Where is Stokes?

Does anybody besides me think it's odd that we haven't seen Stokes in more than a week? Is he hurt?

I and some others wondered the very same thing in a recent thread. Stokes has not appeared in a game since pitching a scoreless inning against the Nationals on Friday, June 5th.

I hope that he isn't hurt or arm weary. I hope that the lefty laden line up of the Phillies simply made Jerry Manuel reluctant to use him in the recent series.

I think Jerry sees him as the long man/mop up man, and the Mets have been lucky enough the past week to not need someone to fill that role.

I would love to see him get more appearances against righties to spell Green/Parnell.

I would love to see him alongside them.

Our third most effective (and most efficient, in terms of pitches per batter/inning) reliever this year ain't young Mr. Parnell.

In the meantime, he'll continue to work on that Bertrand Russell biography, tutor the Pepsi cheer squad in trig, and occasionally toke up in the eighth.

What's sad is that Thursday night, in our hotel room, my friend and I -- and she's a crazier fan as I am -- couldn't even remember that Stokes was on the roster. We had to look him up. As they were bringing Takahashi in to pitch, we knew Sean Green was left, and figured they wouldn't use Frankie... and simply couldn't figure out who the missing guy was.

Sorry, Brian.

Coed hotel rooming. Nicely done.

Of course Stokes surfaced today just in time to throw gas on the fire.
I suppose he could blame rust.
