Sorry if you've voted already in the ver. 1, got an email from QC and it's
been amended for another re-vote. Hey it's all about changes and billable hours!

So far, all 6 voters are in the final category.

For the record, I'm not a lawyer and never for a moment considered becoming one.

Are you looking for a lawyer Kong?

You may have better luck with librarians.

WP: Are you looking for a lawyer Kong? <<<

No, just looking for clicks on the buttons opposite the statements.

Does being a solicitor count?

Triple Dee

Of course, in the common law world (excluding the US) a solicitor is just a practicising lawyer. A barrister is a practicising lawyer with a right of appearance, however the distinction is becoming increasingly blurred.

In the US, an attorney-at-law is analogous to a barrister.

(PS this is quite possibly the first post in the history of CPF originating from Hellas)

I've posted from Florence and Tokyo and (I think) Hiroshima.

Pardon my ignorance, but where is Hellas?

Greece!

Triple Dee

It's the Greek name for Greece.

Benjamin Grimm

Hah! They don't even know the name of their own country!

But at least we can thank them for John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

No. But you thank them for Grant Psomas, and by extension some fraction of Carlos Delgado.

When I was a kid my parents threw a New Year's Eve party every year. The tradition started before I was born and they continued it up until I was at least 14 or so. Big party, at least 100 people every year. It was always a great time.

One year my parents said that they were done with it and instead they were taking the family to Greece. They thought my sister and brother and I would be really upset because we always loved the party. But 'Greece'! How could we not be excited? My parents were thrilled and surpised that we kids were so excited. For weeks we were talking about it, telling our friends we were going to Greece for New Year's.

About a week or so before New Year's Eve I asked my mom when we were leaving and when and what I should pack. She looked at me like she didn't know what I was talking about. "For Greece" I said. "Why would you need to pack?" she asked me. We both looked at each confused and finally she understood and started laughing really hard.

"Not Greece the country, you dummy. 'Grease', the musical!' On Broadway!"

Oh, I was so pissed off.

Wow!

The cool thing would have been for your parents, once they learned about the miscommunication, to have immediately purchased plane tickets to Athens.

Guess that didn't happen, huh?

Worst bait and switch ever.

Well, until the Mets got the wrong Zambrano.

I'm a self-loathing lawyer. I voted that "i practice", but i'm more of a manager than a practicing lawyer, which is a rationalization that allows me to sleep better at night.

I am a lawyer. I practice law. I, too, loathe Vic.

Triple Dee
Jun 05 2009 09:17 AM

I'm practicing law, but my area of practice is in transfer pricing, which is more economics than law. That's my rationalization.

Michael: I don't know anyone who could get through the day without two or three juicy rationalizations. They're more important than sex.
Sam Weber: Ah, come on. Nothing's more important than sex.
Michael: Oh yeah? Ever gone a week without a rationalization?

I'm that person. I haven't practiced law since 1995. My hope is to become a law librarian when the kids are out of school.

I worked in a law library while I was in law school. It's a nice environment, for sure.

yeah i would guess the kids are ten times as respectful as they would be working in an undergraduate library.

It was actually a corporate library, which was very nice.

Although I have to tell you, I've been doing a lot of middle school library subbing. The kids in my district are amazingly polite!
