There is precedent here as I remember the " moving statues" from years ago , that was during tough economic times too

Michael Jackson on a tree stump too

I remember one time David Letterman showed a slice of toast with the image of Kenny Rogers charred into the bread.

Seriously - what the fuck is wrong with people?

Look at it this way: If some farmer in Nebraska discovered that he had a cow whose spot pattern resembled Bobby Valentine's face, we'd all be heading out there to lay our hands on that cow.

Wouldn't we?

Man, I just split a whole bunch of wood a few weeks back and not once did I go looking for images in the grain before whacking the crap out of it with an axe.
I mean, how stupid am I?

Well, Valentine wouldn't work as the real McCoy still walks the earth.

Now, Hodges maybe.

Laughing my arse off....

listening to people being interviewed on Irish radio the consensus seems to be people are looking for a moral authority and are not getting it from the Church nor the State ........so a tree stump works for now......also people are all but certain this would not happen in boom times....like the last 15 years....

My favorite is still the [url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4034787.stm:2yzu3bi2]grilled cheese that had the picture of Mary[/url:2yzu3bi2] on it. Went for 28k on eBay thanks to some yutz.

Without a bowl of tomato soup shaped like John the Baptist to dip it in, it's totally useless anyway.

How about this?

Two percent of these folks are the exploiters trying to make a buck.

Three percent of these people are smart devout people who are looking for expressions of the devine in the simple, despite their experience that should suggest to them that if spirits exist beyond our world, they don't express themselves this way, and that symmetrical patterns in the waterstains, grains of wood, and veins of marble can always appear to be something if you look long enough and at enough of such patterns.

Eight percent are the devout but simple, who miss those points completely.

Eighty percent are the curious looking for new oddities. A free or low-cost ticket to a Ripleys museum.

The remaining seven percent are the media.

In other words, the real curiosities folks are flocking to see are not the images themselves, but the people who put stock in them.

I doubt the economy or the church's or state's moral authority or lack thereof are much of the issue.

Johnny Carson had a lady on who collected potato chips with unique shapes and such. As she was showing them he had a bowl of normal shaped chips behind the desk, and ate one, to make it seem like he ate one of her unique chips.

Mmm... I'd like to put Bernadette Peters on a piece of toast and take a bite outta her.

I'm bowing. Not like half-bowing like the Japanese do when they greet each other. I'm talking full-fledged drop to your knees and wailing chats at the top of your lungs like they show in radical muslim groups type bowing.
