IGT - 8/4/09, Mets vs. Devil Birds

Let Alfred Hitchcock remind you of the dastardly nature of these creatures.

Joel Fucking Piniero.

Let's knock this asswipe in the first. 7 runs, 8 hits, no outs recorded sounds about right to me.

Mets have to push the fences back next year. Citi Field plays too much like a bandbox.

Let's see Johan do something with a bat now.

Frayed Knot
Aug 04 2009 05:53 PM

Keith is referring to Muffy as 'Roger Ramjet', an old 1960s cartoon character.
I think I see the resemblance.

G-Fafif
Aug 04 2009 05:56 PM

Mention of Roger Ramjet always reminds me of Ram Jam.

Frayed Knot
Aug 04 2009 05:58 PM

Roger Ramjet and his Eagles
Fighting for our freedom
Fly through in and outer space
Not to join him but to beat him.

Roger Ramjet he's our man
Hero of our nation
For his adventure just be sure
And stay tuned to this station.

Come and join us all you kids
For lots of fun and laughter
As Roger Ramjet and his men
Get all the crooks they're after.

Roger Ramjet he's our man
Hero of our nation
For his adventure just be sure
And stay tuned to this station.

I could have recited at least half of this from memory.

G-F: Mets have to push the fences back next year. Citi Field plays too much like a bandbox <<<

I'm glad things have loosened up for the bats. It's been a weird summer
weather wise and there would have been a lot of calls for fence changes
this off-season if no one homered much.

There's gonna be plenty of time for changes, I hope they keep the park
the same for at least three seasons to see how things play out.

Roger Ramjet would, when in a pickle, take a pill which would give him the strength of 'twenty atoms bombs for twenty seconds'. I used to have philosophical discussions with my sister and father as to whether taking a second pill would give him the strength of forty atom bombs for twenty seconds or twenty atom bombs for forty seconds.

Always seemed to me that that would be an important thing to know.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

I was a little concerned this was gonna turn into the Johan start 2 turns ago, where we SHaMmed pretty well but lost because Johan wasn't as Johanny as usual.

I don't have a big prob running Pagan with 2 out and Castillo up.

Frayed Knot
Aug 04 2009 07:05 PM

Stokes pulled after one pitch as Jerry puts down his "Managing for Dummies" book and goes to the pen for lefty vs. lefty.

Think about the things that conspired to add up to this clusterfuck.

- Pagan misreading Wright's single in the 1st and failing to score
- 2 caught stealings
- Sheffield's 2 GiDPs
- Berroa's error
- Cora's error (even though it wasn't scored that way)
- Jerry's pitch switching after 1-pitch/1-out
- Frankie's worst outing of the year
- Feliciano 4-pitch walking someone
- Castillo falling down the steps
- Green's HBP on the first pitch

That would have been understandable and, with LaRussa, I would have thought automatic.
Instead, Tony opts not to and gets away with it while Jerry tries to out-LaRussa LaRussa and gets burned by it.

Jerry overusing the L/R and Tony sitting on his hands (the pitcher even batted 9th). Funny role reversal.
