Three-game sweep.

I'm breaking out the Roger Clemens Thought it was the Ball Curse.

Nine years since they've 'won' anything ... ninety-one more to go.

Got Rings?

(have to stop, I was just going to continue with something vulgarly over-the-top)

Sheff returns, Church gets to roam CF but gets moved down vs the LHP, and Evans gets the nod over Murphy for the same reason

Castillo, 2b
Cora, ss
Wright, 3b
Sheffield, lf
Tatis, rf
Church, cf
Evans, 1b
Santos, c
Pelfrey, rhp

One downside for tonight: CC can hit

Swan Swan H
Jun 26 2009 01:58 PM

Keep the ball down, Pelf.

Gwreck

Cap'n Intangibles SS
Johnny Damon LF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Slappy 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Melky Cabrera RF
Brett Gardner, CF
Francisco Cervelli C
CC Sabathia P

Slappy 3B, funny.

Cap'n Intangibles has been scratched.

NYPost_MetsThe Yankees have scratched Derek Jeter from the lineup due to what the club described as "a substantial cough."

Jun 26 2009 04:37 PM

I just caught the end of a Kevin B interview with Castillo (I find it hard to
have hat for him) and then they showed a stadium shot and it is freakin'
raining gloves and bats.

This is a fucking train wreck...three errors in the inning , one purely comical from Evans

Time to turn the TV off in disgust.

Frayed Knot
Jun 26 2009 06:39 PM

This is a new twist, everyone except Castillo makes an error.

The next hard hit ball the Yanx have will be their first.

Gwreck
Jun 26 2009 06:40 PM

There's a reason Billy Joel is not allowed in the IGTs, and this is it.

Seriously, that's totally unacceptable. 3 errors? Are you fucking serious?

Kong76
Jun 26 2009 06:41 PM

Well, between Yankees dinks and dunks (you know them), and crap ass play
in the field by the Metsies, that was one craptastic second inning.

metirish
Jun 26 2009 06:45 PM

Ron said some of the funniest shit I have heard in a while form a color guy, he had the audacity(of no hope?) to remark on the play that the umps called the infield fly rule on that if Castillo was smart he could have dropped the ball and turned two....in that inning with that player against that team.....I laughed out loud...

Frayed Knot
Jun 26 2009 06:46 PM

The 1st base ump has called more strikes in the bottom half of innings tonight than the home plate ump has called in the top halves so far.

Careful - don't say anything bad about the Mets or Willets will get angry!

Frayed Knot
Jun 26 2009 06:51 PM

I have this fear of backup Yanqui catchers -- they're all like .210 hitters but somehow manage to hit around .460 when I'm watching.
I swear whenever Posada sits and I'm watching the game their offense improves.

oe: Hey, we got a fucking call!!!!

on 2nd edit: today it's their backup SS

The Mets have sucked so far this IGT. Willets don't like me much so I can
say it. The Mets have sucked so far this IGT.

Gwreck
Jun 26 2009 07:11 PM

Pelfrey finally with a 1-2-3 inning.

The Mets could really use some baserunners this time through the order, especially as they haven't had one yet.

And for everyone worried about homers at Citi, the old man just hit another
and it's still not summer weather here in NY even though July is on the door
step.

I would've been fine with using Livan Hernandez there.

Horrible choice. Got to send up a better hitter, lefty or not, in a situation like that.

Edgy DC

Sabathia just made as bad an effort running that ball out as you're likely to see.

Seriously. As the tying run, that's the first guy off the bench? Pathetic. Send a lefty up for Chrissakes.

Which one --- Martinez, Murphy, Reed, or Schneider?

Mental error by Tatis.

Swan Swan H
Jun 26 2009 08:13 PM

Murphy. Just because there are two out you don't give up on the inning. I'd use my best hitter there. A double brings in two and makes it a different game.

Murphy or Reed, really. I don't have a problem saving Fartinez to PH as a leadoff guy, and saving Schneider as the backup catcher. But Reed and Murphy have more ABs in the pros and just all around better game.

Muffie has hit lefties in his career. If it's me that's who I send up.

Dessens is on the roster?

Elmer gets the fly and Castillo uses both hands to catch the pop fly. And grinning the whole time.

I like the infield fly rule playing second.

Gwreck
Jun 26 2009 08:27 PM

He's 6-7 and probably 330 lbs. How much do you think he'd have to weight to actually fill out that uniform?

Jun 26 2009 08:27 PM

Are you fucking serious? Brett Gardner?

FUCK.

Gwreck
Jun 26 2009 08:28 PM

On that home run, Gary Cohen just referred to the right field corner as "Utley's Corner."

Seriously? WTF?

He looks like an understuffed sausage out there. Too much casing.

A-Rod with the HR now that the lead is padded. Good stuff right there.

Oh, Elmer. I loved you once.

Kate Hudson in attendance, laughing and having fun watching her boy toy hit meaningless homers.

I'd still go all hog wild on her though. I don't even care.

There was a "study" on some fantasy site that listed the HRs that weren't at Citi that would have been at Shea (a bunch including 6 for Wright).
And there were two HRs that would NOT have been at Shea but were at CF - both by Chase Utley.

Yeah, Gary talked about that. And I knew what he was referring to.

It doesn't make the call any more acceptable.
