My job as a parent is done.

My daughter at 18months is brainwashed before she can realize just how sorry an organization we root for.

It happened this way; a couple of weeks ago we were at a restaurant where they had a large screen TV showing the game in which the Mets nearly blew a large lead, going on to beat Washington 9-8.

Rachel watched the game, with delighted cries of "baseball" and "Muss" (which translates to Mets.)

She doesn't see games at home very much, because we hardly watch any TV with her, but two days ago I was in fact watching and she immediately said, without prompting, "baseball". My wife asked her "what team do we watch?" and Rachel replied with authority, "Muss". This is two weeks since she had seen the Mets on TV, with no intervening discussion.

The other day, as I watched a bit of the game, she came into the living room and seeing the game on gave delighted cries of "Muss, baseball" eventually going to get her little toy baseball to throw at the screen. I should add that she throws overhand with both right and left hands and that the ball carries at least 5 to 6 feet. Also, if you throw the ball just right, she can catch it by putting out her arms and then bringing them up to her chest as the ball hits them.

After a little coaching, she now says "Muss, Yaaayyy" and when we ask what she thinks of the Yankees, she says "Akees, Boo!"

I can now relax, assured that she is on the correct path in life.

Sound of several people trying to avoid an inappropriate response.
