No D-Wright, no Sheffield, no Castillo--Tatis clean-up and look at that DP combo. Plus, Josh Johnson pitching for Florida.

Manuel's telling you he's mailing this one in.

is it just me, or does the Tatis 'magic' from last year, look exposed when he's playing as frequently as he has?

John Cougar Lunchbucket
May 30 2009 08:49 AM

NFN, but Wright certainly looked last night like he could use a rest.

Didn't he have a 'rest' on Thursday?

Did Castillo look like he needed a rest?

Cohen reported last night that Manuel said he was committed to giving Wright a day off in Pittsburgh , not bothered that he's given him this day as he looked like rubbish last night.

You complain when Sheffield is in the lineup, now you complain when he's rested.

BTW, even with all of his 'exposure' Tatis OPS is within .005 of yer boy Murphy.

The DP combination actually looks good. Might not get a lotta hits out of them.

Marlins didn't look too good at the plate either last night.

Mets defense doesn't look half-bad. Redding pitches decent today he could get hisself a 'w'.

Benjamin Grimm
May 30 2009 10:25 AM

This does look like it will be a tough game to win. (And that's okay; every once in a while you need to sit guys and let other guys play.) If the Mets manage to win this one, it will be extra sweet.

Empire's on. Maybe I'll just watch that instead. Han's tauntaun just collapsed.

They strike back. Don't mean to ruin it for you.

Anybody bookmark the illegal WFAN feed from the cement mixing company or whatever? I'm getting FOX'ed today on the baseball package.

May 30 2009 11:21 AM

Redding in a bit of a jam that would have been worse if not for a nice pick by Murph on a bad pickoff throw. He gets Ramirez, but a Tatis boot keeps things messy. 1-0 Marlins.

Swan Swan H
May 30 2009 11:25 AM

2-0 on a Hermida single, but that's all. The Tatis error cost one run, but Redding kept it from getting out of hand.

Swan Swan H
May 30 2009 11:34 AM

Pagan walks, advances on two grounders and scores on a Tatis RBI single. 2-1 Fish.

Thank you. Bookmarking it now.

I mean NOW!!!!

Two well-hit doubles surround a bloop single, and a sac fly by Uggla make it 4-1.

If Fartinez intends to play a lot of right field at Citi he'd better either learn the walls or wear a football helmet out there.

Trivia: F'tinez's first ML hit was 5/30/09 off Josh Johnson.

Did Schneid get booed?

OE: Hey, Martinez is in the hit club!

Not much of a reaction, at least nothing audible on the TV broadcast.

May 30 2009 12:29 PM

Hermida's third hit is a three-run homer sending Redding to the showers, and from there who knows where.

A call for Broadway.

We're rallying here. You just can't see it.

Edgy DC
May 30 2009 12:51 PM

Ahem. Tol' ya.

Swan Swan H
May 30 2009 12:55 PM

If they could just do that every inning for the rest of the game... well, they'd lose 7-6, but I might not doze off.

MFS62
May 30 2009 12:58 PM

A ribbie double for F(ranchise) Martinez.*
Later

* = don't blame me for that one. He was called that by the Buffalo radio guys earlier this year.

Get me Ollie.

Swan Swan H
May 30 2009 01:11 PM

They just reported that Ollie has been semi-shut down due to continuing problems with his knee.

Figgy, perhaps?

Kong76
May 30 2009 01:12 PM

Ollie's a gimp.

Edgy DC
May 30 2009 01:23 PM

Middle of the seventh.

This is where the wheels come off for the Nats.

Kong76
May 30 2009 01:23 PM

I left out that I think he's on his way to Port St. Lucie on rehab assignment.

The Fish.

I don't think this our afternoon but ...

LET'S

Swan Swan H
May 30 2009 01:27 PM

Ya gotta be in it to win it.

GO

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr
May 30 2009 01:28 PM

FISHING?

Swan Swan H
May 30 2009 01:29 PM

That'll play.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr
May 30 2009 01:31 PM

Works either way, I figure: stick around and come back, or take off for the Jersey shore to meet Stokes for some angling-- this is one of those weeks were he's down the shore, right?

CitiDouble for pinch-hitter Brett Carroll; at least the Fish are playing fair and taking Johnson out against our Bison.

Edgy DC
May 30 2009 01:33 PM

I was thinking Fish and my hands typed Nats.

Funny how Tak gets the extra innings of relief that Jerry won't give to anybody else.

Sean Green's one inning pulled his ERA under 7.00.

Kong76
May 30 2009 01:40 PM

Team's falling apart, Beltran leaves with stomach virus according to booth.

Edgy DC

Upset stomaches don't last.

Neither will Santos' luck, but there he is on second.

Unless it's dysentery. With our luck, Casa de 'Los has septic leakage problems.

Is anyone else feeling a little less sanguine about the Castro move this afternoon?

Kong76
May 30 2009 01:48 PM

I hope headaches don't either, because this game is giving me one.
At least we don't get force-fed the Yanks at four and get to watch one
from Wrigley!

Another Efficient InningTM by Stokes, who's spending this week with the team, after all.

Hunting was the tits.

Edgy DC
May 30 2009 02:00 PM

Schneider walks. Fartinez is the tying run.

Edgy DC
May 30 2009 02:04 PM

And Valedz fouls off three before getting his first Metly hit.

Bingo. The table is being set for Fernando.

Lindstrom's on 22 pitches and only has one out.

Edgy DC
May 30 2009 02:08 PM

And Reed is called out on a curve that's four inches outside.

Kong76
May 30 2009 02:08 PM

That outside slider to Reed was a ball.
Still ya can't go down looking there.

Edgy DC
May 30 2009 02:11 PM

Pagan doubles. Tying run on deck. Lindstrom being pulled. Wright in the on-deck circle.

Bill Welke's blown call is huge.

Kong76
May 30 2009 02:13 PM

What the?

Edgy DC
May 30 2009 02:15 PM

Cruel ninth by Blue.

MFS62
May 30 2009 02:20 PM

The fact that this lineup scored three runs was a miracle unto itself.
Ugh!
