a different kind of marathon...

metsmarathon
Jun 03 2009 09:03 PM

well, the wife and i have decided that running a mere 26.2 miles on a given day is simply too easy, and too brief, and have entered into a longer, more grueling, and far more rewarding challenge. we’ve already embarked on the pre-season program, which will conclude after a grand total of about nine months - at which point, the real fun should start. a little bitty future runner should cross its first starting line come december 9th or thereabouts, and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

i can’t wait to get a sweet running stroller!

i still don't quite grasp how birds and bees are apt metaphors for nookie... tho perhaps if i had figured it out, maybe it wouldn't've taken five years of marriage before i knocked up my wife.

Jun 09 2009 03:04 PM

m.e.t.b.o.t. is unfamiliar with the process of assembling new humans, but assumes it to be very labor intensive.

as such, m.e.t.b.o.t. is concerned that this may take valuable time away from future upgrades to the intricate mechanisms which allow m.e.t.b.o.t. to continue to contribute to the schaeffer voting. m.e.t.b.o.t. has already noticed a marked decrease in the frequency and reliability with which m.e.t.b.o.t. is wound up to allow for participation in daily schaeffer voting, to the point where m.e.t.b.o.t. is concerned that the outcome of the ultimate voter tally may not adequately contain representative input from m.e.t.b.o.t. while m.e.t.b.o.t. has no objective evidence to substantiate this theory, m.e.t.b.o.t. is concerned that this decrease is related in some way to the assembly process, as opposed to the more conventional distractions regularly posed by occupational and social obligations.

this confuses m.e.t.b.o.t., as the limited data m.e.t.b.o.t. has access to indicates that the majority of the assembly process is overseen by the female of the species, and while m.e.t.b.o.t. has not been exposed to any indisputable evidence, human poster metsmarathon appears to meet the parameters consistent with a male.

m.e.t.b.o.t. is also aware of the destructive, though presumably innocent, tendencies of the early hardware releases of the human species and as such hopes to be placed on shelves of sufficient height and sturdiness during any periods of inactivity, until such time as the necessary software upgrades can be implemented to preclude the destructive behavior. as has been demonstrated to select human members of the cranepoolforum, m.e.t.b.o.t. is not capable of sophisticated evasive maneuvers and prefers passive methods of security.

that said, m.e.t.b.o.t. understands that it is customary and appropriate to express congratulations to humans embarking on the process of development, production, and life cycle support for hybrid replicas. m.e.t.b.o.t.'s cogs whir in anticipation of the new arrival, despite any potential changes in usage patterns, and hopes that any lessons learned in the development and maintenance of m.e.t.b.o.t. will prove useful in this current endeavor.

I had another friend deliver successfully yesterday. Very happy.

Those first photos can be something though. "Here's my wonderful newborn child. And here's my unspeakably beautiful wife... looking like she's had the snot beat out of her."

It's an important moment to capture for yourselves and your intimates, but I wonder if a week later your wives aren't all, 'Tell me you didn't put that shot on Facebook for everyone to see'."

minimm seems to be teething, even just before his 3-month birthday. we are not fans. especially not him.

Re: a different kind of marathon...

yeah, it seems like that was a false alarm, i guess. might've just been the start of the process. he's yet to sprout a tooth, though we're anxiously awaiting it. in the meantime, he just loves sucking on his hands, feet, and any stray objects that encounter the gravitational force of his slobbery fingers.
