It's actually the most sensible lineup I've seen top-to-bottom in a while.

Church and Martinez are the only lefties, so there was commitment to benching Reyes today.

I see us winning by at least seven.

Why a 7:05 start last night and an 8:05 start tonight? Is Milwaukee multi-time zone sensative?

bmfc1
Jun 30 2009 05:14 PM

Last night's game was moved up an hour for ESPN.

Home... run?

Wright-Centerfield.

Brilliant.

Jun 30 2009 06:16 PM

It was laying off those sliders away that set that shit up.

Magee Hickey kept that inning from spiraling away from the Brews.

Same for us in the bottom of the inning.

(It's like he's his own inverse-- boot a bunny, hit a slam; make a glove save, go down harmlessly later.)

I see 5 groundouts in the first two innings, and I'm thinking about Joel Pineiro, and I'm real glad David laid off those sliders.

Yeah, do that shit, Mike Marshall.

Kong76
Jun 30 2009 06:43 PM

Did Mike Marshall flash diving leather like that?

Edgy DC
Jun 30 2009 06:53 PM

Mike Marshall was two teaaspoons removed from Dick Stuart and one removed from Dave Kingman.

No, he didn't flash leather like that.

Meanwhile, any day with a reference to Bernie from Room 222 is good.

Funny, I was just going to post that they showed TransMonk in a Brewers

Johan's fastball is getting spanked so hard in the third, it's like a Masons hazing ritual.

Also, the third-base coach remembered the "send" sign. The lead is halved.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr
Jun 30 2009 06:56 PM
Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 30 2009 07:03 PM

The junk, however, appears to work fine.

Johan works out of trouble-- how many times has someone written that this year?-- to get Fielder and McGehee, and verges on getting out of the third relatively unscathed.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

Shit call on ball 4 to Kablammeron.

Pop ups make great toilet paper.

Still, Johan's over 80 pitches after three. It's all a bit worrisome.

Mets picking up on some suspicious behavior in the booth.

Probably nothing, but I'd ask to dress him down, anyhow.

Don't mind getting beat by Ryan Braun; he's a good hitter.

Drives me crazy though that we are consistently unable to make proper relay throws. Good throw by Cora gets Hardy at the plate I think.

Tatis.

DP.

Um, bad?

PiggiesTomatoes
Jun 30 2009 07:49 PM

Bad News Fucking Bears. That's the most frustrating part of this slide and frankly even going back to Willie as manager -- horrible fundimentals. In the field, on the basepaths, in the batter's box and from the mound.

Too many runners thrown out on base, walks by pitchers, dropped balls, pitchers and fielders falling over (maybe there's some balance training for Pelfrey, Castillo and Fartinez), throws to the wrong base allowing runners to take extra bases, weak fucking pop outs, inability to move runners over.

Worst of all is an apparent lack of fight and emotion. That shit ain't gangsta; that's weak and a reflection on the manager.

It's a team without character and -- it seems -- without chemistry. No fucking swagger. Although swagger has some relation to play and with the way these boobs are playing, swagger would be slightly comical.

Notwithstanding tonight's homerun, Wright has been a disappointment. Is it possible to hit a more quiet .340? With everyone hurt, he's had a perfect opportunity to step up and lead and it just hasn't happened.

We know about the injuries and you can't do anything about that (probably) but the sloppy, uninspired play is fucking embarrassing.

bmfc1
Jun 30 2009 07:51 PM

They look like they are psyched out by the home plate umpire.

Kong76
Jun 30 2009 07:52 PM

I'm glad I can't read into everything like that ... I'd be even nuttier.

Gwreck
Jun 30 2009 07:55 PM

I'm sorry, David's "quiet" .340 is not something we can complain about. Is there anyone getting more hits in the league? Nope. He can't put the people on base ahead of him to drive in.

As for the fundamentals? It's a HUGE problem, and I don't understand why Jerry isn't being called on the carpet more for this. He, Razor Shines and Sandy Alomar are doing a piss poor job of making sure the Mets play solid defensive baseball. It's just terrible.

PiggiesTomatoes
Jun 30 2009 07:56 PM

Braun should get fucking drilled. Saw the clip again of him scoring with the helmet in had. Dick!

Swan Swan H
Jun 30 2009 07:58 PM

Not my first choice, but making Braun look bad on a change-up works.

metsguyinmichigan
Jun 30 2009 07:59 PM

I don't think you can complain about Wright. He's all by himself in that lineup. Probably hasn't seen a decent pitch to hit since Beltran went down.

I fear this is on the verge of being a lost season.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jun 30 2009 08:00 PM

]We know about the injuries and you can't do anything about that (probably) but the sloppy, uninspired play is fucking embarrassing.

I agree with that much. We can do without swagger or chemistry or even a more productive Wright (I'm ain't complaining too much about Wright, he's having a weird year) but if we catch the ball a little more often and stop getting out-executed so much we might be inspiring and fun.

Fire all of the assistant coaches. Worked in 1999.

Another out by Martinez. I hope he noticed that the other CF stayed on his two feet and caught the ball. Jerry plays him everyday while Reed, certainly better right now, sits on the bench. And yes, I know he's 20 but I don't give a flyin' frig.
