Pagan CF

OlerudOwned May 26 2009 03:11 PM |
Yeesh. No Beltran, Delgado, Reyes, or Church. Playing two secondbasemen and no shortstop. Going to be a rough night.
Gwreck May 26 2009 03:12 PM |
Yeah, listing R. Martinez at second was a freudian slip but your comment stands.
Ceetar May 26 2009 03:32 PM |
And no Murphy _again_
Gwreck May 26 2009 03:36 PM |
This is Tatis' second start in the last week.
Ceetar May 26 2009 03:40 PM |
Well what do you know. He started yesterday. and he's starting again today. again. fact. Is Murphy an everyday player or not? He's not hitting worse than Tatis. He's _definitely_ not fielding worse than Tatis. He has more potential than Tatis. If he's going to be our 1B, he should probably play it as much as possible.
TransMonk May 26 2009 03:42 PM |
These lineups are weak. 2004 weak.
Gwreck May 26 2009 03:43 PM |
Tatis is a better defender and has been hitting better. Fact.
attgig May 26 2009 03:59 PM |
with the rest of the lineup as unstable as it is, seems like playing tatis is a bit safer right now.
Frayed Knot May 26 2009 04:44 PM |
Even with Reyes out Castillo can't find his way into the leadoff position.
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 04:57 PM |
Gee whiz, no more complaining about Sheffield?
metirish May 26 2009 05:06 PM |
Did I miss something with Murphy? , young Martinez looks the part for sure.
Edgy DC May 26 2009 05:08 PM |
Nobody's argued for Murphy at first more than I have, but come on.
metsguyinmichigan May 26 2009 05:09 PM |
It's a weak lineup -- but we're playing the Nationals!!! Yes!!!
OlerudOwned May 26 2009 05:23 PM |
Josh Willingham and Adam Dunn are manning the corners in the vast CitiOutfield. Find the gaps, boys.
Ashie62 May 26 2009 05:23 PM |
Craig Stammen hurling
Ashie62 May 26 2009 05:24 PM |
oops..he is on DL
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 05:26 PM |
And in stories not related to Ceetar's crush on young Daniel Murphy:
Ashie62 May 26 2009 05:29 PM |
I believe the only ML player in history to have 100 RBI and 10 or less HR in a single season is Tommy Herr as a cardinal

Take your mum to Paris

Daniel Murphy is a handsome man...quite like George Will
Ashie62 May 26 2009 05:44 PM |
Thats shaking it off
Ashie62 May 26 2009 05:46 PM |
Score one for the replacement Mets
Edgy DC May 26 2009 05:47 PM |
Who is David Murphy?

Outfielder for the Rangers, acquired from Boston in the Gagne trade. But that's not important right now.
Ashie62 May 26 2009 05:51 PM |
Sorry lotta Murphs in MLB..I'm old and confused..edited for the handsome Daniel Murphy Anybody for a Peavy accepted trade for Reyes?
OlerudOwned May 26 2009 05:52 PM |
Are you out of y... Erm. No, no thank you. Not unless it's Argenis.
Ashie62 May 26 2009 05:57 PM |
J. Reyes as opposed to Anus Reyes may not have as much value as you may think..Stephen Strasburg when he becomes a Nat..
OlerudOwned May 26 2009 05:59 PM |
Then I'll welcome him twice as hard to cover for you.
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 05:59 PM |
Leave us hope that Omar's opinion differs greatly from Ashie's.
Ashie62 May 26 2009 06:28 PM |
fair enough all...wonder how JCL feels about it..
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 26 2009 06:31 PM |

Ashie62 May 26 2009 06:31 PM |
thats my Omir
Edgy DC May 26 2009 06:36 PM |
Let's work on the game instead of wild-assed trade proposals.
bmfc1 May 26 2009 06:37 PM |
Perez only lasted 4 1/3 for Buffalo. 5 Walks:

Ramon Martinez with a luvly pick on a tricky hop to turn two on Nick Johnson.
Frayed Knot May 26 2009 06:47 PM |
Ramon picking 'em and Livan's dealin'
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 06:57 PM |
This Dunn guy can hit a little.
Edgy DC May 26 2009 06:57 PM |
Hey, Howie, don't announce that Livan's going into the seventh like it's such a crazy thought. He's had only 71 pitches.
Valadius May 26 2009 06:59 PM |
Okay, I HAD to drop by when I saw that Fernando Martinez is in the lineup. Been way too busy focusing on college stuff the last few months.
PiggiesTomatoes May 26 2009 07:01 PM |
Listening to Omar with Gary and Ron earlier I was wondering if he was a used car salesman before manning the good ship Wilpon. Just sounds like he can't/shouldn't be trusted.
TheOldMole May 26 2009 07:06 PM |
Is "in Citifield history" really a phrase that should be used just yet?
TheOldMole May 26 2009 07:07 PM |
Vlad -- isn't your semester over?
Edgy DC May 26 2009 07:12 PM |
Tight zone tonight
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 07:12 PM |
Kaboom me, Sheff, you professional hitter you.
PiggiesTomatoes May 26 2009 07:12 PM |
Sheff! No replay tonight!
OlerudOwned May 26 2009 07:12 PM |
Golf clubbed out by Sheffield. Holy crap.
Edgy DC May 26 2009 07:12 PM |
And Kaboomskavitz while my radio connection fails.
Nymr83 May 26 2009 07:14 PM |
maybe the Mets knew what they were doing when they signed Sheff.
OlerudOwned May 26 2009 07:14 PM |
Hahaha, and now Tatis gets hit with a fastball but Bergman gets to stay in the game. But he's on double-secret probation, trust me.
Fman99 May 26 2009 07:14 PM |
Umpires are morons.
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 07:15 PM |
Dan Iassogna looks like the guy who mows his lawn at 7 AM on a Sunday.
PiggiesTomatoes May 26 2009 07:16 PM |
No common sense at all. 76 MPH curve slips out of his hand, flys over Tatis's head and everyone gets warned. Dopey.
metirish May 26 2009 07:20 PM |
I got a laugh out of Gary saying that.....
Nymr83 May 26 2009 07:20 PM |
no way was the second baseman still on the bag when he caught the throw from 3B. They built $50,000 questec machines to tighten the strike zone and screw the pitchers, couldn't they have accomplished the same for free by not calling the "area out"?
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 07:21 PM |
I just freeze-framed it to be sure, but Andy Handy was standing flat-footed a good foot from the base when he caught Zimmerman's throw. Awfully big neighborhood.
PiggiesTomatoes May 26 2009 07:23 PM |
Forget not being in the neighborhood, Ron said he wasn't even in Flushing, he was in Astoria.
Nymr83 May 26 2009 07:27 PM |
Jerry even went out to argue between innings, not something you usually see on area-out calls.
Edgy DC May 26 2009 07:33 PM |
Fuck trouble. Livan is gonna bat!
Fman99 May 26 2009 07:35 PM |
Are starters even allowed to pitch in the 9th inning?
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 07:37 PM |
They should have a little name for it when a pitcher pitches all nine innings. Maybe a Whole Game, or an Entire Game. A Total Game? Nah.
Edgy DC May 26 2009 07:38 PM |
I think it's a Cuban thing.
Triple Dee May 26 2009 07:44 PM |
Hey can somebody clue me in as to what number Fartinez is wearing?
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 07:45 PM |
He's in 26, and Wilson Valdez is in 4.
Triple Dee May 26 2009 07:50 PM |
Great thanks, now if only I could remember what number I entered in the MBTN competition......or even what 1st prize was.
metsguyinmichigan May 26 2009 07:50 PM |
Just getting here! Go Livan!
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 07:52 PM |

A Cadillac Eldorado. Second prize - a set of steak knives.
metsguyinmichigan May 26 2009 07:52 PM |

Nice reference... Great line. Great movie. Nice job, Livan.
Fman99 May 26 2009 07:54 PM |
That's what he said.
Fman99 May 26 2009 07:55 PM |
Creepy awesome sun baby loves the Quad-A Mets and the Washington Doormats, er, Nationals.
Rockin' Doc May 26 2009 07:57 PM |
I didn't know Manuel had it in him to let a pitcher pitch past the 7th inning. I thought there was a rule or something. Nice of Livan to give the pen a break.
Frayed Knot May 26 2009 07:58 PM |
Phillies leading 5-0 into the 9th ... but now it's 5-2, and it's gotten so bad that they're even going to bring Lidge into the game!!!!!
Frayed Knot May 26 2009 08:01 PM |
Lidge gets Hermida on a groundout but a run scores.
Frayed Knot May 26 2009 08:04 PM |
And Helms strikes out so the Phils hang on, both to the game and to their 1/2 game lead in the east.
Swan Swan H May 26 2009 08:07 PM |
I think we should celebrate with a slice of Cake.

A "Major Award" Somebody informed me the voting part of it doesn;t work anyhow. Nobody had the right answer! However, I'm not sure it'll be 26 to stay.
Edgy DC May 26 2009 08:46 PM |
Next person to post that baby gets such a pinch.

Not a lie , for years that song would pop into my head and I could never think who's song it was. About five years ago a guy in a record store was trying to ask me about this song...he was humming it to me....I told him it was Ministry ..... Swanie rocks

I would have settled for "An Evening with John Cougar Lunchbucket".
themetfairy May 27 2009 05:55 AM |
It was a great game to attend. It made me stop resenting the Tuesday is Sunday at Citi Field aspect of things (i.e., the game was part of my Sunday plan).

Also, a caffeinated Dan Iassogna-- when not issuing pointless, ineffectual bench warnings for offspeed brushback pitches-- punched the air on called strikes like an anime character in pads. So, you know, trivial fun to be had there. (BTW: Sorry I missed you, TMF. Was delayed getting in-- long story.)
