Well, that's a different look at the top. Considering that Murphy and Church are the two of the players most often said to be in Jerry's doghouse, I guess this is the 'Who Let the Dogs Out' lineup.
Ashie62 May 22 2009 03:31 PM |
Nothing in the lineup below Wright who is proteced by Reed. yeeshh..
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 22 2009 03:40 PM |
Reed still batting 333 brutha.

Mets in the classikc grays, Sawx in hideous red jerseys that my old softball team would have been embarrassed to wear. And we wore orange for three years.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 05:26 PM |
What a way to start the first - Ellsbury reaches on a chopper and Wright boots a DP ball.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 05:28 PM |
Youkilis also waves feebly at strike 3, and Santana glances in at Bay with disdain.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 05:32 PM |
Sheffield Kabooms, and it's 1-0 Mets.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 05:38 PM |
Who else knows how Santana feels? This guy.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 05:49 PM |
Varitek hits a high change over that large green wall in left field, and it's tied at 1.
metirish May 22 2009 05:54 PM |
Lots of Mets fans there , nice to see that.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 05:55 PM |
Irish, good to see you. I was starting to feel like Earl Holliman in the Twilight Zone pilot.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 06:00 PM |
Santana gets Ortiz on a pitch that Ted Fucking Williams himself couldn't have hit. Pedrioa on second with a 310.25' double that hit nine feet up on the wall, but Youkilis will prove no match for Santana.

Good to see you too Swanie , don't know why but I really don't like Youkilis at all , he looks like a prick maybe that's it.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 06:04 PM |
Youkilis swings at a pitch that he couldn't have hit with a cricket bat, and leaves Pedroia out at second base pondering his curiously receding hairline. Still 1-1.

2-1 courtesy of mr. Wright
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 06:11 PM |
Beltran stays hot, Sheff gets on base AGAIN, and Wright stays even hotter. Mets up 2-1 for Reed, hitting sixth by default.
Ashie62 May 22 2009 06:14 PM |
Omir..oh my Omir!!!

Reed's hustle gives Santos a chance to drive in a run, and that he does.

Sox announcers also blow. Among other annoyances, they keep referring to Omir as Omar.
Frayed Knot May 22 2009 06:24 PM |
The Mets fans wish to acknowledge the efforts (or lack thereof) of Julio Lugo because without him, and his wimpy throw to 1st, this multi-run inning would not have been possible.

We gotta find out what it is about Johan's starts that seemingly puts the 'Let's Play Like Shit!' sign up in the dugout.

They can't resist calling up Fartinez any longer! The funny remark in the booth I heard was Keith's after Gary said they'd try and ascertain what happened. "Good luck!"

PiggiesTomatoes May 22 2009 07:15 PM |
No bat, no glove. Well, the glove was okay. It was the arm that was balky.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 22 2009 07:15 PM |
Martinez is just not up the job of playing MLB SS.
Gwreck May 22 2009 07:15 PM |
What about Argenis Reyes? He can't hit either, but he CAN play defense.
Kong76 May 22 2009 07:16 PM |
This has to be his swan song at ss.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 22 2009 07:18 PM |
Argenis Reyes barely played ss in his career.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 07:18 PM |
Call me what you will, I am so hot for Santana right now.
Gwreck May 22 2009 07:19 PM |

True or false?: he'd be a better defensive option
Nymr83 May 22 2009 07:19 PM |
martinez sucks but santana gets out of it.
Edgy DC May 22 2009 07:20 PM |
Coronado is the better defensive option than either.

That's some small-ball right there, but any run is welcome.

Gwreck May 22 2009 07:26 PM |
Johan at 101 pitches but I think he's going back out.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 07:28 PM |
The 10th Armored Division couldn't keep him in the dugout.
metsguyinmichigan May 22 2009 07:28 PM |

Heck yeah! Hopefully we can get at least one more out of him!

Sam Elliot on the left , guy used to be everywhere at one point
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 22 2009 07:33 PM |

I don't think he'd be the best we could do. And he's every bit as stinky as Ramon with the stick. Ruben Tejada at Bingo, I believe, is pretty well thought of defensively and plays SS everyday.
Edgy DC May 22 2009 07:33 PM |
Putz is still in LA, right?
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 07:34 PM |
Every fantasy Irish has had for David Wright goes double for me and Johan. Over 100 pitches going in, and he buzzes through Pedroia, Papi and Youkilis with the greatest of ease.
Kong76 May 22 2009 07:34 PM |
metirish May 22 2009 07:35 PM |
Parnell up and not Putz
Edgy DC May 22 2009 07:35 PM |
Seriously, plenty of time after the game to talk shortstop alternatives. Right now I'm behind Ramon Thumbsies 100%.

PiggiesTomatoes May 22 2009 07:45 PM |
Young Bobby hits the century mark on the gun! Damn.

Parnell with some sick shit to run the table in the eighth.

Edgy DC May 22 2009 07:46 PM |

Swan Swan H May 22 2009 07:46 PM |
Parnell gasses Junior Dickhead Drew amidst a 1-2-3 inning, unwilling to face the wrath of Johan should he fail. Four or five runs would be lovely here.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 22 2009 07:47 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on May 22 2009 07:48 PM |
Bobby should pitch the 9th too.
Gwreck May 22 2009 07:47 PM |
SNY gun had Parnell no faster than 97, for what it's worth.
seawolf17 May 22 2009 07:48 PM |
Parnell was just blowing them away there. Nice.
Fman99 May 22 2009 07:48 PM |

Kinda brings to mind the final days of Melvin Mora. Just as now, we had lost the starting SS (Ordonez) and the backup (Abbott) to injuries and had a lack of ready alternatives forcing an unfamiliar guy to start. And just like now its being exposed in an interleague series at Boston.
Kong76 May 22 2009 07:59 PM |
REED

Edgy DC May 22 2009 07:59 PM |
Guys in the booth having a laugh at Fran Healy's expense.
Swan Swan H May 22 2009 07:59 PM |
Nice effort from Reed - he had it all the way and made sure he did.
PiggiesTomatoes May 22 2009 07:59 PM |
Reed's a much better CF'er than first baseman. Though he didn't have to make a throw on that play.
Edgy DC May 22 2009 08:01 PM |
That, like this, was also a pennant year. The difference is that Mora was a prospect, this guy is a fill-in, and we can be even more certain that what we see is pretty close to what he is.
Zvon May 22 2009 08:02 PM |
WOOT!
metirish May 22 2009 08:02 PM |

Yeah , nice play by him , great sound of the wall too.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 22 2009 08:03 PM |
I think Mora rookie-ness worked against him there. His teammates completely lost CAHNfidence in him and he suddenly became worthless.

AWESOME! We needed that.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 22 2009 08:05 PM |
I'm glad we survived that one because we made way too many mistakes to beat the Red Sox most nights. It was only the planetary testicularity of Santana that made the difference.
