But I love this game! I look forward to it all year, and a little Jeter love isn't gonna ruin it.

They give these TV producers too many toys to play with.

Those hand-held cameras were at a ridiculous (like knee-high) angle for the AL All-Stars which was great if the purpose was to see up their nostrils.

And then we never really saw Obama's pitch because they insisted on shooting it with the hand-held from the 3rd base side of the mound. They got their close-up but lost the throw in the process. I think it reached Pujols but I'll have to take someone's word for it.

How many more years of this shit before somebody wakes up and says Ramirez, Utley, Wright, Pujols, Braun -- aren't they the best players at their position in the league? So maybe I don't take them out for substitutes as soon as possible?

I'd have given it to Granderson, I guess.

I think maybe minds will change once the homefield advantage comes into play. When's the last time a World Series went more than 5 games? 2003?

All this means is that when the Mets sweep the Series, they'll win it at Citi Field.

Is it me, or is FOX overdosing on the Obama thing? It's not like the president doesn't throw out the first pitch at games from time-to-time. It's been a part of almost every interview.

It's not like FOX has a history of a pro-Obama agenda.

For someone who loves the presidency as much as he loves baseball, I thought you might enjoy the saturation coverage.

Loved the White Sox jacket. Not the Cardinals, not an All-Star logo. Stay true to your school.

Costas did one-on-one with Prez that aired on MLB Network after the game. Brilliant stuff. Learned that when in HS, Obama's HS team played basketball vs. the Reds when they came to Hawaii for Superteams competition. (Johnny Bench: nice guy, but they played to win.)

I think I would have considered that the high point of my career and coasted from there. But that's what separates the politicians/overachievers from the rest of us.

I'm sure he could have borrowed a Cardinals jacket from Hillary if he'd wanted one, she still has all 30 teams from her campaign.

you're not an Obama guy though are you?

I thought Obama was great when in the booth, I was in bed by ten and was not surprised when I checked the score that the NL lost.......sucks

This was the first time that a President has thrown out the first pitch at an All-Star Game since '76. It was very special and he should be lauded for helping us celebrate baseball.

I didn't hear him (I didn't know he'd be in the booth ahead of time and didn't care about the all-star game enough to torture myself with Joe Buck) but if he talked baseball I'd be curious hear the replay (I'm sure MLB network has nothing better to do than show the all-star game 14 times in the next 7 days)

One thing I liked about Obama in the booth was he came off like a bit of a piss taker , or a ball buster if that's your style.

I'd check youtube search as I'd not be surprised if it was up there nymer.

I don't think FOX has an Obama obsession so much as it does a celebrity obsession (just like any other prime-time network show would) and who's a better celeb to glom onto than the President?

He came across well and seemed to know his stuff - although admitted to rarely playing the game as a kid (he did spend half his childhood in Indonesia after all). Buck tried to get him to stay for an extra half-inning but 'his people' had other plans.

Oh and I wouldn't look forward to seeing MLBN play the interview anytime in the near future seeing as how they don't own the rights to it.

The funny thing about MLB.tv is that they weren't showing the broadcast but were letting me see field shots with sound between innings.

Was there a Commisioner's Award?

I hear Willie Mays wore a Giants hat. Even as a Mets fan, I can cheer hooray for that.

And then I see he wore a dumbass Giants batting practice hat. Booo!

"Hey, Willie, we're in a white void. This is not the change that we seek.
And what's with the dumbass cap?"

I think he was GREAT in the booth, and I love that the president was there to throw out the first pitch. And the Sox jacket was awesome. And you have to show him meeting the players before the game, just a cool thing to see.

I just thought it was odd that they beat it into the ground. I mean, every single interview...

Of course, given FOX sports history with these things, they probably would have asked the players about their favorite Family Guy episodes and whether they are ready for the new Cleveland Show spin-off had Obama not been there, so I guess we should be grateful.

He called him Jew-leo Franco.

During the pre-game visit to the NL locker room, microphones picked him up giving Pujols grief for letting Fielder take "his" home run title. "You let him come into your house, man?"

More scoring in the All-Star Game probably means less presidential soft rain. Grover Cleveland and Benjamin Harrison would have gotten big play last night considering the paucity of offense.

Willie has some strange attachment to batting practice caps. He always wears the Giants BP, except when he showed up at Shea for the farewell last September, and he wore the Mets BP. He may be the one man in America who thinks that design looks sharp.
