It's now up to Jacobs to drive him in with 1 out.

Zvon
Sep 18 2005 01:38 PM

Seaver mentioned early in this season how the Mets robbed Wright of the possibility of ROY with his late call up last season.

And its true.

If that didnt happen, no one would be talkin about Francouer gettin the award cuz Wright would have it all locked up.

Jacobs walks too. Bases loaded. A hit here would help with that problem of no closer.

Hernandez has looked poor with the bat so far.

I'm shocked. I heard on M&MD that Glavine can't pitch against the Braves.

You know, I'm wondering if 10 million for a season of Glavine next year isn't such a bad deal.

Knock on wood.

2 outta 3 against the Braves is nice. Too bad we're not in a race :-(

Great game.

Good to finally see Hernandez in person! Looked like he was running hard after everything (did you see how he kept ranging far out into RF on popups?) and clearly has some wheels.

Hope he keeps starting over the rest of the season!

And how about Glavine? He looked good today and got squeezed on some outside pitches but didn't let it bother him.

If we can play like we have the past three games (minus a few errors, hopefully), we might even finish the year at .500.

At the beginning of the year, I'd have taken that.

if anything, i would think tryin to get to 300 wins would keep him going and focused over next season. With his stuff, he should be able to get there if he can put together a more consistant level of output.

I hope, if he has 'refound' himself, that he dont lose what he's found. last yr he went on a good run around the AS break, then back to mediocore.

He'll need at least 2 more seasons of 14 wins each to reach 300.
Itll be a task. But I wish him well, and hope he does it as a successful Met starter.

Ditto, but add the word expected.
I expect them to be .500 or better with additions like Martinez and Beltran.

And Floyd has picked up Beltrans slack, so i still expect it.

If they dont make that platue, I will be disappointed in Will,Will,Will,Willie and the Mets

Edgy DC
Sep 18 2005 04:11 PM

An optimist might give him some slack there as he hit his slide after smashing his face in a taxicab accident.

truDat.
I forgot that and stand corrected.
Lost some teeth......

I just hope he harnesses or bottles what he has rediscovered with his own stuff.
He could still be a valuable asset for the Mets next season,....maybe next 2 if he stays in his own groove

2 tho? I dunno---hes gonna be 40, right?

Well, if his ball moves and he can change up speeds and hit corners and expand that plate, he may just squeeze in 2 more seasons as a starter

I don't think that a lack of motivation or focus has been a problem for Glavine at any point.

Today was Mets Fan Club for Kids Day at Shea. I took MK by myself, because D-Dad is over at the Jets home opener (last year he skipped the home opener for the Kids Club event, and I couldn't make him do that two years in a row). We took NJ Transit to Penn, then the Number 1 to Times Square and the Number 7 the rest of the way (thanks to everyone who gave me advice about the route!). When we came in, not only did we get our WWSB bobbleheads, but MK was given a MEts three ring binder, a Mets notebook, and a Mets paddleball set - nice! MK was on the field for the anthem, Nathan's hot dogs and sodas in the picnic area were $2 apiece, and we saw a great game. Afterwards, MK ran the DynaMets Dash -

On the ride home people noticed our jerseys, and MK proudly told everyone he saw the Mets win.

BTW, I was in the minority in the 9th inning - I thought that this was a spot for your closer, and if you are going to keep him on the roster then you have to pitch him in this spot. Then I saw Danny Graves come out of the bullpen, but fortunately he was just playing catch with VD. In the end, everyone was relieved that Glavine finished the game for himself!

It was a great day to take a kid to Shea :)
