We have to pick one right?

Manuel

I think it will be Jerry. The lack of enforcement of fundamental baseball play falls on the manager's shoulders.

My prediction (not necessarily my opinion) is Omar. I think changing managers bought him time but if the Mets don't make the playoffs this year, he should be worried for his job.

I think all are safe for the time being, but if the Mets fall short, Jerry probably takes the hit.

One year left on the contract, reasonable salary, Bobby V looming. Sorry Jerry.

Yabbut he signed a 3-year deal. Jerry's only got 1 left after this one.

Of course this is a trick poll and the obvious answer, even if its not obvious this morning, is Joe Girardi, who should be coming off a 2 of 3 loss to the Mets and still hasn't beaten the Red Sox.

I could see a scenario where Joe and Jerry get whacked on the same day -- first after their respectove seasons end sans playoffs -- and a Bobby V Bidding War erupts.

Omar and Jerry at the same time.

This is a war... we cannot lose. Is there room for a Bobby V's Sports Gallery Cafe in centerfield to cinch the deal?

And does the loser get caught in the Acta?

I concur. I think if one goes, the other will be shortly after (if not at the same time).

WTF was Acta supposed to do with that team? I remember when Manny was thought of as a bright young up and coming manager , this can't help him.

Meanwhile, I completely missed hearing about Clint Hurdle getting fired in Colorado. I just looked it up, and it happened on May 29.

Acta (presumably) getting the Fall-Guy treatment leads us back to... crap.
(Hey, guy-- just shut up until Bora needs something else leaked. Shutupshutupshutupshutupshutup.)

]Manny Acta appears to be on his way out as Nationals manager, and while respected ex-big league manager Jim Riggleman reportedly will be installed as the interim manager, team higher-ups also have begun internal discussions about permanent candidates. One of those candidates to replace Acta, according to National League sources, is Bobby Valentine, who is currently in his seventh season as manager of the Chiba Lotte Mariners in Japan.

I would hope so, because I don't see Omar ever hiring Bobby V.

I really liked Jerry last year, and was glad when he was extended.

I'm not feeling it anymore, though. My enthusiasm for Omar is gone, too. He's shown that he's at best, an average GM. Maybe not below average, but certainly not above average.

If they were both fired tomorrow, I wouldn't feel any regret at all.

I have no idea who the next GM would be. And it's hard to even guess without knowing who'd be in charge of hiring him.

Sure, we all want Bobby Valentine. (I do too, although I think I'd actually prefer Davey Johnson.) But my guess is it would be some new guy who's never managed the Mets before.

I think he'd hire Bobby. In fact they are good friends going back to the Texas days . Bobby is apparently friendly with the Wilpons and has attended charity functions for them. That friendship with Minaya has helped thaw out things with the Wilpons , at least I read that somewhere once.

I'd wager that Minaya would hire Bobby htis season.

I echo the sentiment about only being able to vote for one. I'd have rathered vote for Omar but he'll cut Jerry fast so quick to save his own ass (see Randolph, Willie), it would probably never get to that point.

I'd pick up Bobby V. at the airport, if the Wilpon's brought him back.

I was slow to vote, wanted to think about it today.

Mets lose a couple of ugly ones in B'more and don't play well at home against
the team formerly know as the Devil Rays ...

Bye-bye Jerry on Monday morning 6/22.

I went with Omar Minaya. He kind of deserves it most.

Jerry's toast. He'll be real gangsta, holding up liquor stores for soup money.

No way.

"Disappearing" of guys like Stokes and weird playing-time decisions notwithstanding, he's far more popular than Willie was with the players.

Between that and the injury excuse (and the fact that firing him would mean the Wilpons would be paying three managers for this year), I think he'll linger for a while, like gangsta mold.

Eh, I figured I'd pick a day.

I hope we don't have to live through a crappy series in B'more, etc. to find
out. I didn't even consider that the Mets were still on the Willie hook. Lazy
question, is this the last year or is there another? I forget.
