Beltran's tummy still hurts.

Zvon
May 31 2009 11:34 AM

I hate the super high outfield walls but that time I'm glad they were that high.

Uggla almost hits one out, gets a lead off double.
Woot!
Maine gets out of it.

0-0 after 1 and a half.

2-out Pagan fury!

1-0 after 3.

Zvon
May 31 2009 11:51 AM

Pagan doubles in Valdez.

1-0 Mets after 3.

Zvon

1-0 after 3.

oooooo, boobage

Zvon
May 31 2009 11:54 AM

ugh..

hopefully that was just a cramp.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr
May 31 2009 11:55 AM

Now Pagan with the groin?

Zvon
May 31 2009 11:55 AM

aaaaaaaashit.

Pagan comes up lame chasing a fly ball.

Reed takes over in center.

Do you remember when a guy would get hurt on the field and people would clap for him when they knew he was OK, instead of groaning and shit like that? Me neither.

Poor Angel and his bad legs or groin or whatever. Get well soon.

The Mets are dropping like flies this season. The Mets have a more potent line up on the DL (or otherwise unavailable) than they do on the field.

Four innings already?
Under an hour.

Glad Maine's pitching so fine.
Maybe one run will be enough.....

Black hats with pinstripes? Yuck.

When he's throwing the off-speed stuff for strikes-- I've counted three first-pitch sliders already in two innings of viewing-- he's frighteningly good.

He is.
And he's finishing em off well too.
Has he gone to 3 balls on anyone?

J. Moyer going for that elusive career win #250 for the Phils.
Phils up on the Nats, 2-0 after 3.

If Jamie can't get 250 facing the Nats I don't think he'll ever get it.

May 31 2009 12:29 PM

Phenomenal play by Wright. That could be a gamesaver.

A Boy Named Seo
May 31 2009 12:30 PM

That wasn't a trap.

Zvon
May 31 2009 12:30 PM

Wright robs em!

Man, that was a big play.

yes sir. Nice play!

May 31 2009 12:31 PM

Wait a minute ... we just got the benefit of the doubt on an Angel Hernandez call?!?!
Whoda thunk it?

Frayed Knot
May 31 2009 12:39 PM

And how many times do you see it; the guy who makes the great play to end the inning bats 4th in the next half?

A Boy Named Seo
May 31 2009 12:40 PM

Crisp game of baseball today.

Gwreck
May 31 2009 12:43 PM

Seriously, Ray Ramirez? WTF? (Now Maine leaves game due to injury).

A Boy Named Seo
May 31 2009 12:44 PM

Jeez, Maine, too?

I'm gonna go do some jumping jacks and get ready for my inevitable call-up. They'll have to start turning to the general population soon enough.

OlerudOwned
May 31 2009 12:44 PM

Whaaaaaaaaat.

OlerudOwned
May 31 2009 12:52 PM

Swine flu.

Zvon
May 31 2009 12:53 PM

Thought that bad call on the swing might end up bitin us in the ass.
I thought jeeze, don't want to have him throwing more pitches than he has to.
But Feliciano puts up a very good inning.

Maine's tummy hurts too.

Frayed Knot
May 31 2009 12:55 PM

Now THAT's the Sheffield I've been waiting for! ... I swear he did that swinging topper thing at least twice a week when he was with the Yanx.

Hey, team caterer, wash those hands with soap next time.

May 31 2009 12:58 PM

Nice stroke, Fartinez.

Frayed Knot
May 31 2009 12:59 PM

That's twice in the last week that Jerry's sac bunts have led directly to runs.
I'm kind of torn about that fact.

Frayed Knot
May 31 2009 12:59 PM

The Flying Santos Brother!!

OlerudOwned
May 31 2009 01:00 PM

Farty looks like he's learning pretty quickly.

And now Santos with an RBI double! How can a guy with an OBP around .300 manage to have seemingly all of his hits in big spots?

Zvon
May 31 2009 01:00 PM

Ahhh, these runs are sooooo sweet.

Santos follows FMart with another 2 bagger.

Valdez with a bunt single!

OlerudOwned
May 31 2009 01:00 PM

Outstanding right-handed drag bunt single for Valdez. Picture perfect bat control.

Zvon
May 31 2009 01:04 PM

Hoping for more there.
But I'll take it.

3-0 Mets.

Putz coming on.

Phils up 3-1 in the 5th.

metirish
May 31 2009 01:13 PM

Putz is one annoying fucking pitcher......bloop hits, walks and Bobby P is warming up.

Zvon
May 31 2009 01:13 PM

K, get Putz outta there.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
May 31 2009 01:13 PM

Parnell to relieve Putz. How about them apples

OlerudOwned
May 31 2009 01:16 PM

Well this is bad.

Zvon
May 31 2009 01:17 PM

Shit.
3-2 Mets.

Parnell does not start off well.
DO NOT give this game away!

holychicken
May 31 2009 01:20 PM

Props to Parnell for that bailout job even if he did let that one score.

metirish
May 31 2009 01:20 PM

Bobby Big Balls comes back with two big outs.

OlerudOwned
May 31 2009 01:25 PM

Interesting figure, the Mets being 0-4 with four 1-run losses this season in rubber games.

Zvon
May 31 2009 01:34 PM

Man, I wanted that insurance run bad.

OK, go to work K-Rod.
gEtErDuN.

Phils up 3-2 in the 7th.
Myers out and will get that win 250 if the Phils hold on.

Where's those confounded books?

OlerudOwned
May 31 2009 01:44 PM

He put a little extra on that one, and he put it in the books. I'm so happy about this signing. Not only is he getting the job done, but he's so much fun to watch.

Frayed Knot
May 31 2009 01:52 PM

As opposed to Putz who's not only not as good so far but is a chore to watch to boot.

It wasn't the hits that pissed me off today but rather the one-out walk that set it all up. Then he went 3-2 to the light-hitting Bonifacio which forced him to come in with a too-good pitch. Yeah it was a cheesy hit (both off him were) which could have been a GiDP if it were a few feet either way, but it wasn't and it wasn't because of all the time-taking, deep-count going, momentum-sucking ABs which preceded it.

I had a great day at the Citi!

We tailgated with Iubitul, G-Fafif and bmfc1. Steve J. Rogers joined us for a quick burger, and was kind enough to stop by with beers during the game (thanks Steve!). We saw bmfc1 on the field for the National Anthem, and stuck around after the game so that MK could run the Mr. Met Dash.

I'm tired, somewhat tipsy (thanks Steve!), and very happy after a nearly picture perfect day at the ballpark :)

I neglected to mention that Benjamin Grimm introduced himself and his lovely kids to me after the Mr. Met Dash - it was great meeting another Crane Pooler in person :)
