TV for regular people

Tore through Season 1 of True Blood On Demand. Season 2 is into week 4 and it's pretty cool. Not the most intelligent show on earth, but it's fun. Lots of boobies.

We're also watching Dexter. All three seasons are available on Showtime On Demand right now!!!! Season 1 takes a long time to get going, but the end of the season is pretty exciting. Just started Season 2 and it seems much more exciting.

The Closer is a favorite of my wife. I like it too. Mindless, fun little show. Kyra Sedgwick = still pretty cute.

Anything good I'm missing? I'm open to anything that doesn't feature John and Kate.

(sorry if there is a TV thread, if so, feel free to merge)

Dexter seems to get better and better.

And I agree, <i>True Blood</i> is a lot of fun.

Have you been watching <I>Big Love</i>?

I also like <I>Fringe</i> on FOX and <i>Torchwood</i> on BBC America.

(It took a while for <i>Fringe</i> to grow on me, but by season's end it was one of my favorites.)

Dexter has been pretty much the only serial show I'll watch live every week over the past 5 years.

I am getting into the new show Hung on HBO.

I started watching True Blood when it debuted, but quit after a few weeks. I hear good things about Season 2.

Many of us regular people can't afford HBO no more.

Liking True Blood a lot , it's the wife's favorite show and she badgered me until I started watching it with her at the start of this season......and I am liking it.....last weeks show was quite good.....Eric is my favorite character .

I was disappointed with Hung....and I was looking forward to it too

Harper's Island finished Saturday.....some of the worst acting I have seen ever....

We've been watching Harper's Island. (About nine episodes behind.) The acting is pretty bad. It's like watching a daytime soap.

The guy who plays Eric on True Blood is my choice to play The Mighty Thor. (Not gonna happen, though. Someone else has been cast.)

I've been liking True Blood as well - it has been a lot of fun...

Hung has been a disappointment - the main character is just too unlikable. I'll give it a try for a few more episodes to see if it improves any...

Lunchbucket - <i>"Many of us regular people can't afford HBO no more."</i>

Parenthood has a way of doing that to ones lifestyle.

Back when it was new and one of the few stations showing new, un-cut movies HBO was a big deal. But with so many choices for movies these days (video stores, NetFlix, On-Demand, other channels) and HBO having its own slate of flicks so watered down at this point I just don't find it worth paying the extra bucks for what amounts to the occasional TV series plus a handful of boxing specials (which I never watch anyway).
So I gave it up years ago. And even though there have been short stints in between where I did have it through free trials and other short-term deals as soon as it went away I found I didn't miss it at all.

I enjoyed watching Castle last spring. I'm hoping that ABC picks it up for the fall. It's kind of like Moonlighting, except Nathan Fillon stars in the Bruce Willis role, playing a mystery writer who is teamed up with a wise-cracking, sexy but serious female detective. Hilarity ensues.

Jada Pinkett Smith is sensational in Hawthorne, but the scripts are same old.

I watch Trueblood, Dexter & Weeds.

Love Trueblood & Dexter. Weeds has definitely jumped the shark but Kevin Nealon is the one thing that continues to make it worth watching.

Started watching Nurse Jackie and I like that too.

Watched the first two eps of 'Hung'. Eh. Other than the fact that the guy is down on his luck, its like looking in a mirror......

I also started watching another one on Showtime called 'Party Down' about a group of out-of-work actor and writer types in Hollywood that work for a catering company to make ends meet. A comedy - very funny, try to catch it if you can.

Thank goodness for the DVR.

In all my years of watching cable TV series', my favorites have been 'The Brotherhood' on Showtime and HBO's 'Rome'.
