Jerry Shecky Manuel

After almost every loss, Jerry tries to make a joke during his post-game press conference. As the losses piled up, it began to irritate me more and more. I don't expect him to sob and throw stuff but I don't need him to act like Carrot Top. Well, after yesterday's 11-0 loss, Jerry tried to be funny again but this time, he screwed up:

Laughter is the best medicine, and this team is pretty funny from top to bottom.

The only joke Jerry makes that I don't like is writing C-O-R-A on the lineup card everyday.

(buh-dum ching!)

No seriously folks. It was Pelfrey's best game in a while. No balks!

Tough start for the newest Met. When David Wright extended his hand to shake, Jeff Francoeur swung at it.

It was hard to see Ryan Church go. So just before he left to catch up with the Braves in Colorado, Jerry Manuel bashed him once in the skull, then insulted him to reporters.

The fans have really lost it. I mean, when Nelson Figeueroa's wife is the biggest Met fan left, you've got problems.

Did you hear Billy Wagner is making progress? After a simulated game, he trashed his teammates in a simulated interview.

I mean, it's tough out there. Omar Minaya saw Jose Reyes the other day. He said "This isn't what we meant when we said you needed help walking." Reyes in the meantime angrily denied allegations he was soft, nearly knocking the umbrella out of his drink in the process.

You have to hand it to the Mets though, they're learning. When Fernando Martinez went in for knee surgery the other day they saved themselves the trouble and amputated.

Tim Redding, ladies and gentlemen. Showed up injured, pitched his way out of the rotation, now sucks in the bullpen. ... Is this a guy a born Met or what?

CitiField is really something isn't it? Here's something you might not know: The jagged contours of the outfield fence were modeled after Carlos Beltran's knee cartilage.

No really, just ask the Dodgers: They were just there for a three-game homestand.

The line at the Shake Shack is longer than an Oliver Perez inning. I mean, Daniel Murphy had an easier time playing left field than fans do getting something to eat.

Ran into Bernie Madoff the other day and he told me where Fred Wilpon's money was. Now I just have to find the Mets Hall of Fame....

The Mets demise is bringing out the comedian in JCL.....that was a much needed laugh ....not that you weren't funny but that was a step above.

Don't forget to tip your waitresses.

(And kudos above for the Uncle Floyd reference.)

i thought Manuel's joke was pretty funny and read it more as a fatalistic "Woe is me" joke than an indictment of the team medical staff.

It was all good, but I particularly enjoyed this one. Thanks for the laugh.

Jerry laughed 3 times in his post-game presser. One run in two games against a pathetic team and he's making jokes. Perhaps he was working on his routine when he forgot to walk Willingham with a runner at 2d in a tie game and a sub-.200 hitter on deck. I guess knowing you won't be fired no matter how many games you lose is funny, too.
