Help a brother out

Johnny Dickshot

Still trying to get my Met stuff organized, and wonder if anyone out there can help.

1971 Yearbook: Do you have one? If so there's a photo of Dean Chance and Tom Seaver on page 20. Can you tell by viewing that pic when or where the photo was taken? Can you scan it and send it to me or post it here?

1980: Looking for a scorecard/roster -- later in the year the better. Scan, post, send.

1985: Same thing, need a scanned scorecard and the approximate date. Early in the year beats later in the year.

Thanks for your help in the pursuit of worthless information.

I'm pretty sure I have a 1985 scorecard, but not here. It's in storage in my grandmother's basement. If you don't have one by next time we go out there, I'll see what I can find.

The picture of Seaver and Chance is on P. 18. D-Dad is out right now. If you still need it scanned later, let me know and I'll have him help me do it. The picture appears to have been taken in a locker room, and it was during Chance's tenure as a Met, but I can't tell you anything more than that.

I don't seem to have a 1980 scorecard.

I have one from 1985, with Ron Darling on the cover (damn - that man was gorgeous!). It was from a Mets/Padres game - I don't have the exact date, but there is a Met Memos: August 23-25 page and that coincides with the Padres being in town.

Pitchers -
38 Rick Aguilera
31 Bruce Berenyi
12 Ron Darling
50 Sid Fernandez
45 Brent Graff
16 Dwight Gooden
29 Tom Gorman
26 Terry Leach
36 Ed Lynch
42 Roger McDowell
47 Jesse Orosco
39 Doug Sisk

Catchers -
8 Gary Carter
13 Clint Hurdle
9 Ronn Reynolds

Infielders
6 Wally Backman
11 Kelvin Chapman
19 Ron Gardenhire
17 Keith Hernandez
20 Howard Johnson
22 Ray Knight
3 Rafael Santana

Outfielders
7 John Christensen
4 Lenny Dykstra
15 George Foster
25 Danny Heep
10 Rusty Staub
18 Darryl Strawberry
1 Mookie Wilson

She caught Ronn Reynolds and Brent Gaff with the same blunderbuss. That's got to be worth something.

Hail the superfluous double consonant Mets.

Also, I have an April 1985 scorecard from "K Day"--that's when they were handing out free K cards with a picture of Dwight Gooden on the back. I'll have to dig it up though.

Wham. Thanks Lundy you rock.

Clearly we're in the home locker room.

Chance keeping Swannie's uniform warm.

It could be at Shea or St. Pete, though. Those were the days before special spring-training uniforms.

I don't think there are any late 1980 scorecard rosters. They stunk, either
they didn't print them or no one kept them.

I can do an '85 search tomorrow night, I'm getting a deja vu thing here though.

I got one for May 11, 1985.
The Mets won 4-0, but the date will be remembered as Darryl Strawberry in this game broke his thumb while sliding for a ball and was out for six weeks.

Thirteen Ks!

Check out number 19.

I didn't recall Pat Zachry as a member of the Phillies. Turns out he had just 3 innings left in his career.

It could be St. Petersburg. The lockers don't look particularly great, but Chance is wearing long sleeves to his wrists, for what it's worth.

Was Chance in spring training the next season?

So?

Chance lasted nearly all of ST before being traded to Detroit. He was only a Shea-based Met for 2 days. That's why I ask.

It's just funny.

Poor Ron could never get off the DL that year. He'd get activated and then injured again two games later. He'd get a "day-to-day" report initially and be out for months.

While we're at it I need as much info as possible on 1966.

Like, if somebody made a documentary of that September and didn't do any editing. No really, saw a September scorecard on eBay recently and it only added more confusion regarding the overlapping stints of Darrell Sutherland and Dick Rusteck:

Number 43:
Sutherland (April 15 to May 11)
Rusteck (June 9-July 16)
Sutherland (September 1-Oct. 2)

BUT:

* Sutherland also served from June 30-Aug. 12 (in 45 -- Rusteck and Sutherland overlap for 2 weeks. Interestingly enough, Tug McGraw wears 45 before AND after Sutherland that year)

* Rusteck served again from Sept. 1-Oct.2 (the 9/66 roster lists Sutherland in 43; and does't include Rusteck at all).

* Adding to confusion, undated/unidenifiably placed photos of Rusteck in Mets unis show him wearing No. 40 and 49 -- both would have been available, but they could have come from any number of Spring Trainings).

I need video!

Don't know if this helps, but this roster was included in the scorecard from a game on July 2, 1966 (my dad was at this game, twas before my time)

Boyer --- making it to July as our top hitter.
