Rot -- I can't send a PT, but this isn't especially private. Was in response to your note about The Kid from Tompinsville.

The Tunis novels just keep getting better. I learned about social conscience from Tunis, even before I knew what it was or that that was what I was learning. There's a great bit in one of the novels where Spike Russell is named player-manager of the team, and he's still just a kid himself, with a lot to learn. The Dodgers' catcher goes down in the middle of the pennant race, and they bring up a young guy from Triple A, who's talented...and Jewish. Spike has to learn how to confront prejudice, including his own.
