Nice night all around on Friday as we pick up a game on the entire East division

* Dodgers beat the Phils despite Lidge coming in with a 1-run lead [u:02dce69533]AND[/u:02dce69533] getting the first two outs in the 9th
- R Furcal struck out looking
- O Hudson grounded out to pitcher
- C Blake singled to left
- J Loney walked
- R Martin safe at first on error by third baseman P Feliz
- A Ethier doubled to deep right

* Milwaukee's Yovani Gallardo (he's really good) shuts the Braves out on 2 hits (8 IPs) neither one of them by McLouth making his Braves debut

* and the Giants hang on (barely) to beat Florida despite getting only 2 runs on 12 hits & 2 walks. Cantu grounds to SS w/the bases loaded for the final out.

Elsewhere:
* Yanx get rained out w/Rays

* Zack Greinke gets bounced around by the Jays. 7 runs (5 earned) in 5 innings balloons his ERA to 1.55

* Ichiro's 28 game hit streak snapped. 0-4 plus a walk, including a 10th inning K to end the game

* and how 'bout Carl Pavano? Complete game 3-hitter in Chicago!
Now 6-4, 4.62

I have a fond spot for Pavano and wish him well. I like any player that takes Steinbrenner's money then spends the majority of his time in the Brox collecting his paycheck while on the DL or performing substantially worse then he had in the past. So god luck in Cleveland Carl. I hope you have a good season, particularly when you face the Yankees.

My cousin and his GF drove from Syracuse yesterday morning to go see the MFY's . Looking forward to it for weeks. They for some reason actually went to the stadium thinking the game would be on.

Lights out Lidge is known as what this season?

Heartbreak Lidge.

A couple of hefty lefties hooked up in da Bronx today as Sabathia faced David Price.
Price left in the 6th with a lead in only his 3rd ML game this season. But the Yanx tied it up at 5 after he left.
But then the Rays stuck a 4-spot up against Mariano (relieved by Phil Coke) in top 9th (oooh that's gotta hurt) which was enough to survive the 2 runs the Yanx got in the bottom.

9 - 7 Tampa is your final.

Phils & Dodgers scoreless in the 4th. Blanton v Kuroda

Phils @ Dodgers now in the 12th.

Phils pushed across 2 to take the lead but Lidge coughed up a HR to Furcal w/1 out in the 9th and it's been tied ever since.

That's 13 saves vs 6 blown for Lidge. It's a new year Brad.

Roy Oswalt, too old to throw hard and too young to pitch smart.

Final: Pirates 6, 11, 0 leaving 8. Astros 4, 10, 1 leaving 10.

And they're going to the 17th in San Diego, Padres 6, D-Backs 6. It looks like it's going to be Chad Gaudin for the duration for the Pads, but the Snakes have a few arms left.

Somehow, my first post got lost in the ether... but the Padres scored five times in the ninth, capped by a David Eckstein 3-run homer to send it to extras -- going to the bottom of the 17th now.

And the Padres turn to little-used backup infielder Josh Wilson to pitch the top of the 18th in a tie game.

Mark Reynolds hits a 3R HR in top 18
I have no idea who'll try to close it for the Snakes.

Atlanta got a rocky performance out of heralded rookie Tommy Hanson but finally put some runs on the board themselves after getting shut out twice and salvaged one from the Brewers.

So we picked up a game on them and maybe one on the Phillies depending on how their night game w/the Dodgers turns out. At the moment they're up 3-1.
