IGT, Mets @ O's 6/17
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2009 01:37 PM |
This is a true story: Junior Lunchpail's best little pals are named Koji and Redding, just like tonight's opposing starters.

Last-names-as-firsts very popular these days. I'm thinking of naming my first kid Weiner or Lipschitz.
|
Edgy DC Jun 17 2009 01:49 PM |
That settles it. I'm naming my kid "Hagar."

Saltalamacchia Schwartz. Kranepool McGee. Wockenfuss Marino. The possibilities from baseball alone are endless.

As in 'Sammy' or 'The Horrible'?

Same thing.

I should add that Koji is not Japanese.
|

A lot of rain down there apparently , although Lennon reports that the tarp is coming off

Nah, that's just a heapin' helping of pretension (and 21st-Century Orientalism). Batshit would be actively trying to make the kid Japanese. Still, though, pretty funny. (Grew up with a Yuki myself that was whiter than Tom Cruise's teeth.)

Frayed Knot Jun 17 2009 02:19 PM |
Y'mean Kobe Bryant isn't Japanese either?!?

Nice stuff by Kevin B getting Boog Powell last night and Palmer tonight talking
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2009 06:43 PM |
Go Sheff.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2009 06:52 PM |
Big trip here for Cora. Sacks juicy, 1 out.
|
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 17 2009 06:54 PM |
What's a professional hitter. Yeeha, Cora!
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2009 06:56 PM |
Jerry yanks the Fart after he destroyed a double in his last turn, going with Tatis vs the left Hendrickson.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2009 06:57 PM |
Tatis makes Jerry look stoopit.
|
metsguyinmichigan Jun 17 2009 06:58 PM |
Grrrr. Double plays with bases loaded and one out are horrible.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 17 2009 07:23 PM |
I think Jerry's overdoing the switch thing here -- as Parnell was cruising along but gets pulled for a lefty/righty deal.
|
Kong76 Jun 17 2009 07:27 PM |
Log on, and phwam
|
Frayed Knot Jun 17 2009 07:28 PM |
That the switch didn't work is just an extra kick in the nads.
|
Kong76 Jun 17 2009 07:30 PM |
Holy crap play by Cora, you'll be seeing that one all week.
|
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 17 2009 07:32 PM |
Another Stokes sighting. Fingers crossed for tonight's performance.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2009 07:32 PM |
Great play by Cora.

I suppose that in a tie game you've got to look for every edge you can get ... but I thought that one smacked of desperation where it wasn't needed even before he did it and left him with little in reserve if/when things went wrong.
|
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 17 2009 07:40 PM |
Nice swing, Sheff. Let's go young Daniel.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 17 2009 07:45 PM |
Gotta hold them here and hope the top of the lineup gets it done in the 9th
|
Kong76 Jun 17 2009 07:55 PM |
LET'S
|

GO
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2009 07:58 PM |
uh, METS
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2009 08:00 PM |
Hey Tatis with a sneaky dubble down the line.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 17 2009 08:00 PM |
Has Beltran gone after the first pitch each time tonight?
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2009 08:00 PM |
What did Beltran see 4 pitches tonight?
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2009 08:01 PM |
And that's that.
|
Kong76 Jun 17 2009 08:02 PM |
That's that, if I wasn't an addict I'd find a new drug.

The answer to these simultaneous asked questions is ... well, not quite, it merely seemed that way. Carlos swung at the 3rd (FO), 2nd (1B), 2nd(FO), 1st (GO) & 1st (FO) pitches in his 5 ABs
