00 AM bedtime. Good night all.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 10:07 PM |
I think Blake doctored the ball.
Rockin' Doc May 19 2009 10:07 PM |
Damn it! For clarification sake, that wasn't Church's fault either.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 19 2009 10:12 PM Edited 7 time(s), most recently on May 19 2009 10:18 PM |
Taka is a problem solver.
Swan Swan H May 19 2009 10:13 PM |
It was not Church's fault but he must feel like Joe Btfsplk from Lil' Abner these days.
Frayed Knot May 19 2009 10:21 PM |
Might have gotten Billingsley out of there a bit earlier had they not handed him two of his first 8 outs (Murphy & Wright).
Gwreck May 19 2009 10:30 PM |
I liked Murphy against the lefty more than Sheffield against the righty.
Frayed Knot May 19 2009 10:31 PM |
PH-ing for Murphy again on account of there being a LHP on the mound.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 19 2009 10:33 PM |
Um, what?
Edgy DC May 19 2009 10:34 PM |
Bwit.
Gwreck May 19 2009 10:35 PM |
I liked it even more before Gary announces on the broadcast that Sheffield wasn't feeling well yesterday and was kept out of today's lineup for the same reason.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 19 2009 10:35 PM |
Nice to see Manuel learning his lesson with the overmanaging.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 10:44 PM |
I don't mind that move so much.
Gwreck May 19 2009 10:51 PM |
I don't out-and-out root for home runs too much (not that I hate seeing them), but damn, we could *really* use one from Church right now.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 10:51 PM |
Church must seek forgiveness.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 10:52 PM |
Wright as tying run with no out, I'll take any positive from Church I can get.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 10:53 PM |
Fart, now the whole game comes down to this fish batting 6th for the 4th time tonite.
Gwreck May 19 2009 10:54 PM |
How about a pinch hitter NOW, Jerry? Tatis could play second.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 10:54 PM |
Holy shit I just noticed he changed numbers.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 10:54 PM |
Now, I'd have no probelm looking to Tatis here.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 10:56 PM |
Jesus Christ, Jerry. Messes with everything, but lets this situation happen.
Gwreck May 19 2009 10:56 PM |
Yeah, that was particularly brutal.
metsguyinmichigan May 19 2009 10:57 PM |
Why is Ramon Martinez in there instead of Castillo?
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 19 2009 10:58 PM |
well i'm out. booooooooo jerry
Gwreck May 19 2009 10:58 PM |
Yeah. I'm still with Tug but it should be pretty clear that the chance to win just left the building.
Gwreck May 19 2009 10:59 PM |
I guess because for every "Angel Pagan bats leadoff and gets 4 hits" there's a "Ramon Martinez bats 6th (!!), strikes out three times and hits a inning-crushing GIDP."
Edgy DC May 19 2009 11:01 PM |
I don't know that Ramon love is his problem, but he should have pinch hit there. I tried to mention this, but Ramon (1) had gotten into only 9 games in Buffalo, and (2) was the only viable callup. I'd have no problem with a Castillo pinch-hitting appearance there either.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 11:02 PM |
Great play by Wright anytush.
Edgy DC May 19 2009 11:04 PM |

Fman99 May 20 2009 06:12 AM |
Only went four innings last night. No drinking = no late night wit and wisdom from me. But jeez, we don't get a getaway matinee today? I was hoping for a 4 PM start or something I could watch/listen to in its entirety. Fuck.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 20 2009 07:31 AM |
Offday tomorrow precludes need for said matinee. Plus, are you kidding me? Dodger fans arrive in the third inning for evening games... the daytime crowd would be comparable to that of a middle-school soccer game, with marginally more stabbing.

Swan Swan H May 20 2009 07:36 AM |
