METS:

soupcan Jun 09 2009 02:16 PM |
I guess that's the best they can throw out there right now.
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2009 02:17 PM |
So Church gets to go against the LHP but not Murphy.
Kong76 Jun 09 2009 05:50 PM |
Could it be that everyone is at the game?
Zvon Jun 09 2009 05:56 PM |
Not me.
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 05:59 PM |
Couldn't get there from Tampa but I've been very, very pleased! Wright, HR and 2B, yeeha!
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 06:01 PM |
Activity in the Phillies bullpen...pond is full of ducks for Church.
Zvon Jun 09 2009 06:07 PM |
Was hopin for more.
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2009 06:12 PM |
Chipper being proven wrong tonight.
Zvon Jun 09 2009 06:13 PM |
Carp!
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 06:21 PM |
With two outs. That blows. On the plus side, MFY's are down 5-0.
Willets Point Jun 09 2009 06:29 PM |
I can't believe "Bobby in disguise" was ten years ago!
Zvon Jun 09 2009 06:30 PM |
That would make a good spoof song using "Judy In Disguise"
Willets Point Jun 09 2009 06:32 PM |
It's been done. Google "Bobby in disguise".
Elster88 Jun 09 2009 06:35 PM |
I saw on the replay Sheffield was running as hard as he could but still got thrown out at second. But I missed where the ball hit. Was it off the wall? The top of the wall?
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 06:40 PM |
Off the wall, left center.
Zvon Jun 09 2009 06:43 PM |
Well played by Ibanez but man, Sheff is slow. Didn't look slow, was busting it all the way, but man he's slow. Gah, Rollins just gives the Phils the lead with a 2 run homer.
themetfairy Jun 09 2009 06:44 PM |
Present and accounted for.
Willets Point Jun 09 2009 06:44 PM |
Time for the Phillies to become Happ-less.
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 06:47 PM |
Damn, all four runs given up with two outs!
Elster88 Jun 09 2009 06:48 PM |
Church was up there to bunt. Jesus.
Zvon Jun 09 2009 06:49 PM |
Gotta plate Tatis from third w/0 out.
Zvon Jun 09 2009 06:50 PM |
AWWWW COME ONNNNNNNNNNN
Willets Point Jun 09 2009 06:50 PM |
Phuck. He was safe!
Elster88 Jun 09 2009 06:51 PM |
It doesn't matter how clear it is that tag wasn't there. If the throw beats you you're out. Ruiz wasn't even holding the ball.
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 06:51 PM |
There was no f-ing tag!
Zvon Jun 09 2009 06:51 PM |
He was safe too.
Nymr83 Jun 09 2009 06:51 PM |
that fucking sucks.
Willets Point Jun 09 2009 06:56 PM |
Johan says "Phuck this, I'll do it myself!"
Zvon Jun 09 2009 06:56 PM |
SANTANA! ties it
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 06:58 PM |
Johan, that's a nice swing. I used to love when Leiter did that.
bmfc1 Jun 09 2009 06:58 PM |
How many more years do we have to watch Castillo?
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 06:59 PM |
Cora's a pro! Nice hitting...right through the box.
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2009 07:11 PM |
He pitches, he hits, he fields.
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 07:12 PM |
Now he's flashing the leather!! I think Santana could beat the Phillies by himself.
Zvon Jun 09 2009 07:20 PM |
WOOT!
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 07:20 PM |
Right in the apple! Nice Church.
themetfairy Jun 09 2009 07:20 PM |
Church homers INTO THE APPLE!!!!
Zvon Jun 09 2009 07:21 PM |
Straight center!!
Edgy DC Jun 09 2009 07:22 PM |
Church.
Edgy DC Jun 09 2009 07:25 PM |
I'm following online. Is this game at Yankee Stadium?
Fman99 Jun 09 2009 07:27 PM |
Johan rules. He was visibly pissed when Manuel came to get him, held the ball up to his face and waved it at him and said "I do not want to come out."
metirish Jun 09 2009 07:27 PM |
I have never seen a pitcher as pissed as Santana was over being pulled....he was cursing the decision and to me it looked like he cursed jerry when he handed over the ball..
Zvon Jun 09 2009 07:27 PM |
That damn pesky foul mouthed Utley.
Zvon Jun 09 2009 07:30 PM |
This better work Jerry...
Edgy DC Jun 09 2009 07:30 PM |
Biggest moment of the year for Feliciano.
Fman99 Jun 09 2009 07:31 PM |
Cohen said he "took a bite out of the apple," a phrase I like. Is he the first player to hit ball into the apple in this park?
Fman99 Jun 09 2009 07:32 PM |
Oh, and BOO YA on the DP turned.
Zvon Jun 09 2009 07:33 PM |
YAY!

Wandereli "The Axe Murderer" Silva?
Edgy DC Jun 09 2009 07:34 PM |
Feliciano --- also an animal.
bmfc1 Jun 09 2009 07:36 PM |
I couldn't understand why Omar kept Feliciano while he was axing everybody else... I was wrong.
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 07:36 PM |
Oh, yeah, Bosux over the MFYs, 6-0 at the 7th inning stretch.
Edgy DC Jun 09 2009 07:38 PM |
Due to the injuries, Murphy has been getting less than advantageous pinch hitting spots of late.
Fman99 Jun 09 2009 07:41 PM |
In Frankie we trust.
Zvon Jun 09 2009 07:42 PM |
He mighta gotten K'd there but I love how Murph swings at those tight inside pitches. No fear there. Goes right at em. He will hit his share of em too.
Fman99 Jun 09 2009 07:44 PM |
I also was a Jerkface on this point.

KRod's the bomb!
Edgy DC Jun 09 2009 07:51 PM |
Oh, shit, big fat Matt Stairs.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 09 2009 07:54 PM |
Rollins = punk
Fman99 Jun 09 2009 07:55 PM |
I love that slider. Nasty break on that thing.
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 07:55 PM |
Got to give him props. Good, hard slide.
Willets Point Jun 09 2009 07:55 PM |
The same word came to my mind even though it was a great play.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 09 2009 07:56 PM |
KROD!!!!!!!
Fman99 Jun 09 2009 07:56 PM |
The Mets had the best starter, and the best finisher, in baseball toeing the rubber tonight.
themetfairy Jun 09 2009 07:57 PM |
Whew!
metirish Jun 09 2009 07:58 PM |
Great finish.....Victorino in the dugout with them crazy eyes....yeah fuck you too Shane
metsguyinmichigan Jun 09 2009 07:59 PM |
Wow. We really can't ask more than what we getting from KRod. All the talk about All-Stars, both he and Santana need to make that squad.
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2009 07:59 PM |
Not that it mattered in the long run, but the Phils had no one to pr for tying-run Matt Stairs there?!?
Zvon Jun 09 2009 07:59 PM |
Yackity schmakity doo!
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 09 2009 08:00 PM |
Great game.
bmfc1 Jun 09 2009 08:01 PM |
What a game!
themetfairy Jun 09 2009 08:07 PM |
Towards the end of the game, Keith expressed that he wished all games were like this one.
Kong76 Jun 09 2009 08:08 PM |
mgim: Rollins = punk
Frayed Knot Jun 09 2009 08:14 PM |
Nuthin' wrong with that slide and a lot of things right with it.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 09 2009 08:15 PM |
Never said it was a bad slide ... but Rollins is still a punk!
Elster88 Jun 09 2009 08:16 PM |
Leiter never did that. Ever.
Kong76 Jun 09 2009 08:23 PM |

John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 09 2009 09:12 PM |
Great game from the park! I mean, as much as you like HR slugfests
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 09 2009 10:22 PM |
Just got home-- I feel like I'm high.
Edgy DC Jun 10 2009 06:00 AM |
Howie couldn't shut up about how it was the first time that the park thundered like Big Shea.

was it Leiter that made a charity-bet with Francessa/Russo that he could hit one ball to the warning track the whole season?
metirish Jun 10 2009 07:21 AM |
Gary remarked on that too.
Frayed Knot Jun 10 2009 07:35 AM |
He made some kind of silly bet with them like that. I forget the details. But Piggies' original connection was that Leiter used to do that fake-bunt/swing-away thing a lot because it seemed to help his timing and he'd get the occasional (cheesy) hit out of it. But Elster's right in that Leiter never stung a ball using that method the way Johan did last night. Even big Al's famous triple was really just a well-placed, soft-ish liner that was misplayed into a three-bagger.
metirish Jun 10 2009 07:38 AM |
Leiter might have been the worst I have ever seen with a bat but he was always fun to watch up there.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 10 2009 07:46 AM |
Definintely loud and a good time was had by all. I mean, even the Phillies fans got to see 4 home runs.
Edgy DC Jun 10 2009 07:50 AM |
Leiter stunk, but it isn't hard to think of ten worse. Statistically or visually.
Frayed Knot Jun 10 2009 07:54 AM |

Edgy DC Jun 10 2009 08:04 AM |
Yeah, I probably bit off more than I can chew there.
metirish Jun 10 2009 08:08 AM |
I was going to call yer bluff but then I though to myself , Edgy is probably scouring over data right now and will have ten names up soon.....
