MFYs vs. MFPs (OMG)

Some despicable team will lose this weekend. Sadly, some despicable team will win as well.

Indeed. More of this, please.
]Sore Damon held out of Yankees lineup NEW YORK (AP) — Johnny Damon has been held out of the New York Yankees' starting lineup a day after he crashed into the left-field wall. Manager Joe Girardi says Damon is a little sore and isn't sure if the outfielder will be available for Thursday night's game against Baltimore. Damon collided with the wall trying to make a play on Adam Jones' homer in the fifth inning of New York's 11-4 victory over Baltimore on Wednesday night. Damon is batting .318 with 10 homers and 28 RBIs this season. Melky Cabrera got the start in left and second baseman Robinson Cano moved up to second in the order Thursday night.

I concur with CF. The MFP's should feel right at home in this home run hitting haven.

As I always do in these situations, I am rooting for a fucking comet to hit the stadium once it is filled with MFY and MFP fans.

I think we got enough to drag down the Phillies on our own when the time comes so I hope they murder the MFYs and that Howard and Utley hit 5 HRs each into that joke RF.

G-Fafif
May 22 2009 02:11 PM

I don't think I've ever rooted for the N.L. rival we needed to lose in Interleague to actually lose to the MFYs, not even the Braves circa '99-'00. I can enjoy the part of the outcome that a loss by the likes of the MFPs brings, but it's impossible for me to actively say "go MFYs," except straight to Hades.

Hades, I tell you!

Thing is if a comet did hit MFYS III, it would be framed as a tragedy and we'd be the ones who were supposed to feel bad we were wishing for it.

Life can be so unfair.

I can't actually root _for_ the Phillies, but I think them winning is the best way to achieve the desired result of neither of those two teams in the playoffs. If the Yankees were still around .500, it'd be easier to root for them in this series, but they're hot, and them winning 12 or even 11/12 just rubs me the wrong way.

I hope Howard and Utley (And A-Rod and Swisher etc) get tired arms hitting 45+ home runs this weekend. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone break the 5 HR/game record at that place with that pitching.

I'd like the Mets to sweep and the Phillies to sweep ... won't hurt us in the

Lot to ask, but what the hay.

Rollins hits a routine fly to right on Burnett's first pitch, but at the Big Post Office in the Bronx it's a home run. He then hits Utley on the first pitch to him. There may be 50 runs scored in this series.

Swan Swan H
May 22 2009 05:45 PM

Ruiz leaves the BPOitB, and it-s 3-0 Phillies. Myers just threw some sort of slop to Swisher, who hacked at it like a guy trying to snake an overflowing toilet.

How could you not be rooting for the Skanks to trample the Phils here?
I don't understand this.

The Met's need to hang close and they are hurtin.
I don't give a rats ass what the Skankees (or any A.L. team) do
generally but in this series I want them to pwn Philly.
Especially since we are playin Boston, a very good team.

I have the Phils game on here.
Brett Myers is throwing well through four. Has good stuff.

If the Mets can't win it on their own they don't deserve it. I want the Yankees to lose in a humiliating fashion 162 times a year, whether they are playing the Phillies, the Braves or The Manson Family All-Stars.

That's the spirit. Putting your country ahead of your party.

What helps the Mets is a provincial concern.

What helps the commonweal is a universal concern.

What helps the commonweal is the Yanks losing. Often. Badly. At great expense.

I guess I want the Yankees to win, but only in in games where the Phillies batters rough up their staff the point that they are demoralized and the Phillies are worn out from scoring so much, only to lose in the end, sending them into a spiral of depression.

And if the Phillies wanted to send a statement by sending Jeter on his butt with each and every pitch, I'm OK with that.

I'd like the Yanks and Phils to split the next two games. I hope each game goes at least 15 innings so that each team completely decimates their bullpens before the weekend concludes. I further hope that during the two extra inning affairs there are so many home runs hit that MLB is concerned that they will run out of baseballs.

If the season ended yesterday, the Mets would be on the outside looking in, playoff-wise, by one half game --- an outcome that could have been altered to the Mets benefit had the Yankees beaten the Phillies on Friday. Would an extra Yankees loss be much consolation?

And we do lose ground even though we match the Phillies, whether by winning or losing; the season is one day closer to the end and the Phillies magic number goes down by one even if they don't increase their games ahead lead over the Mets. They're running out the clock. Does anyone here think that Jerry Manuel is rooting for the Phillies this weekend? I don't. Jeez, maybe we should also be rooting for the Bosox this weekend --- them being the Yankees archrivals!

I was in a bar/restaurant as the MFY game wound down yesterday. Several TVs had it on, several didn't. It didn't seem to be obsessing the room. I wasn't watching it with intense interest either, just keeping an eye on it as the missus and I were capping off a moderate to grand day out, reflexively rooting against the home team, sorry the visitors were losing even as we normally despised the visitors.

The ninth inning happens and there's much applause and hooting and "YAY YANKEES!" and the fact that the Mets had picked up an entire half-game on the Phillies -- in May, even if they all count equally -- was of zero consolation to me. These MFYLDB were full of themselves and it was disgusting. I booed, though not loudly enough to draw attention to myself.

Many hours later, it wasn't so bad that events had conspired to allow us to pick up a game on the Phils in the course of Saturday. But to live the first half of it among those with their own agenda...yeech.
