Classic!

So, wait. Are we going to beat the Rockies or just butthump them?

Note that I am fine with either choice.

That's some serious sack movement there from Carl Weathers. I saw Survivor years ago at Hunter mountain, it's like the whole crowd was waiting for eye of the tiger. I was pumped after hearing it,

I asked the other day why the Mets aren't shaving. The Post today said that Cora organized a no-shave policy until the team reaches .500.

What a concept. I'm truly surprised no one ever thought of this until Cora did.

Tough lineup they're facing tonight:

  1. Apollo Creed, ss

  2. Mason "The Line" Dixon, cf

  3. Rocky Balboa, 3b

  4. James "Clubber" Lang, rf

  5. Ivan Drago, 1b

  6. Tommy Gunn, 2b

  7. Tony "Duke" Evers, lf

  8. Paulie Pennino, c

  9. Ludmilla Drago, p
I figure the key is to get to Ludmilla early.

(By the way, I'm pretty sure 100% of this lineup is on the juice.)

I would have pegged Creed as a first baseman , good feet for the dancing around the bag.

Edgy DC

Believe me, with a lineup full of sculpted lunks, the fight over the firstbaseman's mitt was vicious and oily. In the end, it was agreed that Drago had the best reach.

Rocky Balboa -- Rocky 6, is what I meant. I haven't seen it yet.

Valadius
Jul 29 2009 12:31 PM

Yes, I saw it. Rocky Balboa was surprisingly good. I really enjoyed it - it redeemed the series for me after the horrific failure of Rocky V.

Spider Rico is in it - Rocky owns a restaurant, called Adrian's, and Spider frequently eats there. At one point, he goes down to the kitchen and starts watching dishes, over the objections of Rocky. I wouldn't call him retarded though.

There's actually a very good scene in Rocky Balboa where Rocky is talking to his son about life and how winning is done, which is very appropriate in this context:

In "Rocky 6" he played a guy who was retarded AND apparently melting.

So, you know, added degree of difficulty, there-- like trying to dig yourselves out of a 10-game hole when your team has 11 on the DL... AND Jerry Manuel at the helm.

So, wait, he wasn't brain-damaged when he refused to throw in the towel because of a promise he made to his friend in the heat of the moment-- a friend who was likely hemorrhaging cerebrally at that point-- during an exhibition match Apollo shouldn't have accepted in the first place?

You know, in retrospect, he really kinda deserved the self-loathing.

With that loss, a second team --- Chicago --- has caught the Rockies in the Wild Card chase. San Francisco caught and passed them during the series also night.

If the Mets win and complete the sweep tonight and the Marlins beat the Braves, the Fish will have caught them as well.

Watch that Nats-Brewers contest. They're tied 3-3, and a Brewer loss ties them with the Mets going into game two tonight. Catching the Brews would importantly put half the teams in the Wild Card race below the Mets.
