Mets's Medical Staff-- Ministry of Disinformation

Anyway

LETS!

Kong76
Jun 18 2009 05:04 PM

It's funny how in some sports and with some teams not fully disclosing
injuries, intentions, whatever, etc. it's heralded as keeping things close
to the vest and prudent not to show all your cards.

But, with many Mets' fans, especially online ones and radio heads ...
it's disinformation, not showing us the plan, pulling the wool over the
fan's eyes, and generally dicking Johnny Q Lunchpail.

Phils lost, Mets need to win today. Focus.

I'd ax the medical staff. All of them-- doctors, trainers, masseuses. This is crazy.

Kong76
Jun 18 2009 06:07 PM

Based on what, exactly?

Start a thread, let's discuss it.

I like the Old Bay seasoning ad behind home plate.

(hey, it's a slow IGT)

Edgy DC
Jun 18 2009 06:32 PM

I'm here to speed it up. So is Cora, apparently.

PiggiesTomatoes
Jun 18 2009 06:34 PM

This game is the equivalent of ambien. Please, let's get something going!

PiggiesTomatoes
Jun 18 2009 06:34 PM

Gracias, Carlos.

Edgy DC
Jun 18 2009 06:35 PM

First and third. I deliver scoring opportunities.

Mets plate one. YAY!

PiggiesTomatoes
Jun 18 2009 06:38 PM

Is there such a thing as a bad sac fly? Cora and Beltran get decent pitches to hit and deliver, then Wright swings at the first pitch.

Edgy DC
Jun 18 2009 06:41 PM

There's no such thing as a bad run, except maybe a sacrifice fly in the ninth when you're down by more than one.

Certainly not tonight.

Big time hit by Churchie and we're tied.

Jun 18 2009 06:48 PM

Gotta love Livan getting through six with only two runs.

metsguyinmichigan
Jun 18 2009 06:53 PM

Livan's performed far better than I ever thought we'd get from him.

metsguyinmichigan
Jun 18 2009 06:54 PM

Cora, too.

MURPH

themetfairy
Jun 18 2009 06:57 PM

RBI for Muffy!

metsguyinmichigan
Jun 18 2009 06:57 PM

HUGE double for Murphy! And Cora's stolen base set that up for sure!

metsguyinmichigan
Jun 18 2009 07:10 PM

Oh no, something's up with Livan. Looks like he tweaked something.

Swan Swan H
Jun 18 2009 07:12 PM

Apparently just a little cramp or spasm or something. He's back at Jones and looks fine.

Edgy DC
Jun 18 2009 07:27 PM

Melvin, I still root for you. But not tonight.

Castillo saves the day with a lovely grab to his left, and Green whiffs TWiggy, and the mets have a skinny 1-run lead going into the ninth.

Frankie, come entertain us.

metsguyinmichigan

Not entertained, Frankie, with that lead-off double by the phenom.

PiggiesTomatoes

Not a fan of putting the winning run on base. We've been down this road before.

There arebn't a lot of members in the Putting the Winning Run on Base Fan Club.

Livan got hosed. Should have been a win for him. Combined with the Phillies loss and the tough road ahead, this was horrible.

Nothing really. He's always been a high-walk guy.

Another killer road loss. I thought I had been doing a good job avoiding these but then the Castillo game and now tonight.

Key play in the 9th was not getting the out (and keeping a margin for error on the basepahts) when Roberts bunted. Just killer.

I also think that had Rodriguez not walked in the tying run but rather allowed it via an out-producing method (ie. Sac Fly, RBI groundout) we would've gone to extras.

Liked the two-out hits. Church's ball was rocked off the wall in the 6th and he only got a single. He should have been at second, however, after the throw went home and then subsequently got away from the catcher and went to the backstop. More of this head-up-our-ass baserunning is just not acceptable.

Had a great time at Camden -- my first time there. Took the tour and got to see a good part of the Met contingent arriving: Schneider/Parnell/Church and Switzer passing us in one of the tunnels underground; Luis Castillo and Fernando Tatis getting out of the cab they shared as we walked by. Resisted the urge to give some choice words to the latter pair.

Even though it's 17 years old, Camden still looks fantastic and is a great place to see the game. Loved Eutaw Street as part of the concourse (like Yawkey Way, but improved and with more space); loved the downtown view from the seats; loved the warehouse incorporated into the park. CI can clearly see how other parks too parts of what Camden did and probably did them a little better (Busch Stadium, Citizens Bank, PNC, etc) but still great to see the initial inspiration.

Orioles do a very nice job of honoring their history with well accessible and interesting Orioles hall-of fame plaques. I did find it curious though that while the retired numbers exist in statue form outside the park, and there's marking of the pennants/championships in the concourse, there are no markings of either inside the stadium (ie. the seating bowl/field/etc). I think this is the only stadium I've seen where they don't have either anywhere visible.

TONS of Mets fans around, which was a little surprising given it was a weeknight game. I'd guess the park was close to 1/3 Mets fans.

Just think, the Mets could be just one game behind the Phillies right now.....

I don't know who is more to blame. Feliciano for giving up that run in the 8th, that damn third base umpire or Frankie.

They really need to get their act together.

I just noticed that the NATIONALS were able to accomplish something the Mets couldn't, take a series from the MFYs. The Nats can do it.....but the Mets can't. Poor.

To be fair, Feliciano didn't give up the run-- Green did, on the grounder that Castillo had to dive for.
