We don't just owe this guy. We Piņeir-owe him.

G-Fafif Aug 04 2009 05:26 PM |
Mets have to push the fences back next year. Citi Field plays too much like a bandbox.
Valadius Aug 04 2009 05:37 PM |
Let's see Johan do something with a bat now.
Valadius Aug 04 2009 05:46 PM |
And what do you know, he does do something.
Frayed Knot Aug 04 2009 05:53 PM |
Keith is referring to Muffy as 'Roger Ramjet', an old 1960s cartoon character.
G-Fafif Aug 04 2009 05:56 PM |
Mention of Roger Ramjet always reminds me of Ram Jam.

G-F: Mets have to push the fences back next year. Citi Field plays too much like a bandbox <<<
Valadius Aug 04 2009 06:10 PM |
Why have I never heard of Roger Ramjet? And I used to watch the Cartoon Network almost exclusively as a kid.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Aug 04 2009 06:10 PM |
Has this team given Johan an allergy to run support?
G-Fafif Aug 04 2009 06:16 PM |
RR goes back a ways. Faded from view by the early '70s.
Ashie62 Aug 04 2009 06:28 PM |
Ram Jam as portrayed by Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler" available in DVD and Blu-Ray

We're roughing up Pineiro. Wow.

That's some defense right there.

I credit Transmonk's post about the baseball Prospectus percentage for the Mets making the posting season in 2007 vs. now for the rally
Frayed Knot Aug 04 2009 06:48 PM |

Roger Ramjet would, when in a pickle, take a pill which would give him the strength of 'twenty atoms bombs for twenty seconds'. I used to have philosophical discussions with my sister and father as to whether taking a second pill would give him the strength of forty atom bombs for twenty seconds or twenty atom bombs for forty seconds. Always seemed to me that that would be an important thing to know.
Ashie62 Aug 04 2009 06:49 PM |
Roger Ramjet was "tweaked"
Frayed Knot Aug 04 2009 06:54 PM |
Nice of Johan to throw up a zero in that last inning.
Edgy DC Aug 04 2009 06:54 PM |
Roger Ramjet --- like Roger Rocket --- was a serious juicer.
Frayed Knot Aug 04 2009 06:56 PM |
Yadier's throws are rindoculous.
Edgy DC Aug 04 2009 06:56 PM |
Yadier Molina. Tough to run against.

I hate this caught stealing shit.
Kong76 Aug 04 2009 06:57 PM |
That's at least two innings Pagan has run the Mets out of?? I'm asking.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 04 2009 07:03 PM |
I was a little concerned this was gonna turn into the Johan start 2 turns ago, where we SHaMmed pretty well but lost because Johan wasn't as Johanny as usual.
Frayed Knot Aug 04 2009 07:05 PM |
I didn't either.
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 07:08 PM |
Jesus H Tap Dancing Fucking Christ. Castillo blows out some part of his lower body walking down the steps of the dugout.
Swan Swan H Aug 04 2009 07:09 PM |
Jayzus. Castillo hurts his leg walking down the dugout steps. What next, the thermostat in the clubhouse whirlpool goes haywire and Wright gets boiled alive?
Edgy DC Aug 04 2009 07:10 PM |
I didn't have a feeling that would happen.
Valadius Aug 04 2009 07:11 PM |
I think we need a non-denominational exorcism performed on the Mets' medical staff.

I am going to respectfully decline to follow your orders, Dr. LWFS.

Swan Swan H Aug 04 2009 07:21 PM |
They show a sponsored replay of the Santana kick-save play, and the area of the screen where the kicking takes place is, of course, obscured by the advertising banner. Bah. Just for that I'm not buying a new Mercedes.

I knew when Gary mentioned that Santana with a win would become the NL's first 13 game winner , I knew things were going to go haywire.
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 07:48 PM |
Frankie is all over the place here. Rusty.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 04 2009 07:48 PM |
Johan deserved better than to have Frankie do this. C'mon guys, we need a walk-off.
Edgy DC Aug 04 2009 07:50 PM |

And Alex Cora is due for one.

It's not like that's news.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 04 2009 07:54 PM |
Our failure to replace Cora with someone better -- or to figure out what's wrong with Reyes and how long he'll need to heal -- is where this hurts.
Edgy DC Aug 04 2009 07:55 PM |
What's that? 40 pitches?
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 07:56 PM |
Hallegoddamlujah.

Edgy DC Aug 04 2009 07:59 PM |

2+ months since the Mets' last walkoff win.

Valadius Aug 04 2009 08:02 PM |
I would love to see a Wright walk-off homer.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Aug 04 2009 08:03 PM |
Pagan, in reminding you that he is not Carlos Beltran, swings at three ball fours right there before tapping out to McClellan.
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 08:08 PM |
Berroa rules!

John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 04 2009 08:08 PM |

John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 04 2009 08:11 PM |
Jeez Muffy.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 04 2009 08:11 PM |
Or not.
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 08:13 PM |
The way I see it, you pay for 9 innings, and you see 10, then you're getting a deal.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 04 2009 08:14 PM |
Good call!!
Frayed Knot Aug 04 2009 08:14 PM |
Barely deserved better. Had he thrown up more than four zeros out of 8 innings he would have deserved it more and gotten it too.
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 08:15 PM |
Stokes pulled after one pitch as Jerry puts down his "Managing for Dummies" book and goes to the pen for lefty vs. lefty.
Frayed Knot Aug 04 2009 08:18 PM |
I think that's over-doing the L/R thing too.
Edgy DC Aug 04 2009 08:18 PM |
And we pull one out after one pitch.

It's about time for Lugo to remember that he sucks.

Pujols' dealer for one.
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 08:21 PM |
Jerry, what's your book say now? That you should've left Stokes in.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 04 2009 08:22 PM |
Horrible. They're pissing this game away.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 04 2009 08:23 PM |

Will Clark and Cesar Cedeno, too.

Crowd warmth does help balls carry, though. It's a fact!
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 08:24 PM |
Big K there. Now Green in to get the last out, supposebly.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 04 2009 08:24 PM |
Extra innings, and tomorrow's game is at noon.
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 08:26 PM |
Did that just happen.

metirish Aug 04 2009 08:26 PM |

This is Williesesque. Muck the Fets.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say we should keep Sean Green out of bases-loaded-type situations.
Frayed Knot Aug 04 2009 08:27 PM |
If that pitch was only 3-1/2 feet over it would have missed him and maybe even been over the plate.
Kong76 Aug 04 2009 08:27 PM |
"There are no words."
metirish Aug 04 2009 08:28 PM |
Well ain't that grand?

Kong76 Aug 04 2009 08:29 PM |
Pujols provides words.

John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 04 2009 08:29 PM |
That was the most predictable thing I've ever seen.

Plegh. Well, they'll be due for a win when I see them tomorrow? That's all I got.
Edgy DC Aug 04 2009 08:31 PM |
I'm putting it on Jerry. This mix'n'match bullpen shit is just too much to watch.
Frayed Knot Aug 04 2009 08:33 PM |
Think about the things that conspired to add up to this clusterfuck.
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 08:35 PM |
Yeah don't discount the fact that Jerry only pulled each pitcher in the 10th AFTER they recorded an out.
PiggiesTomatoes Aug 04 2009 08:36 PM |
Second Edition with a foreward by Jerry Manuel.
Valadius Aug 04 2009 08:37 PM |
Again, that team is fucking evil and I hate them.
Frayed Knot Aug 04 2009 08:37 PM |
And the thing that shocked me was LaRussa NOT going to the lefty when Muffy was up in a game-winning situation. That would have been understandable and, with LaRussa, I would have thought automatic. Instead, Tony opts not to and gets away with it while Jerry tries to out-LaRussa LaRussa and gets burned by it.
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Aug 04 2009 08:37 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Aug 04 2009 08:39 PM |
I'd like to note here that Jeff Francoeur has seen a total of 24 pitches in his last 13 plate appearances (spanning three games).
Kong76 Aug 04 2009 08:37 PM |
FK: Think about the things that conspired to add up to this clusterfuck.
Fman99 Aug 04 2009 08:42 PM |
SNY postgame immediately hones in on the bullpen moves in the top of the 10th.
smg58 Aug 04 2009 08:44 PM |
If anything, Stokes should have been held for DeRosa and Pujols. Why does he get one batter while Green gets the critical situation?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 04 2009 09:00 PM |
It's just so ugly. Jerry has to stop playing not to lose
Ashie62 Aug 04 2009 09:30 PM |
It's as simple as Frankie Rodriguez failing to do his job.If he does what he's paid well for then its' a happy recap..the rest becomes noise
Valadius Aug 04 2009 09:31 PM |
I agree with Ashie. It's squarely on K-Rod.
Gwreck Aug 04 2009 09:31 PM |
