Post Mortem: Phillie Series

I don't know what makes the lack of extra-base hits more glaring --- the fact that they all came in one inning or that our inability to otherwise register any came in a park where they are notoriously cheap to come by.

And the opposing starting pitchers were (at least in the first two games) guys we could have reasonably expected to suck.

I knew it was a lost weekend but seeing the numbers there all neat like hammers it home . Even when the Mets had some hard hit balls the Phillies made some great defensive plays like Howard's or the hard hit balls were hit right at the defensive player.

Pedro Feliz was a vacuum.

I think the loss of Beltran was just the last straw for our guys. They seemed to be hanging tough until then.

No Beltran definitely hurts.

Feliz is almost always a vacuum. I never realized exactly how good he was until I got reserved seats on the 3rd-base side at CBP-- he's constantly adjusting his position on hitters even during an at-bat. He's never out of position on right-handed hitters (turning smashes by Sheffield and Wright into routine grounders), and only ever seems to get beaten down the line on fluky flares by lefties.
