Aside from getting a lil squeezed on Utley ,Pelf has a nice 1st.

Swan Swan H
Jun 10 2009 05:19 PM

Pelf gets through the first with a minimal amount of perspiration. Time to shove the bats so far up Hamels' tight preppie ass that he chokes from the bottom up.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr
Jun 10 2009 05:29 PM

Meh. Needs more bat-shoving/bottom-up choking.

Zvon
Jun 10 2009 05:30 PM

Mets make Hamels throw 22 pitches in a rather uneventful 1st.
I like.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr

Applause for Wright as he walks to the plate.

What, did he catch a foul ball or something?

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr
Jun 10 2009 05:40 PM

Steal # 15 for Willie McWright!

Zvon
Jun 10 2009 05:45 PM

Tatis couldn't move him over to 3rd.
Church flies out to right center.
Santos Ks swinging at highshit.

Wright stranded.

Swan Swan H
Jun 10 2009 05:49 PM

Why is Hamels not picking helmet shards from his right temple? I am essentially a pacifist, but this guy needed one smack in the ear. Or, you know, at least a little shave.

Fastballs are nice, but I could really go for some...

Zvon
Jun 10 2009 05:50 PM

Whoa, Pelf freezes Rollins with a perfect inside slider to end the Phils 3rd.
That was pretty to watch.

Swan Swan H

Holy Shawn Estes! Pelfrey fails to nail Public Enemy #1 from the mound, but whacks one over the head of an outfielder instead. Only a double, but close enough for a strained comparison such as this.

Zvon
Jun 10 2009 05:55 PM

whoaYEA. Castillo beats it out and moves Pelf to 3rd!

Swan Swan H
Jun 10 2009 05:55 PM

lol.
Home plate ump Randy Marsh gets clocked in the head by a ricochet foul ball off the net behind home.
Not hurt, even laughing about it.

Zvon

That's a big run, being first blood, but me thinks we will need more runs, please.
And keep doin what your doin Pelf.

Jun 10 2009 06:08 PM

That pesky darn foul mouthed Utley.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr
Jun 10 2009 06:10 PM

I'm not so much a put-one-in-his-ear guy, but Utley needs to get hit... and hard. He's camped so long on that inside half of the plate he's due squatter's rights.

I'd rather see him get floored avoiding some high and tight heat.
I'd love to see Pelf take his feet out from under him.

But I've never seen Utley budge on a pitch.

If the situation was right I might try to give him that base though, just to bruise him.
That won't get him off the plate.

Damn, Wright don't score from second on Santos single.
Bases bloated, 1 out. Pelf.

Zvon

Utley really pisses off Pelfrey now by stepping out of the box during that at-bat.
Draws a lil mound conference to calm him down.

Don't let him get to you that way Mikey.
YEA.
Put it to him and let him ground out.

Utley tries to get into Pelf's head, but NOTHING gets into Pelf's head. David and Jerry give the youngster a good talking to, then Utley grounds harmlessly to Castillo.

Meanwhile, Hamels' night is over early.

He has just as much right to run/the baseline as Ruiz has to field. As long as neither party is going out of their way to impede the other, there's no interference call.

That was one wacky play.
Tatis bunts and it looked like interference with the catcher, and was, but that call could have gone worse for us.

Good call by Marsh, I think, cause looked like Tatis did have the right to try and run thru that.

Durbin was having trouble throwing strikes, and we let 'em off the hook. Now Jerry's got us pinned to the mat again, with Muffy needing a big hit vs. the kinda pitcher Jerry doesn't even trust Muffy enough to strt against.

Had he played all these possibilities out beforehand he Shirley coulda come up with scenario.

Time for someone to Chan Ho Park one in the seats.

Pitcher's spot follows Beltran and Fartinez is the last position player left.

Well when you leave 15 guys on base and give away an unearned run late, you get what you get.

Fuck this shit. One run ain't nothing. Madson is about five minutes from the neck-punching of his life. By 11:30 he's going to be on the phone with his mother asking if he can move back home.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

OK, they got the replacement closer coming in, so let's fuck him up.

I know it's not over but you can't make as many mistakes as the Mets do and expect to win many moer times than you lose. No baseruning blunders tonight but Beltranand Wright dropping balls in the 7th we're killers. Factor in more than a rugby side left on base and as was stated earlier, you get what you get.

Don't roll over, boys!

They deserved to lose. They left too many on base and you can't do that against the MFPs. Beltran stunk it up tonight--DP with the bases loaded and the dropped fly; Wright screws up the grounder--and the Phillies always take advantage.

The only down side is that one of them had to win. At least it was't the MFYs.

I don't think they choked.

But it also seems that Charlie Manuel is ging the opposition a gift batting all those lefties in a row like that, and the Mets didn't accept it. Was Takahashi unavailable?

I wanna go back to the bunt. The failure there was definitely Santos' but Jerry had to know that whole strategy amounted to Santos and Murphy batting with at least 1 out over Tatis and Church with 1 out max.

Other than that, Werth saved the game with his glove and we f'ed up with the glove twice.

Shame to have wasted such terrific efforts by Pelfrey, Feliciano and Rodriguez especially.

JCL's absolutely right about the bunt.
