We really ought to keep our hopes up - we've beaten top pitchers before this season. We bludgeoned Jake Peavy earlier this year.

seawolf17
Sep 08 2005 07:24 PM

I think we beat Steve Carlton once also.

Sep 08 2005 07:25 PM

Are the Mets losing yet?

KC
Sep 08 2005 07:31 PM

They have to get a lead first, before they lose.

seawolf17
Sep 08 2005 07:33 PM

Tony LaRussa said he'd spot them three runs tonight if Willie promised to start Cairo at second, Diaz in right, and let Looper pitch the ninth.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 07:39 PM

We've got one sure-fire run then.

Zvon
Sep 08 2005 08:15 PM

Reyes singles and is caught stealing.

Thats the way its goin for us.

Zvon
Sep 08 2005 08:17 PM

Then Matsui singles and Beltran wiffs.
UGH.

Beltran is pressing.
Him trying to steal 3rd last night is a prime example.
He took that upon himself thinking he has to do something to help.
Some help that was.
Floyd didnt even move up behind him.
Thats bad baseball.

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 08 2005 08:23 PM

5 batters, 3 runners, 0 runs.

Zvon
Sep 08 2005 08:24 PM

Matsui moves up on WP.
Floydwalk with 1st base open.
Wright Ks.

3 baserunners in the 1st, no runs.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 08:24 PM

Why aren't we winning?

We're getting caught stealing. That's it.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 08:27 PM

Leadoff man gets on.

Oh boy...

TheOldMole
Sep 08 2005 08:32 PM

I do feel better with Matsui starting at second.

I mean, relative to as good as one can feel these days, which is...eh...

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 08:36 PM

Benson works out of it.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 08:39 PM

Ok, we went down WAY too quickly.

It was bad baseball, but I think it was also the first time he got caught trying to steal third in two years.

I don't believe in focus. He was probably focused every time all year long equally as much as he is now. Just happens to be hot now. Or hotter, at least.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 08:55 PM

Goddammit. The Littlest Molina Brother leads off with a double.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 09:00 PM

3-4-5 coming up.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 09:02 PM

Beltran, swinging too early as usual.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 09:10 PM

Benson's allowed the leadoff man in 3 of 4 innings. That's not how you win ballgames.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 09:12 PM

DAMMIT BENSON!!! Stop letting people on base with nobody out!!!!

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 09:19 PM

We ought to pick up Mr. Taguchi. Then we'd have Jae Seo and So Taguchi on the same team.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 09:22 PM

That was the luckiest break EVER.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 09:24 PM

Come on, Manker...

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 09:38 PM

Where is everybody? Why am I the only poster on this page?

Zvon
Sep 08 2005 09:38 PM

Pitcher -----IP --PC --H --ER --BB--- K
Benson --5.0 --73 ----3 --0 -----2 ---4

Edgy DC
Sep 08 2005 09:42 PM

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 09:43 PM

Pujols jacks one.

Zvon
Sep 08 2005 09:47 PM

Bret Sabermetric
Sep 08 2005 09:48 PM

And now Taguchi hits a 3-1 cripple pitch to drive another run.

Bret Sabermetric
Sep 08 2005 10:09 PM

Poo-holes yanks ANOTHER one out, 3-0.

Zvon
Sep 08 2005 10:11 PM

Pojols pumps out another.

Bret Sabermetric
Sep 08 2005 10:13 PM

KazMat boots another. Better withdraw that Gold Glove nominatrion now.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 10:13 PM

Dammit Matsui!!!!!!

Edgy DC
Sep 08 2005 10:15 PM

ScarletKnight41
Sep 08 2005 10:17 PM

This is not a Hooray for Hamulack night :(

Zvon
Sep 08 2005 10:18 PM

pinch hit homer off Hammy.

Proves another old addage,: errors kill!

Try as you might Bret, we cant feel any worse.

KC
Sep 08 2005 10:22 PM

>>>we cant feel any worse.<<<

I really don't feel that bad. I mean, this road trip had road trip from hell
written all over it. The only hope was they'd stay close and get home
for one more run at it.

Zvon

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 10:38 PM

Zambrano out of the pen. Priceless.

KC
Sep 08 2005 10:40 PM

Wouldn't it be funny if Kazbrano turned out to be the next Mets' stopper?

Zvon
Sep 08 2005 10:42 PM

Valadius wrote:

KC wrote:

I would not mind that at all.
Id rather see my grandmother out there next save sitch as opposed to Looper.
Anyone but Looper.
How can a guy have 28 saves and still suck?
I dunno.
Ill have to ask Looper.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 10:45 PM

Q: When's the last time Kaz homered?

A: May 17, vs. Cincinnati.

Zvon
Sep 08 2005 10:49 PM

Beltran has 2 hits, both singles.

i guess thats..something.....2 singles

Sep 08 2005 10:53 PM

Floyds makin King throw some pitches....i like.....he strikes out,...I dont like.

Valadius
Sep 08 2005 10:55 PM

We weren't going to beat Carpenter anyway.

Zvon
Sep 08 2005 10:58 PM

probly not, but we certainly had a chance.
Until I jinxed Benson by bringing up his pitch line.

tonight,I take the blame.
Ill take a lil a the heat off Looper.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 08 2005 11:03 PM

We lost again. Well, there's a surprise.

The Mets didn't even get their customary 2 runs tonight. Must be saving up for an offensive outburst tomorrow.

Rotblatt
Sep 08 2005 11:29 PM

Well, The Plan is now dead. That didn't take long. I'm sad we can't even do pain right anymore. I mean, there's pretty much no way we can even make it look like a race now, which means the real pain is over.

I'm glad I missed this game. I caught the tail end of the Yankees game passing by a bar, and thought "Oh, good! The Yankees are losing! Maybe it'll be triple happiness tonight!"

So pretty much my bad, guys. Sorry about that.

Zvon
Sep 09 2005 12:14 AM

Just saw the highlights.

Pojols takes a curtain call?
wassupWidDat?

shudda plunked him next time up and had the whole Mets team bow to the crowd.

hehawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
