After the All-Star Break

Of the various bodies that are supposed to be healthy and ready to return after the All-Star break, which ones of them actually will?

From Dave Lennon's (Newsday) on-line chat yesterday:

Reyes -- later this month
Delgado -- around Aug. 1
Beltran -- could be the toughest to predict of all of them, maybe around Aug. 1, too.

He didn't mention Maine

From Newsday .....

Mets' Delgado, Reyes look good in drills

BY RODERICK BOONE | roderick.boone@newsday.com

] As the Mets head into the All-Star break, they received some positive news on the injury front Sunday after Carlos Delgado and Jose Reyes looked good in their baseball activities. Delgado took batting practice in an indoor cage for the first time since he had hip surgery May 19, and both he and Reyes went through agility drills before the Mets' win. Still, there's no set timetable for their return. Delgado seemed to really push hard on his drills and did so fluidly, rotating between running straight ahead and side to side as he picked up his feet and placed them back down in each square he was running through. "It felt good," Delgado said. "I was able to go out there and crank it up a little bit more and it felt good. So we are very positive about that." Delgado, who just started hitting soft-toss pitches and fielding grounders this week, said he has to continue to work on his range of motion and build up strength and endurance. He said he's supposed to head to Port St. Lucie Monday to continue

Wagner

Putz

Putz has the same problem Wagner does, in that he has to get back on the field to show teams something --- whether he has something to show or not --- because it's a contract year. But something tells me he's not going to make it, except maybe for a symbolic inning or two the last week.

I'm surprised to see so many of you putting Beltran so high. Of all of them, I've heard the least about any progress made by the Mole host.

I think I tended to put the guys who had surgery on the bottom of my list, and those who were recovering with rest towards the top.

Not that that's the best way to do it, of course. Wagner's surgery was almost a year ago, and Reyes has shown that resting could take a verrrrry long time.

I put Reyes down the list because I need to temper my expectations. He's only in front of Wagner and Putz because I hate them.

I suspect we have seen the last of J.J. Putz in a Mets uniform.

Well, no one had Wagner on top of their list although that's looking like that'll be the answer.
Talking about him pitching tonight and again on Friday before being activated for Sunday.
