Pelf cruises through the first on a popup, a grounder and a whiff of Uggla.
Edgy DC May 29 2009 05:47 PM |
A little trouble here in the second though.
Edgy DC May 29 2009 05:48 PM |
And Beltran bails him out!
Swan Swan H May 29 2009 05:49 PM |
I think the ump bails Beltran out. The ball appears to have hit the ground.
PiggiesTomatoes May 29 2009 05:54 PM |
Looked like a trap. Too bad his good fortune didn't carry over to the AB.

Omir Kaboom Santos. Where did this guy get that power from, holy crap!

Who is watching on SNY? Gary Apple is hyping a potential Met trade if we stay tuned for Sportsnite? Anbody know what he's referring to?

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/05/mets-shopping-ramon-castro.html No real details, just hot air. Speaking of SNY spots and hot air, anyone catch Beningo and his ridiculous facestain talking about how the Mets are better off without Delgado. Blech.
Ashie62 May 29 2009 06:24 PM |
Somebody is going. Hope it is Schneider. Jerry was speaking about how Castro might be able to play some 1B
bmfc1 May 29 2009 06:25 PM |
The Mariners just lost Kenji Johjima. Maybe they'll give up Felix Hernandez for Ramon. I found this in the Staten Island Advance: Seattle newspaper reports indicate that the Mariners are looking to deal, and players like shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt and first baseman/DH Russel Branyan are on the market along with veteran starters Erik Bedard and Jarrod Washburn. But it would likely take more than Castro to land any of those players, particularly Bedard, who the Mariners acquired from Baltimore for Adam Jones (.357 average, 11 homers, 36 RBI) and pitcher Chris Tillman, who is currently 5-0 in Triple-A with a 2.13 ERA and 44 strikeouts and ranked as the No. 16 prospect in baseball.

Beautiful play by Castillo. I can't believe it's the 7th inning already.

Castillo looks like the guy who played for the World Champs in 2003.
seawolf17 May 29 2009 06:46 PM |
By the way, you'll note that this Adam West character who's pitching for the Marlins falls nicely in line with the whole Curse of Jason Jennings that has haunted the Mets in recent years.
Edgy DC May 29 2009 06:50 PM |
If you thought Omir Santos would be tied with David Wright in clouts at the end of May, raise your right hand.
metsguyinmichigan May 29 2009 06:56 PM |
Omir certainly is making a case to stick around.
Edgy DC May 29 2009 06:59 PM |
Good job, Big Pelf. Good job by Jerry sticking with him. Good time to pull him.
Swan Swan H May 29 2009 06:59 PM |
Ooh, I don't like this move. Pelf had Uggla looking bad his first two times up, and he hits the fastball. I hope I'm wrong, but this matchup scares me.
Edgy DC May 29 2009 07:00 PM |
Yabbbut Pelf brought this on hisself.

Love that Parnell.
Swan Swan H May 29 2009 07:03 PM |
I'm wrong, and I'm spectacular. Nice job by Parnell and Santos, that 2-1 slider had Uggla clueless on the 3-2 pitch.

Parnell is awesome!

shitfuck
metirish May 29 2009 07:21 PM |
Anyone else think that Sheff got the ole unintentional intensional walk , looked to me like he wanted no part of him and was wanting Wright instead.
Ashie62 May 29 2009 07:23 PM |
Yes
Edgy DC May 29 2009 07:24 PM |
I don't go for Cohen's reasoning on why to use Murphy. You want the best matchup to win there. You're not trying to get the lefty out of the game.
Kong76 May 29 2009 07:28 PM |
I hate using the closer here after leaving the bases loaded.
Edgy DC May 29 2009 07:28 PM |
Rodriguez ooks good, but why is in the game with Parnell only having thrown six pitches and pitcher due up next inning?

The fear of being second-guessed for losing a game without using your closer. No logical strategic reason.
Swan Swan H May 29 2009 07:34 PM |
Yup. Martinez did a nice job taking the throw and getting the tag down, but Welke wouldn't buy it.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 29 2009 07:35 PM |
He was out-- it's just that nobody knew it. (Sorta like the old "tree falls in the woods" bit, except if you had 7 cameras recording the unheard tree.)
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 29 2009 07:36 PM |
FWIW: Philly just blew their own bases-loaded, one-out situation in the 7th. (Two big differences: they're still up on Washington, 5-4, and they didn't bunt to get the one out.)
Kong76 May 29 2009 07:37 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on May 29 2009 07:38 PM |

Time for the Sheff's special!
seawolf17 May 29 2009 08:18 PM |

Yeah, but they have Sean Green, who hasn't given up a run since batting practice, and Ken Takahashi to pitch to an empty stadium after Green gives up the winning runs.
Fman99 May 29 2009 08:21 PM |
Sheff with the leadoff single. Time for young Mr. Wright to redeem himself.

PiggiesTomatoes May 29 2009 08:27 PM |
I think that was intentional to set up the DP.
seawolf17 May 29 2009 08:27 PM |
Eh, I guess not. This team needs a good bench-clearer. Maybe the bottom of the 11th inning is a bad time, though.

Podsednik has nothing left. At this point the Mets will trade Castro and eat a fat piece of that 2.5 mil they owe him in exchange for another live bullpen arm, or 5th starter candidate, methinks. Redding's recent suck-a-torium has got to factor into their thoughts.
Fman99 May 29 2009 09:11 PM |
Oh I nailed it. Castro swapped for bullpen help.
seawolf17 May 29 2009 09:13 PM |

Angel Hernandez? No shit! How'd I miss that? And I'm giving Mets management a standing ovation in my head for the song choice. How'd the crowd react?

I swear Angel started it. Beltran questioned the swinging strike during the AB, but didn't look like he actually said anything after the AB and Angel just went up to him and got in his face.
Not to be too creepy, but when they started playing Meet the Mets, I thought of you. Glad I was there tonight, great seats right behind homeplate (8th row) too.

Even when we have short games we don't have short games
Yup!
Strike 2 was a joke, I think that was the one he was pissed at. Or maybe he was just jawing at Angel Hernandez on general principles. It would be understandable.
I thought about that too (catcher was set up waaaaay inside) but that's a real risky move with a runner on 3rd.
Up against the wall muthafuckas!
