In the Red Sox game tonight, Gabe Kapler blew out his Achilles tendon rounding the bases on a Tony Graffanino home run, and had to be replaced in mid-trot by a pinch runner. The PR was Alejandro Machado, who scored his first major league run. Kapler will miss the rest of the year due to the injury.

Weird.

Rule 5.10 (1) -- If an accident to a runner is such as to prevent him from proceeding to a base to which he is entitled, as on a home run hit out of the playing field, or an award of one or more bases, a substitute runner shall be permitted to complete the play.

I heard Clemens mother died of a fastball to the side of the head. Is that true?

JD - "I heard Clemens mother died of a fastball to the side of the head. Is that true?"

Man, that's cold.

Even an ass like Clemens deserves empathy over the death of his mother.

Clemens pitched with a lot of heart. Houston blew it open late.

I don't know why, but I don't hate Roger as much as I used too. I actually want to see him succeed in October.

Actually, Oakland won the first game of that series.
