METS:
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 05:08 PM |
Churchie a late scratch.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 05:35 PM |
I'm in a tinkernig mood, so I'm going to suggest they respond to the Churchless Sunday by boppping Castillo up to leadoff, dropping Moiphy to third, and bumping Wright and Sheffield back.
bmfc1 Jun 28 2009 05:43 PM |
I would have done what you suggested, Edgy.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 06:13 PM |
This is stupid already.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 06:14 PM |
The stupidity in the field continues.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 06:14 PM |
fuck murphy, if you're gonna throw to 3rd you gotta get it
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 06:15 PM |
I really, really, really hat Derek Jeter.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 06:15 PM |
Jerry seems to have given them a pep talk before the series encouraging them to press and try to do too much.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 06:17 PM |
I'm not going to be able to take much of this.
Ashie62 Jun 28 2009 06:18 PM |
shitfuck....
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 06:18 PM |
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 06:18 PM |
Drill this fucking punk in the cunt.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 06:20 PM |
Triple play here turns the whole season around.
Ashie62 Jun 28 2009 06:21 PM |
cant even watch peacefully for 20 minutes
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 06:22 PM |
The stupidity in the booth continues on ESPN.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 06:22 PM |
double play if Muffy could catch. fuck this sorry team
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 06:22 PM |
they took the worst broadcast ever and added steve phillips, its painful.
Ashie62 Jun 28 2009 06:24 PM |
Somebody waterboard Phillips and Morgan
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 06:24 PM |
I think Dante's twelfth circle of hell was watching the Yanqs blast the Mets with Morgan, Miller, and Stevie in the booth.
seawolf17 Jun 28 2009 06:25 PM |
Just got a chance to sit down for the night, and I get this. Maybe I'll just check the score in the morning.

Bullet of Cool
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 06:25 PM |
I think I'm going to enjoy Fernando's work in the outfield. Next year.
themetfairy Jun 28 2009 06:26 PM |
This is just fugly.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 06:27 PM |
It's cool. It just took six outs, that's all.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 06:28 PM |
Morgan thinks most batters averages are better with the bases empty, except the "great rbi men"
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 06:28 PM |
Now, to eat some Wang.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 06:30 PM |
Everybody takes a strikie until I say so.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 06:31 PM |
Wang sucks. I wonder if a lineup of minor leaguers is what he needs to get himself right.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 06:32 PM |
Reyes taking some infield and batting practice. Huh. I saw on the ticker during a soccer game that he won't be back until after the ASB. But shouldn't the break be like next week or something?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 06:36 PM |
Nice camerawork on the Sheff single. Hats off to ESPN.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 06:39 PM |
Wang is going to right himself tonight against these clowns. Tatis just went hacking at a 2-0 pitch and popped up to right
bmfc1 Jun 28 2009 06:42 PM |
Why would Jerry replace Church w/Tatis rather than Reed? Tatis isn't hitting and he's a poor fielder, as shown by his fumbling the ball in the first. At least Reed can field.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 06:44 PM |
Perhaps we can trade Livan to a contender.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 06:45 PM |
I'll take it now.
themetfairy Jun 28 2009 06:45 PM |
Nice inning-ending catch by Fartinez.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 28 2009 06:45 PM |
Suck on that, Wang.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 06:46 PM |
Martinez just dove and took away what would have been a hit for Wang
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 06:49 PM |
He must not realize lefties are hitting .429 against Wang. These are not the things managers need to know.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 06:49 PM |
Well yeah but I want Beltran back.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 06:51 PM |
Gut? More seriously, he was likely looking for any hint of power he could find.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 06:53 PM |
Phillips and Morgan going on and on about the prowess of ARod, failing to mention that his entire career is now under the shadow of PED use.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 06:54 PM |
Miller getting hot and bothered describing ARod's workout routine. They failed to mention whether the HGH injection comes before or after the one hour swim.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 06:55 PM |
(high-five to Elster)
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 06:56 PM |
I've muted Dumb & Dumber on ESPN, the radio is a few seconds ahead of them but thats fine, it means i can turn around and watch the tv if it sounds like an exciting play
bmfc1 Jun 28 2009 06:58 PM |
That was a good inning: the Mets cleared the 6, 7, 8 and 9 spots.
bmfc1 Jun 28 2009 07:00 PM |
"Robin Yant"???
themetfairy Jun 28 2009 07:02 PM |
"A magnificent foul" by Nick Swisher.
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 28 2009 07:05 PM |
Mets give the MFY's two extra outs in the first inning and Wang looks like Cy Fucking Young tonight!

I hope that's not the reason since their slugging is about the same. Manuel doesn't seem to do much right sometimes. Maybe he's reading so I'll say this again: lefties are hitting .429 against Wang.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 07:06 PM |
Patches on the backs of caps look stupid.

on WFAN they just said that Perez had a good outing for Brooklyn tonight. i know its short-season A against guys who were drafted in the late rounds a couple of weeks ago but its SOMETHING, right?
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 07:10 PM |
Only Jeter with his limited range could make that look like a good play.
bmfc1 Jun 28 2009 07:15 PM |
72 pitches.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 07:21 PM |
Agreed and I said so at the top of the thread, although I'm sure Jerry would argue that where their slugging percentages sit right now doesn't really describe the relative power of Tatis and Reed.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 07:23 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 28 2009 07:35 PM |
I'm sure he would too. And he'd be wrong again.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 07:23 PM |
Third Wangiewalk, and first leadoff hitter reaching. Let's see some non-doubleplay plays.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 07:27 PM |
Tatis made a solid effort at the DP, just didn't hit it hard enough.

FERNANDO!!!!
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 07:29 PM |
Martinez should've gotten 3 bases out of that.
bmfc1 Jun 28 2009 07:30 PM |
As someone who hasn't been impressed with Fernando M., I should say that I was impressed with the opposite field power on that shot.

Some catchers tape their fingers so the pitchers can see the signs better. Posada paints his nails white. Seems about right. His wife is hot though. She must be a beard.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 07:31 PM |
Castillo with the clutch hit makes up for FMartinezs weak baserunning.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 07:31 PM |
Yabbut, for Tatis, powa is mostly a memory. Yay Mets, we rallying now.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 07:31 PM |
Castillo comes through!
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 07:31 PM |
CASTILLO!

Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 07:32 PM |
By the way... Mets freaking rule.

Castllo steals 2nd on the first pitch. screw posada's pussy arm
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 07:32 PM |
I usually don't agree with stealing with two outs and the pitcher up, but it looks like Castillo had a huge jump.

Elster88 Jun 28 2009 07:38 PM |
Melky's pop out is in the second deck at YSIII. No wonder he looks confused.

metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 07:40 PM |

John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 07:40 PM |
How about Livan?
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 07:43 PM |
agreed, the yankees crap ruins that picture
wheres the apology thread, i owe livan one.
bmfc1 Jun 28 2009 07:45 PM |
It's so important for ESPN to give us the exact same recap they gave us an hour ago that they can't give us a replay of the third strike on Murphy.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 07:47 PM |
David is SO due for a hit.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 07:53 PM |
If you're gonna walk Jeter, might as well drill him in the back and save the wear and tear in your arm.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 07:57 PM |
also, you'd be almost gauranteeing us a baserunner later on when they retaliate, because nobody hits capttain intangibles!
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 07:58 PM |
BOTH runners advance? come on martinez, you gotta get a better position and get the ball into 2nd better
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 08:01 PM |
Nice!!!!
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 08:01 PM |
haha thanks Cano!
themetfairy Jun 28 2009 08:01 PM |
Whew!
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 28 2009 08:02 PM |
Cora the pro. Is that three DPs for Cano? Who does he think he is, Tatis?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 08:02 PM |
Livan showing Johan a thing or two about testicular astronomy.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 08:02 PM |
I'm in the Cora Zone!
Gwreck Jun 28 2009 08:05 PM |
I would've hit Reed leadoff. Murphy 5th. Martinez and Tatis on the pine.
Gwreck Jun 28 2009 08:07 PM |
In fairness that was Miller. (Also makes my ears bleed).
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 08:07 PM |
Robinson Rotunda Cano with the nice GIDP. Let's Go Mets!
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 08:13 PM |
So that's what the MFY's got for their $38 million.
bmfc1 Jun 28 2009 08:14 PM |
Jerry leaves in Fernando, and that was an automatic out, instead of PHing Evans, and now he has Santos in against the righty and he can't PH Santos when Rivera comes into the game.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 08:16 PM |
Fucketyfuck.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 08:21 PM |
I didn't like the bunt either that inning.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 08:21 PM |
Nice catch by Tatis.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 08:26 PM |
Hey, I don't know if you're all aware of this, but apparently Luis Castillo dropped a fly ball recently against the Yankees.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 08:27 PM |
slightly less obvious on the radio where they said it was popped up behind second to "you know who"
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 08:29 PM |
ESPN back from commercial decides to show it. FUCK YOU
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 08:29 PM |
Oh good, video replay too. Fanfuckintastic.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 08:30 PM |
That would be a nice recap for the national audience....if it hadn't been shown about 1,000 times on ESPN and their website in the past weeks.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 08:30 PM |
I can go the rest of my life without seeing that replay again.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 08:31 PM |
the national audience probably hates mets/yankees and went to bed already
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 08:32 PM |
Leadoff walk.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 28 2009 08:32 PM |
Pinch-hitting Reyes (yay!) to bunt (double yay!).
Kong76 Jun 28 2009 08:32 PM |
Finally! Morgan mentions Joe Torre.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 08:33 PM |
OUT at 2nd on a ball bunted way too hard. why the fuck dont you let castillo steal on gimpy arm and then bunt him to 3rd??
OlerudOwned Jun 28 2009 08:33 PM |
BUUUUUUUNTS
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 08:34 PM |
Mets get kicked in the bunt.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 08:34 PM |
send Reyes. maybe they'll think its the other one and not even throw
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 28 2009 08:35 PM |
Triple yay!
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 08:36 PM |
Reyes goes, probably avoiding the doubleplay
metsguyinmichigan Jun 28 2009 08:36 PM |
Pretty feeble grounder.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 08:38 PM |
I think we're gonna have to start cheating.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 08:38 PM |
Wow that sucked!
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 08:38 PM |
Cora watches the inning end. fuck.
Rockin' Doc Jun 28 2009 08:43 PM |
I hate Jerry Manuel's love of the sac bunt. It's almost like WWSB never actually left the Mets. Let them swing the damn bats. This team does not hit well enough to be voluntarily surrendering outs.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 08:43 PM |
Oh the soft rain has commenced. All hail the Craptain.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 08:48 PM |
Just think, if Murphy had taken the free out offered by the Yankees in the first inning, then the good guys might be winning this one.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 08:56 PM |
NICE glovework by Castillo on the hot smash.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 08:56 PM |
Castillo's got that shit taken care of. can we stop walking people? i feel like oliver perez is on the mound.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 08:56 PM |
Castillo really does have a sick glove out there. He just snagged another hard grounder to end the inning.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 08:56 PM |
Well, now is the time.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 08:56 PM |
Hard to imagine where we'd be without Castillo tonight.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 28 2009 08:57 PM |
Nicely done, Luis.
Frayed Knot Jun 28 2009 08:57 PM |
I hate bitching about umps, but can we get a fucking close call to go our way before the weekend's out? Like maybe one just so I can see what it feels like.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 08:58 PM |
Holy hell. ESPN finds a way to replay the Castillo gaffe AGAIN in their "best of Interleague 2009" SportsCenter tease.
Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 09:00 PM |
Steal?
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 28 2009 09:00 PM |

Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 09:00 PM |
Wright gets a 4 pitch walk.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 09:00 PM |
Sheff'll bunt here, just watch. It's Jerryball!
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:00 PM |
Leadoff walk for Mr. Wright thanks to Brian "Next in Line" Bruney (see last night's IGT for an explanation of that nickname).
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 09:02 PM |
Jeter with a 1-handed catch. note how there is no criticism when he does it.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 09:02 PM |
send Wright now before Mr. DP ends the inning
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 09:04 PM |
nevermind the SB, its ball 4. DO SOMETHINGGGGGG
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:05 PM |
Tatis with the BB and now it's on. Mo "Electric Pool" Rivera warming up in the pen, Fartinez up in a big spot.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 09:06 PM |
Martinez is not a real Met unless he gets a hit here.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:06 PM |
Wow, am I the only one who KNEW that they'd get him to chase some high shitty pitch?
bmfc1 Jun 28 2009 09:07 PM |
OHMIGOD! HE'S HORRIBLE, and yes, he's 20.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 09:07 PM |
Martinez looks stupid again. send him down. its not that he sucks, but he's 20 years old and just not ready offensively
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:07 PM |
Here comes Mo.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 09:09 PM |
Jon Miller has every inning of Rivera's career memorized.
bmfc1 Jun 28 2009 09:09 PM |
I loved it when Jeter walked and Miller said that Jeter "coaxed' the walk, like he talked the ball into being out of the strike zone.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 28 2009 09:09 PM |
I'm trying to visualize success.

Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:18 PM |

Frayed Knot Jun 28 2009 09:19 PM |

John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2009 09:20 PM |
What do you say we fire Jerry just to make someone pay.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:24 PM |
Well, sure, they're scrappy. But they suck.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 09:26 PM |
Wait they're on ESPN again tomorrow? This is cruel and unusual. Are they on SNY too?
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 28 2009 09:27 PM |
You'd think with these three genuises in the booth, we'd all be a little bit smarter by the 9th inning. No chance. I'm just a lot more aggrevated.
Frayed Knot Jun 28 2009 09:27 PM |
Yes. Only Sunday night is an exclusive deal. In fact, it'll most likely be blacked out on ESPN stations in the NYC area.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 28 2009 09:29 PM |
9 walks tonight. (1 more, and we get a free sub!)
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:29 PM |
Ugh. They continue to call him "K-Rod."
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 09:30 PM |
Good switch there by Jerry. Perhaps Gary doesn't get that ball.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:31 PM |

Is this the last time anyone ever bats wearing #42 again in a MLB game, short of on the day when everyone wears it?
metirish Jun 28 2009 09:36 PM |
Can't take this anymore

metirish Jun 28 2009 09:39 PM |
The dick gets his first career RBI and he'll get his 500 save too.....I can't believe what I am seeing
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:39 PM |
This is why Steve Phillips loves interleague play.
Frayed Knot Jun 28 2009 09:40 PM |
I usually don't root for injuries, but I was hoping Mariano would pull something on one of his swings so so we could hear Hank-enstein bitch about interleague play again.
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 09:41 PM |
I forgot about that pop-up way back when. How many legitimate runs did the Yanqs score today.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 09:41 PM |
strike 3 on the check swing might have been a gift, but who cares its over
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 28 2009 09:41 PM |
One batter too late! Fuck.
themetfairy Jun 28 2009 09:41 PM |
The fucking inning is finally over.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:41 PM |
Teixeira makes his cumsies face as the 3rd base ump rings him up on the check swing.
Nymr83 Jun 28 2009 09:41 PM |

0.
Frayed Knot Jun 28 2009 09:42 PM |
Maybe one - although they'll all go down as earned.
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 28 2009 09:45 PM |
It's always something. Tonight, more buffoonery in the field. All contributing to the four damn runs. Oh yeah, 11 walks, too.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 28 2009 09:45 PM |
I'd go 1. We've been exceedingly generous neighbors tonight, both offensively and defensively.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:46 PM |
ESPN highlighting the fact that nearly every Met hitter has an OPS 40 points or more below the NL average.
metirish Jun 28 2009 09:47 PM |
Lucky for us the division sucks
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 28 2009 09:47 PM |
That was off the plate, dick.

Yabbut, losing like this all weekend to these fuckholes sucks more.
Rockin' Doc Jun 28 2009 09:48 PM |
I had to turn the damn game off after the walk to Rivera. I just couldn't take hearing the Yankee fans chanting, "Let's go Yankees" in our house.
Frayed Knot Jun 28 2009 09:48 PM |
You'll have to forgive ESPN, they just discovered what OPS is last week so they're playing with it like it's a new toy.
Fman99 Jun 28 2009 09:49 PM |
Oh, let the lovefest commence. I am going to bed.
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 28 2009 09:50 PM |
It's Rivera's 500th save and the Mets drop to .500.
Ashie62 Jun 28 2009 09:51 PM |
Jerry can't use the 'we're playing good baseball" line..a fucking disgrace all around..Murphy, Tatis, Kblow Wright
Ashie62 Jun 28 2009 09:53 PM |
Rid us of Jerry before the wheels completely fall off.. PITCHES TO JETER..WHAT A FUKTARD
Elster88 Jun 28 2009 09:53 PM |
It's funny. AshieLarry's ridiculous comments actually cheer me up.
PiggiesTomatoes Jun 28 2009 09:54 PM |
If he had any balls, Jerry'd say "We blow and if we don't pick up all aspects of our performance, we shouldn't expect to win."
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 28 2009 10:00 PM |

Same here.

John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 29 2009 06:29 PM |
There's a surprise: The Mets didn't execute properly.
Nymr83 Jun 29 2009 06:32 PM |
it makes sense because perhaps with Rivera on deck Jeter would be ordered (or think for himself) to try and hit pitches out of the zone because you'd rather try and hit a single on a pitch off the plate than have Rivera come up.
