Kinda felt good going into this, no? Now, after leaving so many times before, it feels a bit like the train's actually leaving the station... a loss here, along with a couple of wins by others, all but excises the plausibility from our playoff possibility.

I was thinking someone was going to go with 'Welcome to the Haren House'

I hate snakes, Jacques! I hate 'em!

They have indeed spent too much time in our midst.

Nelson Figueroa is also in contention for Thing That Wouldn't Leave honors, though he may be chased soon.

Howie just said Jerry hoped Nelson Figueroa could throw 110 pitches tonight. I'll bet the Diamondbacks are hoping it even more.

Ashie62
Aug 03 2009 05:23 PM

Figueroa is the force of evil or he is channeling Jose Lima, I can't tell

Farmer Ted
Aug 03 2009 05:24 PM

He's already thrown, what, 30 in the first?

Valadius
Aug 03 2009 05:26 PM

Figueroa has turned back into a fig newton.

Ashie62
Aug 03 2009 05:39 PM

So much for the SHaMs

Ashie62
Aug 03 2009 05:42 PM

Fig Newton..helluva pitcher and a belly itcher

Farmer Ted
Aug 03 2009 05:43 PM

Would be a nice spot to bring Misch in to stop the bleeding. Oh, darn it. Forgot. Omar sent him to Buffalo to give Figgy the start.

Ashie62
Aug 03 2009 05:44 PM

People paid money to watch this shit!

G-Fafif
Aug 03 2009 05:44 PM

Howie approves of the booing. Says the fans paid "more than decent money" and shouldn't have to concern themselves with the apparent desire to preserve the bullpen for another day.

Not too many days left, at least in the sense that matters.

Redding is up. I thought Redding would start in the first place. Reminds me of Norm McDonald's bit about the homeless man with the dog. The dog must be thinking: "Hey, I could do this without the man."

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 03 2009 05:45 PM

This is a joke. Here comes Redding after all.

Ashie62

Figueroa will live in a Van down by the River!

Ash: People paid money to watch this shit! <<<

No, tonight was Free Ticket Night.

I suppose it would be kinda cruel to start a memories of Nelson thread during
the IGT of his last game in baseball so I won't.

Mets Walkoffs today declared Nelson Figueroa deserves enshrinement in the Minor League Hall of Fame. I think Nelson has made his case for just such an induction tonight.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 03 2009 05:47 PM

This on the night that Figueroa tied the all-time Met record for most recalls to the 40-man roster.

Aflac Trivia Question: With whom does Figgy share this (dis)honor?

Ashie62

Redding is the evil spawn of fig Newton

Why in fact it is interesting....

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr

Got home, and it was 6-0. Had some things to attend to, figuring I might turn on the game later on. Now whowhatwhatwaitwhat?

Kaboomy

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr

If this team could score runs from third with one out, it'd be 7-6.

Reyholds si a hoot. He has the athleticism, craziness, and creativity to make ridiculously good plays, but none of the polish or consistency to actually call him a good defender.

I got radio, and just got done making late dinner*. What's he did now?

*BTW, nothing goes better with a sorta-comeback like a fresh BLT-- thick cut Applewood-smoked bacon, Jersey tomatoes-- and a wheat beer.

EDIT: Figgered it out.

That's what that tattoo on his neck signifies.

Parnell can be stingey with runners in scoring position also.

I thought it meant he was prison-"taken."

Anyway, let's stretch it out, happy-like.

This team isn't so good in seventh innings.

OK, I admit it, I gave up and turned on 'House'.

Losing 3 of 4 to these stiffs, weak.

LWFS -"BTW, nothing goes better with a sorta-comeback like a fresh BLT-- thick cut Applewood-smoked bacon, Jersey tomatoes-- and a wheat beer."

Everything seems better with a hearty helping of thick sliced bacon and a cold beer. Even the Mets are more tolerable with beer and bacon.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 03 2009 08:58 PM

I too approve of bacon and beer.

Tonight however the best I can do is preztels and beer.

My only comfort was Joe DiMaggio's shlong. And even that proved scant consolaton.

In some ways I was relieved to see Schoeneweis not get in a game this series. Somehow my faith in the fans at the park is not such that I would expect the poor guy to be given the break he deserves.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 04 2009 08:21 AM

I say we kill Francoeur for hacking at the first pitch in the 8th. I mean, I'd forgive it if he'd singled, but he didn't and so he must die.

Edgy DC
Aug 04 2009 08:28 AM

Seems to me that's on the manager.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

Send him to Mo Rivera's house, tell him to meet you at the deep end. At night.

Buy him a car and let him drive around in Leyritz's neighborhood.

Let him eat Nathan's hot dogs (or Chick-Fil-A, should he prefer) until his insides burst-- then it's death by poor plate discipline.
