Onetime Met hero (literally one time) is back in the organization, presumably to show Emil Brown how it's done.

]The New York Mets today announced that they have acquired OF Chip Ambres from the Boston Red Sox. The veteran outfielder has been assigned to the Buffalo Bisons. Ambres, 29, was hitting .259 (48-185) with nine doubles, three home runs and 18RBI in 52 games with the Pawtucket Red Sox (AAA) this year. He has hit .282 (11-39) with 14RBI with runners in scoring position and has played all three outfield positions. Ambres is coming off a career season in 2008. With Portland (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League, Ambres hit .279 with career highs in home runs (22) and RBI (77). He also played 24 games over two stints with the San Diego Padres last season (.195, 8-41). Ambres, a 2004 International League All-Star with Pawtucket, signed as a free agent with the Mets in 2007. That year, he hit .274 (117-427) with 21 home runs and 71RBI at New Orleans (AAA) before playing three games in New York with the Mets (.333, 1-3, 1RBI).

He was "acquired" but no word of who or what the Mets sent to Boston in return.

Was there a trade or was he claimed on waivers?

I was formerly known as PiazzaFan411. I also did the wrestling posts. Which, believe me, I am WAY done with. I've almost come to hate it now.

Have no fear, there shall no longer be any wrestling threads.

That was years ago. I'll guess you were about 14 then and maybe 18 now? That's quite a difference.

Here's a classic thread from 2005:

I can only imagine what Fman99 would have said about Beth Adams' udders.

Nah, not into any other sports besides Baseball at the moment. And Hockey. I'm past the wrestling stuff.

Anyways, anyone find out who they lost in the transaction? I couldn't find any info anywhere.

Now THAT thread was frickin' hilarious.
A whole boat load of 'Bullets of Cool' just in that one thread.

The bullets of cool were flying so fast in that thread that I had to hit the deck.

I finally strained a back muscle laughing at "Magic:The Gathering Tournament Results."

Downer of a finish, though, huh? One guy dies alone in a steroids-related incident and another guy kills his family in a murder-suicide roid rage. That'll help you grow up fast.

Looking back at some of those things, they are actually pretty funny now. Especially the Magic: Gathering and the Pigeon competitions. I didn't think that this thread would go down as one of the classics.

Thanks for the warning about the toxic levels of funny-- now I'm crying at work, and it's not because of poor managerial support this time.

And I pulled an oblique at "Guam." Thanks, BeeG.

That was a hilarious thread that kept getting better and better the further it got. Brilliant work all around.

For the most part I wasn't even in that thread and barely remember most of it. But as I'm reading it I get a load of CF's;

"I just wish pro-wrestling remained as un-PC as it used to be with the Iron Sheik and Mr. Fuji...i think pro-wrestling would be so much more popular if they had badguys named Taliban Tim, or....Michigan Militia Mike. A new villain named Kim Jong Illin' could come out, golf a 59 and then threaten to blow up the stadium..."

and think to myself, 'man I hope people didn't miss that one', only to find myself chiming in for the first time about ten posts later with 'I hope people didn't miss that one'.

And it's lines like that why building on the 'Bullet of Cool' idea is more important than the next presidential election.
