OK, now that we've established his limits, be more careful with him next year.

Alarming-- how do these stack up with his numbers in years past?
|

he has to make his next start....after that we'll see, if we look even deader than we are now theres no reason throw him out there anymore and add to his workload.

Bummer. I thought he'd adopted a puppy.

He wrenched his foot in May. Hence the dropping K-rate - he hasn't had a fastball for months, and it's probably gotten progressively more painful. He's kicked ass for most of the season, but between the foot and the fact he's just exhausted - remember, he's pitched into November the past two years, shutting him down wouldn't be a bad idea. Give him a break, let him go home and prepare for '06.

The man's tired and hurting. That's perfectly understandable.

Considering he's been carrying an entire team on his right arm all season, that's certainly understandable.

Petey's not right and we should if not bench him give him extra rest as much as possible.

I started this thread, but I'm kind of shocked at all the doctor-playing.

Edge, he's not the same pitcher he was at the beginning of the season. He's working at around 84 mph, only getting it to the upper 80's in tight spots. At the same time, he's allowing more base runners both in terms of hits and walks.

And as I type, he blows a 92-mph fastball by Rodriguez to get the third out.

Actually, that was Taguchi.

oops.

We're advocating an awesome amount of rest.

He'll finish with over 200 K's.

This is silly. Who cares if he pitches better on more rest or on less? The point here is to shut him down for the remainder of the season. I doubt the two extra weeks rest will make much a difference on Opening Day 2006.

I don't follow. Those last two sentences seem to contradict one another.

Hmmm...you're right.
