METS:

sharpie Jul 05 2009 09:21 AM |
Glad Reed is getting a start, he seems to have been buried on a team that is short-handed.

Tweet from Dave Lennon this morning: lenno212Manuel said he's had 1 July 4 BBQ in the past 25 years. But laughed, "I might be BBQ'ing at this time next year."#mets

bm: at least act like you give a crap. Act like you care as much as the fans <<<
Kong76 Jul 05 2009 10:47 AM |
Got a tweet from Fischneritz, confirms that Jerry does indeed care.
SteveJRogers Jul 05 2009 10:59 AM |
Is that a reference to something or someone, or did you just make up a silly sounding twitter account name?
bmfc1 Jul 05 2009 10:59 AM |
I'm sure he cares but the daily yuck-fest is pathetic. I'm not suggesting that he turn over tables but I don't like the daily joking around.
Kong76 Jul 05 2009 11:27 AM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jul 05 2009 11:33 AM |
It was an accidental/subliminal reference to something, I can't post what, Steve.
Kong76 Jul 05 2009 11:29 AM |
And I don't mean to take it out on you, you got me going with the care as much
bmfc1 Jul 05 2009 11:34 AM |
I understand Kong but listening to Jerry day-after-day making a joke after each loss has worn thin. I don't mind a sense of humor but there's a time and a place and after the poor play, I don't think that this is the time.

metirish Jul 05 2009 11:39 AM |
Jerry though has always been like this , always with the funny remark. It works better when the team is winning though.

Congrats to Wright and Beltran!

OlerudOwned Jul 05 2009 11:43 AM |
Was sort of hoping that the insane Wimbledon final would just keep going long enough for me to not have to watch this.
OlerudOwned Jul 05 2009 11:44 AM |
Lead off homer for Rollins, right as my pessimistic other post was going up. Oy vey.
Gwreck Jul 05 2009 11:48 AM |
Also Santana and Rodriguez, who were voted in by the players.

Might have been the most enjoyable final I have watched since Edberg beat Becker in a thriller in 1990.
Nymr83 Jul 05 2009 12:25 PM |
the linedrive doubleplay has become a Mets specialty

Had to leave for dimsum brunch midway through the fourth set; came back after a LONG meal, and it was just halfway through the fifth. I feel kinda terrible for Roddick, who played about as smart a fortnight as he ever has (I've never seen him USE his second serves as well)... and ended up running into the best player of all time, who just barely outlasted him. He looked throughout the trophy presentation like he'd just seen his parents doing it on Centre Court. I remember catching Edberg-Becker as a kid, too. But last year's was pretty decent as well.

mario25 only shows up around here when the Mets are playing badly. Why are the Phils wearing the Cubs' batting helmets?
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jul 05 2009 12:35 PM |
Jesus, I don't remember Rapuano ever getting this squeezy on all sides of the strike zone. (And against Johan, no less. It's weird.)
Benjamin Grimm Jul 05 2009 12:38 PM |
It's all so confusing, with the Mets wearing red caps and the Phillies wearing blue batting helmets. I'm only casually paying attention, and whenever I look up at the TV screen, I think the Mets, when they're in the field, are the Phillies.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jul 05 2009 12:44 PM |
Since when has Sam Perlozzo been Philly's third-base coach?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 05 2009 12:49 PM |
How will this rally fall short?
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jul 05 2009 12:51 PM |
After the leadoff walk to Castillo (7-14 lifetime against Blanton... and batting 8th)Johan squirts a funt past a diving Blanton and non-diving Howard.

John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 05 2009 12:54 PM |
YOUR MOVE, CREEP
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 05 2009 12:55 PM |
Muffy walks, keeping the DP option alive but eliminating back-to-back strikeouts.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jul 05 2009 12:56 PM |
Who just worked out a 12-pitch walk?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 05 2009 12:57 PM |

I really thought by saying this I was putting the antiwhammy on. The Mets are making me suck too.
metirish Jul 05 2009 12:57 PM |
"Double Play David" to the Phillies rescue.
Nymr83 Jul 05 2009 12:57 PM |
FUCK
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jul 05 2009 12:58 PM |
We could have really used a strikeout there.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 05 2009 12:59 PM |
This team is just miserable to watch. All the fun from Thursday afternoon's win seems like it was a month ago.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 05 2009 01:03 PM |
Muffy shoulda stepped on his back.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 05 2009 01:05 PM |
Santana hurt on another 0-2 pitch.

Mistakes up will do that to you. (Two months ago, those mistakes were bouncing or otherwise unhittable.)
metirish Jul 05 2009 01:29 PM |
Officer Joe Blanton in total command today.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 05 2009 01:32 PM |
Infield single, strikeout, HBP: Rally in the 8th!
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jul 05 2009 01:34 PM |
"Who's up next? Murphy? Hmm."
Nymr83 Jul 05 2009 01:36 PM |
Park vs. Tatis! the bases should be loaded
Nymr83 Jul 05 2009 01:36 PM |
TATIS IS THE KING OF DOUBLEPLAYS
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 05 2009 01:37 PM |
um, wow.
metirish Jul 05 2009 01:37 PM |
It seems to not matter who goes up to bat , a double play will be the outcome.
Edgy DC Jul 05 2009 01:53 PM |
Shoud, I guess, have given Wright a day off. The whole series turned out to be as good as a weekend off for him.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 05 2009 01:58 PM |
Absolutely humiliating.
Kong76 Jul 05 2009 02:12 PM |
I hate to say it before the all-star break, but this season is o.v.e.r.
SteveJRogers Jul 05 2009 02:56 PM |
I'm inching towards that Kase. It has gotten to the point though where the only thing to look forward to the rest of the way is the 40th Anniversary of the 1969 World Champs in August.
Nymr83 Jul 05 2009 03:16 PM |
the Mets have made it feel like they were DONE for the last month, but they're still only 4 back. its pretty clear that Jerry Manuel, after looking good last year, is a terrible in-game decision maker, i'd be all for firing him and his entire staff.
Edgy DC Jul 05 2009 03:33 PM |
Plus five key players due off the DL in the second half. Six if you count Wagner.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 05 2009 03:55 PM |
The SHaMs are coming.
Kong76 Jul 05 2009 03:59 PM |
SJJ: I'm inching towards that Kase <<<

Ooh, yeah, my season debut in DC. That sucked. Definitely a candidate for the list.
Kong76 Jul 05 2009 04:45 PM |
And let's not forget inning ending double plays. Jerry, 24/7.
